  1. Hi Everyone. I finished my second round of ParaCleanse as directed on the box and my fish still have these crazy long feces. Today (Friday) was the first day after the 25% water change and the first day I fed them since last Saturday. I fed very lightly. I'm sorry the pictures did not come out clearly but I think you can see the length of the fecal matter in the female Cyprichromis and the thickness of the fecal matter in the yellow-tailed male. The one coming out of the male was actually as least as long as the one coming out of the female but it broke right before I took the pictures. Should I do another round of ParaCleanse or switch to another medication like levamisole (Fritz Expel-P) or flubendazole? Maybe this isn't a parasite at all? Thanks!
  2. I moved my fish out of my display tank into a a little floating quarantine container because he seems to have wasting disease/parasites and I am treating for it now I am afraid that he might have left parasites in the main tank in the substrate through his poop and stuff so today I Took a lot out of the main tank to gravel vac which was super stressful for me and my OCD and anxiety and I don’t even think I gravel vacuumed it that good and it is hard to vacuum in my tank because it’s a 10 gallon lushly planted and with drift wood so it’s hard to gravel vac and I don’t like having to pull everything out. can you keep parasites at bay with gravel vacs?and I’m deathly afraid of medicating my tank because the last time I did that it killed my damn cycle so I just don’t know what to do or if there is even parasites in the substrate or tank.
  3. I’ve got a 5 gal quarantine tank with 8 fish that I’m using the med trio on right now, but I’m wondering if I can safely treat my display tank (40 gal hex) with paracleanse. I’ve never treated or quarantined any of the fish in my display tank before and would like to start with a clean slate when I move my quarantined fish to that tank by proactively treating for tapeworms. I watched Cory’s video about using the med trio and just am not clear if I can do this with my display tank. Confused!
  4. Last week I noticed a few of my endler fry flicking/quickly rubbing themselves against a smooth rock in the tank. One started doing it and then a couple other followed. I thought they might just be horsing around and playing follow the leader, but then I saw some mama endlers and some adult platy do it too. Uh oh. Pretty sure that means gill flukes. So I did a full 5-day paracleanse treatment for the whole tank: full doses on Day 1 and Day 3, 25% water change Day 5. It seemed to offer some relief since they seem to be flashing less often during treatment, but it's hard to tell because they were doing it pretty infrequently before. Day 5 was Thursday and things seemed fine. Now on Sunday I'm seeing them start up again. I should note that their appetite and energy have all been awesome the entire time. Whole crew of hungry hungry hippos coming up and begging for food every time I get near the glass. They haven't seemed to have trouble breathing or inflamed gills (it's hard to tell on some of the paler platy, though, who seem to naturally have pretty red gills). Should I start another round of Paracleanse or should I wait to see if anyone's looking more sick? Water parameters: Temp: 76-78F pH 7.4 KH: 10-20ppm GH: 150ppm Ammonia & Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 10-20ppm
  5. I’ve completed my first round of Paracleanse according to the directions on the box. Yesterday was day five and I did the 25% water change. Corey says to wait two weeks before starting the next round but since one of my fish still has long stringy poop I’m wondering if it would be safe to start the next round after one week. Thanks.
  6. I am going to start treatment using Paracleanse by Fritz, do i need to remove the filter pads like carbon and nitrite pads or is it ok to leave them? Please advice
  7. Do I turn off my Undergravel filter when using Paracleanse?
  8. So, one of my tanks (classic guppies/snails/shrimp tank) had some clear parasite issues so I medicated it with paracleanse according to Aquarium Coop's directions and that is going very well. However I decided to medicate another tank I have because I have been using the same nets back and forth and some of the mollies there had clamped fins and another fish there had recently got half her tail bitten off so I figured the antibacterial and anti fungal wouldn't hurt so I hit it with the full classic trio, Marycin, ich-x and paracleanse. The morning after, the tank is super cloudy, fish gasping for air and my salvini male starts showing some extreme dying behaviour (sinking to the bottom, smashing into the substrate and decor, floating upside down, etc...). So I did a 80% waterchange and added an airstone but meanwhile the salvini male died. Has anyone had a similar experience with those meds? I think they might have maybe killed a lot of beneficial bacteria and/or depleted the water of oxygen.
  9. Hi, I was wondering what is the difference between Prazipro and Fritz ParaCleanse. can both be applied during quarantine trying to understand why Prazipro is not part of recommended quarantine medication.
  10. So i only bought the paracleanse and maracyn medications, i have the ich x arriving in a few days so im only treating my 40 gallon community tank with those two under aquarium co-op instructions for the whole trio, minus ich x obviously. I have a hyrda issue but i believe the paracleanse or maracyn are killing them off as the water is getting cloudy??! If so should i do a water change and re-dose according to the water taken out or wait the full treatment week to do the water change according to med trio instructions? Also according to aquarium co op instructions it says treat once then let the fish soak in it for one week to then do a 25% water change, wait 2 weeks and then dose again the 4th week? Do i put in carbon for those 2 weeks or wait till after the 2nd round of treatment
  11. Just about to finish a round of Paracleanse, on day 5 now. I want to do another 5 days, should I just dose as normal or should I do the water change and then dose?
  12. Co Op directions are to treat for a week then 25% water change, let rest for 2 weeks then treat one more week. Now after the first and last week of treatments should I put carbon in my filter to remove the medicine completely?
  13. Do we have a worked out amount to add ParaCleanse to food? How much ParaCleanse to how much food?
  14. I am getting ready to treat my 9 quarantined Kuhli Loaches for parasites. I posted before about how one of my 10 was very skinny and I had concerns about issues, and that skinny one did end up passing away. I have the Aquarium Co-Op med trio and just want to be sure it’s okay to dose Paracleanse as directed on the box, or if I need to use a different method because Kuhli Loaches are delicate. Thank you for your help!
  15. Stopped moving, went nose up and was unresponsive. My parameters were zero on everything with 8pH. My calico goldie looked like someone dumped bleach all over her. I scooped her out of the tank in and put her in clean fresh water. 5 hours later she's swimming around and seems ok now. Why would this have happened? 5 more mins and she would have been dead. Only thing in the tank was Prime. Any ideas? Thank you
  16. I noticed that the instructions for using paracleanse on aquarium co-ops website are different from the packaging. The package is a 5 day treatment, co-op is a 5 week treatment. I’m a little confused on what I should do.
  17. He still has stringy poo what else could it be I just dosed it with ich x and maracyn what else could it be ? Debating if adding some aquarium salt
  18. I am a bit confused about internal parasites. Does Para Cleanse do anything for internal parasites? I have studied the packaging and gotten myself confused. Is Expel P the one that removes tapeworms and such? Also Expel P says you need to gravel vac, however, we all know in planted tanks that is easier said than done. What is the risk of not vacing? Will salt kill the parasites that are in the water column seeking fish? Thanks in advance
  19. Trying to figure out what to do. I put a dose of Paracleanse in my tank yesterday morning as a follow-up of medicating 2 weeks ago. I didn't test my water before (Yes, I'm an airhead). I tested last night and it's between 20-40 nitrate. Do you think the fish will be ok until Saturday or should I change water sooner. I'll keep testing nightly. If I do change the water, do I add Paracleanse again?
  20. I bought the 3 medications that Cory recommended for using in a quarantine tank and now I can't find the video, Ich-X, Maracyn and ParaCleanse. Anyone remember how he uses them?
  21. Hello everyone, Does anyone know about discus diseases / parasites? I currently have a pair of 5 inch male discus in my 75 gal. Recently, they have been lethargic, dark in color, and a depleted appetite. Our water is hard where we live (80 GH) so I begun to use distilled water. I am now able to get the hardness down to 60. This helped only momentarily. I talked to a local aquarium sale clerk and she told me to use a UV light for parasites. Has anyone had any luck with this? She said that it kills all parasite. If my fish is already sick, is the UV unaffective? The same problem is believed to have killed 2 of my females. Thanks for any insight!
