I recently rested some Root Tabs on the substrate near one of my swords in my dads display tank, the plant found it by day 6 and had cocooned it by day 38. It was immensely satisfying to watch!

I love these fish! They can sadly only successfully breed on salt water(a bit like Amanos, the fry have to be transitioned from fresh to saltwater and back again😑) but I really should keep more of them. It looks like what my LFS calls S. Elegans. I should keep more of everything, but hey-ho! -
Trimming Dead Leaves

In that case it’s just melting back so that it can grow better leaves to help it adapt and thrive in its new environment, give it a week or two. -
What Fish species do you think has the most problems?
TheSwissAquarist replied to Hally M.'s topic in General Discussion
I managed to breed some in freshwater (before they died 😢) and I have a small colony of 8 fully converted ones of which I hope to breed more in the future. I think the trick is to get the really might-pop-any-day-now female so that the fry are immediately used to pure freshwater. -

Yes I have confirmed that he is fine with it (he does so himself on Facebook) and I have never said the brand name at all. I have been very careful not to do that! I could ask that, but I doubt it’ll work. No harm in trying though! -
Maybe try root tabs to ‘feed’ the plant, as I’ve seen this when I put an Amazon sword in a new tank: there just isn’t enough nutrients in the substrate for it!

Long way to go on that one 😂. Next time I'll have a betta tattooed on my neck😜 See what they come back with! But I'll try my best and see how it works! I'm friends with most of the aquarists in the area either way. -

It may facilitate communication, but it is quite annoying that you can't live without it in the western world. -

I know I can’t help everyone, because that would be unproductive, and I had to deal with someone complaining about a filter. He forgot to add the motor 🤦♂️. Really had to hold it in😂😂😂. I’ve already read the (un)official guidelines, and I do take great pleasure in selling some persons first fish for their tank. A 7-9yo wanted 6 angelfish for a 20 gal. I persuaded him to take the koi swordtails around the corner😀. -

Algorithms 😏. I saw a really cool XXL glass orb the other day which the owner (my uncles friend) had scaped beautifully and it had the most enormous (but very cute) bichir in. I’ll try and take a picture next time! -

Hello fellow Nerms! After a seeing dumbo guppies being kept with tiger barbs in my LFS, I applied for a Saturday job. Today as soon as I got to the store, I put on my branded shirt and immediately started feeding fish. My LFS is sort of like a Home Depot, but with a massive fish section. As I was walking along, I checked for sick/dead fish and saw about 15 😩! Later I talked to the store manager (nice guy) that if we put live plants and a couple more hiding places in the tanks, in the long run we would save a lot of cash in the long term. He said he’d think about it 😏. I also had the pleasure (I’ve dreamed of this ) of doing an unboxing! Mostly standard stuff, but some very cool bettas and some transparent tetra I have never seen before. Do you have any recommendations on how to serve customers ? I’m posting this before midday, when the store opens. Have a nice day!

Curse you! You make me want to set up another tank! (Nice scape and endlers btw)
