  2. Dwarf chain sword is probably the easiest grass in my experience. Echinodorus Quadricostatus is also easy. Microsword gets my honorable mention. I can never get hair grass to do well.
  3. My favorite fish I have currently is probably my electric blue acara. My most wanted fish is an electric blue jack dempsey or a green terror. Top 10 fish I have in no particular order. 1. Electric blue acara 2. Turquoise rainbowfish 3. Koi angelfish 4. Three spot gourami 5. Koi swordtail 6. Panda apisto 7. Candy koi betta 8. Honey gourami 9. Apisto borelli 10. Red neon blue eye
  4. That's rad. I'm glad it didn't catch anubias rot.
  5. Dang, those are awesome crypts. Makes me want to shop around for some less common species/variants.
  6. I like this tank a lot. Is that a giant anubias in the middle!? How long did it take to grow that thing?
  7. You could try an apisto borelli as a centerpiece fish. Apistos like soft water and borelli are one of the more adaptable species when it comes to ph and temperature. I have a pair in my 10g with shrimp and nano fish.
  8. Love the bird photos! I think birds are my favorite type of non-aquatic animal to observe and photograph. Especially uncommon ducks and geese.
  9. For decor I like dragonstone and driftwood the most. For hiding places I like ceramic cichlid/pleco caves and then attaching plants to them like java moss, anubias or bucephalandra. Sometimes I like to make my own caves using rocks. Honestly I love covering all types of decor with plants.
  10. These three I setup around October - December 2022: 75g 29g 40g
  11. I haven't had any issues keeping fancy goldfish with peppered corys personally
  12. New vampire crab paludarium setup + large photo dump New Tank: 20h paludarium featuring vampire crabs, a betta, a golden dwarf cichlid, panda garra, white clouds, CPO crayfish and black ruby barbs. These were the first plants I received, so these are all air plants. First draft "Saphira" the betta (f) At this point it was just the betta and white clouds. It was looking pretty sparse, so I got these panda apistos "Roxi" the panda apisto Unfortunately Roxi claimed the entire tank as her territory and terrorized the other fish, so I swapped them with my golden dwarf cichlid. "Comet" the golden dwarf cichlid The mountain minnows were still pretty freaked out even though Roxi was gone and the rest of the fish were getting along, so I got a few dither fish. Black ruby barbs Several weeks later Mandarin vampire crabs White cloud Panda garra "Saphira" the candy koi betta (f) CPO crayfish 40g Koi swordtail "Sky" and "Roxi" the panda apistos. Roxi has been much less of a terror in this tank "Hazel" the goldfish "Banana" the rabbit snail "Penny" the albino bristelnose pleco 10g I messed up my monte carlo carpet, so I did a bit of a rescape. 13. I would just wrap each bunch in a plant weight before planting it and hope for the best. You could also try aquarium coop easy planters.
  14. Rainbowfish, peacock gudgeon or kribensis are some good options imo. Three spot gourami or empire gudgeon are potentially good options, but they may or may not get along with your community.
  15. You don't have to ask me twice to share some aquarium photos. This is my 75g and its inhabitants.
  16. It looks like they are restricted, so you would need a permit to posses them legally. https://wildlife.ca.gov/Licensing/Restricted-Species
  17. These do look a lot like the true freshwater gobies that Dan's and aquatic arts sell, not sure if they are though. They also do not look like the brackish ones that I have.
  18. I agree with others that marine salt should be used rather than aquarium salt. For plants I've had success with tiger lotus, hygrophila siamensis 53b, narrow leaf ludwigia and swords. Bolbitas fern also seems to do okay (at worst it dies very slowly) . I'm still experimenting with micro sword. Buce, anubias and crypts I have tried and they did not work for me.
  19. Photo updates: 40g "Marmaduke" the dwarf araguia acara Koi swordtail "Aileen" the green dragon bristelnose pleco "Gogo" the fantail goldfish 75g "Blueberry" the red cheek crayfish I got these pretty cool red rainbowfish recently "Mars" "Saturn" "Buttercup" the gold gourami "Opal" the opalescent gourami Pearl gourami "Jed" the electric blue acara I also got some ottos to help with algae on my plants 10g I did a pretty big rework on my 10g. I rehomed my guppies and the tank now has a pair of apisto borelli, honey gourami and sparkling gourami. I also got these pretty rad red neon blue-eye rainbowfish. 20. I think rummynose tetra are the best for smallish schooling fish. Otherwise, I really like American cichlids. Electric blue acaras are probably my favorite, but all the ones I've kept have been fun.
  21. Here's a bunch of video clips for anyone who wants to see my fish, crustaceans and tanks. "Pomegranate" the indian lilac crab learning about personal boundaries with "Blueberry" the red cheek crayfish. More "Blueberry" the red cheek crayfish footage "Pomegranate" climbing to the top of the universe and dropping down to the world below. 22. Brackish Paludarium I've been trying out something potentially untested with peacock gudgeons in my low end brackish tank. The thought being that many fish in the eleotridae have brackish tolerance and spend parts of their lives in brackish water. Also the family is thought to have evolved from marine fish. So far, so good. They have been doing quite well and are very fun to watch. "Falco" the peacock gudgeon "Foxy" the peacock gudgeon Fiddler crabs Bumblebee goby 75g "Blueberry" the red cheek crayfish Siamease algae eaters and baby reticulated hillstream loaches "Jed" the electric blue acara "Lance" the guppy 10g My two male apisto borelli that were in my 40g were lip locking, so I thought it best to separate them. I decided to put one in my 10g. Also, I was getting tired of breeding guppies, so I decided to take my female adult guppies to my LFS and moved the males to other tanks. Now the tank has a pair of apisto borelli and some sparkling gourami. "Pluto" the apisto borelli. This is the one that was dominating the other in my 40g so I decided to move it "Venus" the apisto borelli Sparkling gourami Cherry shrimp 40g "Comet" the golden dwarf cichlid "Mecury" the golden dwarf cichlid "Marmaduke" the araguia dwarf acara "Aura" the apisto borelli "Hazel" and "Gogo" the goldfish 29g "kuhli loach" "Sol" the apisto agassizii fire red "Luna" the apisto agassizii fire red "Derp" the angelfish
  23. My brackish paludarium is looking the best it's ever has! The only issue is that the buce and anubias died off. I may try one more time with them or just switch to bolbitas fern which seems to do better in low end brackish. Moss are another option. I'm open to suggestions for what would look good on the wood and rocks. Fiddler Crabs This one is missing their big claw, but seems to being doing well otherwise. I'm not exactly sure what happened, but I later saw my flagfish biting at one of the other fiddler crabs big claws so I think they are the culprit and I moved them to my 75g. The claw should grow back on their next molt. Ghost Shrimp bumblee goby Pacific blue-eye rainbowfish 75g "Pomegranate" the indian lilac crab surveilling her kingdom from on high. Look out below!
