About Me

  1. The ParaCleanse 100 gram container comes with a scoop and the directions state to dose 1 scoop per 10 gallons. I filled the scoop to the top thinking that was 1 dose but that looked a little too much to me. The scoop has a line about half way around the cup, is that where I should have filled it to get 1 dose?
  2. ParaCleanse states that it "may" affect ammonia & nitrite (Bio) levels in the tank and I'm asking if someone more experienced has an explanation? I've done the first dose last evening and I plan to test the parameters tonight. Do you think it will destroy the Bio or should I just give the tank a shot of Stability to bolster things back up? I'm going to follow Cory's directions but he doesn't mention the affect on the Bio. Thanks for any help, Gil Rochester Hills, MI
  3. I will be using Paraclense as part of my quarantine process. Is it worthwhile to bind with focus in food, or do you just treat the water column?
  4. I just did my pre medication chemistry and noted my Nitrates are 40. There ar 15 Otto's and 1 Panda Corydora in there (and pest snails to keep it cycled). QT trio is complete (dosed on Saturday June 26th) and I usually do a second dose of Paracleanse (day 3. Should I hold doing that? They are fasting and I did a water change and vac prior to starting the QT meds. They are all fine, swimming around happy as can be. There are no signs of illness at all. This is week 2 in QT. Week one I feed them and observe, and week 2 medicate, week 3 observe. I know that 40 can be okay. I do have plants in little terracotta pots and the tank is bare bottom. Just wanted to make sure that if I medicate it will not be an issue. Here are the rest of the parameters: PH 7.3, Ammonia 0, Nitrites 0, Nitrates 40.
  5. Hello, I’ve noticed my Platies rubbing a lot on some of the plants in my Aquarium but there are no visible signs of Ich on them. Ammonia, Nitrites & Nitrates are all at 0. Temp 77 degrees and PH 7.0
  6. So, one of my tanks (classic guppies/snails/shrimp tank) had some clear parasite issues so I medicated it with paracleanse according to Aquarium Coop's directions and that is going very well. However I decided to medicate another tank I have because I have been using the same nets back and forth and some of the mollies there had clamped fins and another fish there had recently got half her tail bitten off so I figured the antibacterial and anti fungal wouldn't hurt so I hit it with the full classic trio, Marycin, ich-x and paracleanse. The morning after, the tank is super cloudy, fish gasping for air and my salvini male starts showing some extreme dying behaviour (sinking to the bottom, smashing into the substrate and decor, floating upside down, etc...). So I did a 80% waterchange and added an airstone but meanwhile the salvini male died. Has anyone had a similar experience with those meds? I think they might have maybe killed a lot of beneficial bacteria and/or depleted the water of oxygen.
  7. I literally just finished the first round of treatment with ParaCleanse, because that dish was hitting against surfaces when I just got her. This morning I wake up and it looks like she got the disease, and now I'm both confused and wondering what I should do. Do I still wait 2 weeks before I treat with ParaCleanse again, or do I treat again immediately? Water parameters: pH: 7-7.2 Ammonia, Nitrite: 0 Nitrate 10 Temp: 25C (78F) The last few days she was eating less pellets than I usually give her, but she is still eating the same amount of flakes I feed her without losing interest. I don't have a hospital tank, so I'd much rather treat with things that won't destroy my plants and shrimps. What should I do?
  8. Hey everyone, I added paraplense and one of my honey gouramis started swimming erratically and as if he had no control over how he moved, he was also gasping. I added him to a tank without paracleanse, but the other fish are still in there. I have two other honey gourami and one is also showing slight sings of the samething but I did not want to take him out if not necessary. All of the other neon tetras, and hillstream loaches are ok. What should I do? Should I take out the other honey gourami that is sort of swimming like he is negatively buoyant. Why is the meds doing this???
  9. Does Fritz ParaCleanse treat the tank also or just the fish? I think I may have brought in parasites, either on wet gravel stored outside, or a new cypress knee or a outdoor tub sponge filter I temporarily used in a holding tub I used to transfer fish and plants to new tank. Three stupid mistakes on my part. Newbie lesson learned. Thanks for any input. PS FYI I found this on this Disease Guide Poster on Fritz website. https://fritzaquatics.com/assets/files/uploads/Disease_Guide_Poster_Sm.pdf
  10. I have a male endler with a very flat belly, like he's loosing weight. He's eating well, so I'm guessing an intestinal parasite. I think it'd be proactive to treat all my endlers, but that includes gravid females, and an African Dwarf Frog. So, anybody seen the effects of ParaCleanse on pregnant livebearers and/or on frogs? TIA
  11. Do we have a worked out amount to add ParaCleanse to food? How much ParaCleanse to how much food?
  12. Hi Everyone, I just want to make sure this is normal. It's my first time using Paracleanse. Thanks!
  13. I have a question that I am desperately trying to get an answer to. I noticed a few weeks back white feces in 2 of my fish. I started a course of parasite meds. First up was general API 2 weeks ago. All went well, everyone eating and acting normal. I did a water change yesterday, added prime, and started the 2nd round of treatment. This time I used paracleanse due to being out of general API. Within a few hours, my tank clouded. I did an immediate 25% water change and they seemed ok for about an hour and then the water clouded again and the fish were at the top gasping for air. I lost 70% of my fish before I discovered. ☹ I noticed that some of the fish(angel) had very red color right were their pectoral fins connect. All was fine with the first treatment. I added a sponge filter with airstone to the tank a few weeks back since the parasite meds need more oxygen. I tested my water and discovered that I have 0ppm of ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates....0....I must have lost the cycle, but how? I just don’t understand what I did to cause this. Could the meds have killed all beneficial bacteria?
  14. Is it ok to use fritz ParaCleanse, API E.M Erythromycin, and aquarium solutions ich-x all at once for a complete treatment?
  15. Hello! Is it a good idea to use Paracleanse and IchX in a planted display tank? My QT is busy treating a different illness at the moment and one of my danio in my display tank just got some internal parasite. So I am wondering if I can use those two medication in a display tank and if so, how do I go about doing it? Thank you
  16. I bought the 3 medications that Cory recommended for using in a quarantine tank and now I can't find the video, Ich-X, Maracyn and ParaCleanse. Anyone remember how he uses them?
  17. I put it in my tank with pea puffers with parasites and there is a bunch of white specks still floating around after 15-20 mins. Ingredients are 250 mg metronidazole 75 mg praziquantel so the same as api general cure. Also could mix this with bloodworm and feed it to them I am treating internal parasites.
  18. Hi can anyone tell me if it is ok to use ParaCleanse and Microbe Lift Artemiss together in the same tank? I have three young single tail goldfish who I think have internal parasites (two have had long white stringy poop.) One of the fish had a split in its tail which is worsening to a small piece missing. They are little rescues from a local shelter that has a fish rescue program. I have had them for a little less than two months. I wasn’t aware of the Quarantine Trio sold by the Co op or I would have purchased that from the start. I do not have Maracyn on hand but was hoping the Artemiss + ParaCleanse would be ok together. There is 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 5 nitrate, ph about 7.0, well water measures ‘hard.’ I do weekly gravel vac and 50% water change in a 30 g tank (they are small, I have a 75 g for them when they get bigger.) I have Prime and Stability in the tank right now. I am running an Aquaclear 70 filter and air stone, temp is kept at 69 degrees. Its hard to get a pic but this is tail issue Thank you!
  19. I've recently watched Cory's video on Paracleanse dosing, and am planning to, as a precaution, do the three treatment rounds of Paracleanse on my new fish. The one question I have is with the two week break in between each of the three treatment rounds, is that two weeks from the date of the first dose, or two weeks from the date of the water change after the two doses? Or does it not matter so much as is just a rough two week gap? Just want to make sure I get it right so I properly get rid of any and all tapeworms! 🙂 Thanks in advance!
  20. Does anybody know if fritz Paracleanse will kill baby fish
  21. Hi Folks, I have been doing a round of ParaCleanse (on day 3 atm) on my tank when I noticed a bit of fin rot on a couple of my corydoras. Is it possible to use Maracyn in conjunction with ParaCleanse as a full dose? I won’t be adding any more packets of ParaCleanse after today. Can I add Maracyn starting tomorrow or even as early as tonight? TIA! pH 7.4 Nitrates 0 Hardness 71.6 Nitrite 0 Ammonia 0 KH/Buffer 89.5 Water Temperature 77
  22. Ok, so I bought some Gold Dust Mollies this past weekend and after watching them for a day I was disappointed by what I was seeing. Two of them were thin and looking thinner. After a couple more days observation I could see white stringy poop and they didn’t look any better. I had Paracleanse on hand and I dosed the QT tank Tuesday. Yesterday the two fish were stressed to the max. They spent most of the day resting at the surface on water sprite foliage, and when they were swimming they were shimmying. They look much better today.Today is the day that I should treat them with the second dose of Paracleanse, but I’m concerned with how they did with the first round. So I am wondering if I should give them a break for a few days (2 maybe 3), and then start the treatment all over. I don’t know, maybe that would be worse. I thought I would source some opinions here and see what you all think.
  23. Has anybody had trouble with maracyn and paraclense making their water cloudy. Started treating for a bacterial infection 2 days ago and my tank is now super cloudy. Also happened to.my 75 gallon tank when I treated it for parasites. Im.following the instructions closely. Almost lost all my fish in my 75 I guess the meds depleted the oxygen. Idk I just need help.
  24. Hi Everyone. I finished my second round of ParaCleanse as directed on the box and my fish still have these crazy long feces. Today (Friday) was the first day after the 25% water change and the first day I fed them since last Saturday. I fed very lightly. I'm sorry the pictures did not come out clearly but I think you can see the length of the fecal matter in the female Cyprichromis and the thickness of the fecal matter in the yellow-tailed male. The one coming out of the male was actually as least as long as the one coming out of the female but it broke right before I took the pictures. Should I do another round of ParaCleanse or switch to another medication like levamisole (Fritz Expel-P) or flubendazole? Maybe this isn't a parasite at all? Thanks!
