  1. They are two different species. I'm not aware of these particular two species crossbreeding, but I am not sure.
  2. I think they are all juveniles. I got them a few weeks ago.
  3. I caught some footage of sparring behavior today. They are pretty fun to watch.
  4. I wanted a smaller schooling fish to accompany my empire gudgeons in my brackish paludarium, so I got a group of neon blue eyes (Pseudomugil cyanodorsalis). Unfortunately they started disappearing in the night and I think the gudgeons were the culprit, so I moved the gudgeons to my 75g. I got another group of neon blue eyes and a group of pacific blue eyes (Pseudomugil signifer) as an alternate option in case there was some other reason the neon blue eyes were disappearing. I also got a group of bumble bee gobies. They are so cute! I love them. The tank still doesn't look great though. In my 75g, I am trying out blyxa japonica on the left foreground.
  5. I haven't noticed much of difference in behavior when using Expel p on planaria and it also doesn't seem to kill them in my experience.
  6. I've only tried dwarf lily once. I didn't like how it looked so I removed it. Tiger lotus is one of my favorite plants and I have some in all of my tanks. I act under the assumption that all bulb plants need root nutrients so I add root tabs under mine, but I haven't tried not adding them to see the difference. I've seen tiger lotus come in two variants 1. red 2. green with red speckles. The dwarf lily I had was like an orangish brown. I found it quite drab. The dwarf lily I had, had pretty small leaves about 1.5" diameter, but I assume it could have gotten bigger. My tiger lotus have had a pretty big range of leaf size from about 1.5" to 8" diameter. Yes. You can trim them or leave them. Not in my experience. Pretty sure that is tiger lotus.
  7. Orange Venezuelan corys I think look the coolest. Sterbai are honorable mention because I love their orange fins.
  8. I love short rhizome plants, so I would add buce green wavy. I would cut baby tears because it is pretty similar to pearl weed.
  9. Oh, then yes, I think the foreground is male and the background is female.
  10. I got Pseudomugil signifer (pacific blue eye) & Pseudomugil cyanodorsalis (neon blue eye) recently for my brackish paludarium. The neon blue eyes are pretty passive and mostly stick to surface of the water. The females will sometimes come down to the middle and hangout with the pacific blue eyes. They are still very small, so I'm curious to see what they will look like and behave when they grow out. The pacific blue eyes are much more active and I like their color more. They mostly swim around the upper middle of the tank, but do swim all around. Males will spar with eachother, where they elongate their fins and swim around eachother. It's pretty amusing to watch. They are peaceful with my neon blue eyes, bumblebee gobys and shrimp.
  11. I would guess it's a male because of the orange tail fin. My female is completely yellow. My female My male
  12. It's sort of a mixed bag. Some have escaped (despite my best attempts to escape proof my tanks) and passed away before I found them (my red claw crab, one of my indian lilac crab, previously some gold claw fiddler crabs). One of my banana crabs arrived in not the best shape and never recovered. My female fiddler crab also disappeared. She had eggs a few times, so I think she reached the end of her life cycle. Currently I have 3 watermelon fiddler crabs and 2 gold claw fiddler crabs in my brackish paludarium. They are doing quite well, and always up to something silly like hanging upsidedown from the mesh top waving their claw. I have one banana crab, "peach," in my 40g. She mostly likes to hang out in her pleco cave during the day, but seems to be in good shape, and presumably forages at night. I have one indian lilac crab, "pomegranate," in my 75g. She is decently active and likes to walk around in the short plants, rocks and wood in the front of the tank. or climb the dwarf sag. She rests in the pleco cave next to dwarf sag on the right of the tank, directly on top of my crayfish's burrow 🙄. She also rests on the lip of my HOB filter when she wants to get out of the water (she also has a land enclosure she ignores).
  13. That thing is starting to creep me out *shudders*
  14. Some photos updates. 10g I got a trio of sparkling gourami's from @Cinnebuns 29g My new electric blue ram "Neptune" "Derp" the angelfish "Marge" the german blue ram "Shade" the german black ram 75g "Arrie" the rainbow shark "Jed" the electric blue acara "Opal" the three spot gourami "Honeybear 2" the honey gourami. Derp was bullying them in my 29g, so I moved them over here. 40g My new Araguaia dwarf acara "Marmaduke" Brackish
  15. In the book on brackish husbandry I have it says that adults can live in water with a salinity of up to 1.005SG. It also says when they breed, their fry generally drift down to brackish estuaries. It recommends raising fry in brackish or saltwater.
  16. 29g -I got rummy-nose tetra. They are my new favorite schooling fish! I got a black ram and what I think looks like a gold ram. More 29g photos 75g I moved my platies over to my 75g More photos: Brackish Paludarium I got empire gudgeons More photos 10g
  17. Angelfish are pretty nice In a super tall tank.
  18. I did a pretty major rescape of my brackish paludarium. -I removed 4-6 inches of sand. I initially added a lot, so I could make a large slope, but it didn't hold it's shape. -I removed all but 6 male guppies and plan to try empire gudgeons instead. -I started injecting co2 My 10g has most of my remaining guppies. I only kept the black, blue and purple ones with decent color. My cherry shrimp also finally started to breed! I also took some photos of new three spot gourami and electric blue acara
  19. 75g updates: -I caught most of the guppies in my 75g and paludarium and took them to my LFS. I ended up getting enough store credit for two three spot gourami and a gold roseline shark. -I added two three spot gourami and an electric blue acara to replace the hoard of guppies. "Jed" the EBA "Opal" the gourami -I removed the monte carlo that was on the left. I never liked how it looked so I finally gave up on it. I moved more Eriocaulon over to the front and added anubias to the cave. Some other decent photos I took today: I also got these rad "watermelon" fiddler crabs for my paludarium.
