Where are all the random buckets?

When you could order fish... or a burro...from the Sears Catalog

I heard this epic story on the Moth that I will not spoil, but I assure you that it relates to this thread: -
Welcome to the forum! Your tanks look great. I hope you start a journal to document your tanks.
-
I just hope folks don’t worry about tannins. I am too impatient and lazy to boil anything besides pasta.
-
I know that I have posted about local wood, but I have more Mopani and Spider wood than I can fit in my tanks. They seem to sink, and I don’t bother with any preparation.
-
I asked my dad, who has cut firewood since 1972, about which wood was the most dense in Vermont: “Hack hornbeam/leverwood/ironwood”
-
I like tannins with hard water like soft water folks enjoy crushed coral. At least feed some houseplants with that sweet tea!
-
Save it! Can I try to talk you out of boiling?

Duckweed as food.

Still amazed at the no clog air stones

@Cory I will correct my posts. Blue is more coarse than green! -
I have substrate that I love, but I am a broken record.

I believe @Cory got the old design back, which he rates higher with the blue felt. -
@xXInkedPhoenixX, I had the same assumption. I think that they rise to the surface in clay or sand, but in a rich substrate, decomposition provides oxygen. These worms came with the soil.

I finally got a couple of photos of one of the earthworms that has been living in this tank for over a year:

@Torrey, let me know. I think signing in to both services on mobile allows the connection.

@Gator, I only have bladder snails and ramshorn snails. They clean the glass and plant leaves for me. I recently moved my Yo-yo loach, and I picked the tank with the most snails, aka snacks!

I like algae, and I like snails. If I want to grow less algae, and fewer snails, I will reduce nutrients, and decrease lighting. Some inhabitants eat algae, and some eat snails, which means growing algae, and breeding snails. 🙂

Local Store hours and upcoming closures...
Streetwise replied to Brandy's topic in Edmonds Washington Retail Store Forum
What a lovely light dusting. It might need a plow in a day or two.😉 I have read about your drivers. Someone in Seattle said to park on flat roads in town to avoid getting hit. All-season tires actually means three-season tires. All-wheel drive does not equal all-wheel stop. However, my favorite thing about working in a school system as an adult, is the amazing feeling of getting a snow day! Cheers from Vermont! Yes, we would plow that overnight. -
For an outdoor tank with a glass side, you might be able to get away with ice, if all other sides were angled up. Ice expands.

I have been researching how we can do a Die Hard watch party.

Can you or anyone else educate me on macro algae? This wasn’t a marine tank topic in the 1990s, at least for me.
