Absolutely. I keep tons of house plants in my fish room because it means less water I have to carry away🤣

I always water my house plants from my tanks. But I never remember to use the water change water to do it. I always use my turkey baster to grab water from the tanks to water my house plants. But I only have 2 to water right now so not much is needed lol.

Yesterday was an adventure. Went to the LFS to get frog crickets. 0578C7A2-7051-41B6-A066-4A6005189BD8.jpeg.b76c4b85d2c45fb8ce56ccc9f67fd604.jpeg
In the tank on the counter was 6 of my dream fish Asian stone anchor cat fish. So of course they came home with me. 15CCEAA1-FBB9-4346-A10D-EE054857D6CB.jpeg.632298b74421022d43982b453fb38058.jpegA18BDC8E-1C64-43CE-A666-BE9E1D977D82.jpeg.da41e1bcb96cf993ebcf4eca4c5b88f8.jpegF3C0ACAF-076F-4969-A639-6F2E618821EB.jpeg.7caaf2d2882119129c3f68e9e0575160.jpegF3C0ACAF-076F-4969-A639-6F2E618821EB.jpeg.7caaf2d2882119129c3f68e9e0575160.jpegF914E9EF-17E0-4B84-8979-9CE4EBF13229.jpeg.a17f6547e8afaec650f5b01d68b10efc.jpeg

Two weeks ago they had young Badis Badis. This week the one littlest one was left. Took almost half an hour to catch him. Crazy fast and sneaky. If course my heart melted so he came home with me. He/she will live in the least killi tank with the anchor cats. His job for now is to control LK fry and grow 🥰D4613175-BC6D-42D4-B0AF-9608C5AD0E40.jpeg.8126905956a4606e670b727ec8f034d9.jpeg

I had no QT tank but a dream fish sitting in front of me I could not pass up. So I pulled some LK out to a snail tank just in case something was wrong with these kids and put them in there. I thought about putting the new kids with the snails but if I had to medicate I was not risking my piano snails.
🤷‍♀️

HAPPY ADVENTURES…TRY SOMETHING NEW.

Endings and beginnings.
I did indeed have 2 female scarlet badis. I observed the mating embraces, egg bellies and distended vents with both.
There was a lady I got to know on a Band channel of about 10 people who has similiar fish likes to me who breeds several of my someday fish.
She has been trying forever to get females.
Knowing how rare the females are I started to feel bad knowing no time in the near foreseeable future was I going to get a chance to try and breed these. I felt selfish having two girls and doing nothing.
I felt it was the right thing to give them to someone who would actively breed them.  I offered the group to her. She drove 2 hours to pick them up they were that important to her. I sold them to her for what I paid for them. I did not want to profit from sn act of kindness I was doing for the good of the hobby.
Had this situation not come about I would have kept them. I adored them but I always try to do what feels right not necessarily what I like best.

Other big change.

This one was VERY hard for me. It has taken me a week to not be so sad I could share the story.
Lefty and Angel were looking cramped in the 29 with 6 honey gourami. I could tell they needed a larger tank. It felt like they had no swim room or elbow space. The volume was fine but not enough floor space.
The old timer asked if I was willing to sell them when he was at my house. He fell in love with them. Who wouldn’t they are beautiful. I chose to sell them to him. They now reside in a beautiful larger tank all by themselves. Decorated entirely for their comfort. They seem happy in his tank. I miss them though. Maintenance day I cried again. I’m so used to watching to make sure I don’t catch their tail with the siphon. Yesterday I was getting veggies for the tanks and ended up with extra. I realized i prepped enough for them. 😢

So here is Lefty and Angels old tank without them. I added some river stones so the floor did not look so empty. I dropped the water line so the surface was more still and made a floating ring to contain surface agitation. The gourami are very interested so maybe they will build a bubble nest for me.

I’m sure it’s difficult watching fish you have cared for and loved so much go to a new home, but it sounds like they are in an amazing new aquarium and hopefully still loving life;)

They are loved. He moved things about. They are front and center where he spends the most time in his fish room.

You are an amazing human!  There are not many that would be so thoughtful beyond their own 4 walls to look to the greater good of the hobby to get that group of scarlet badis to someone who is more likely to breed them.

Then to give up your well-established and well-loved pair of LF lemons to someone who has made them the center of his fishy world?  Exceptional kindness!

I’m sorry that you miss them but what very kind and generous choices you’ve made!

Your GBR’s are adorable.
