  1. Do you have quick disconnects on lines if so, I have read that it's possible to slow down the flow. I`ve never tried that but don`t see why not.
  2. I don`t know much about stocking numbers but I wonder why you want to have less. Is the sponge your only filtration? I think your tank looks nice😀
  3. Me also but a lot of people will pay those high prices no matter what. IMO a light for $200 or more is just crazy. But people fall into the trap and that lets companies laugh all the way to the bank. When I buy a tank, I like to think I got a good deal, will I spend high dollars for a tank maybe? (I`ve never had a tank break yet.) I don`t think I would buy a used tank.
  4. Only a problem if the hum bothers you. All air pumps that I`ve tried make some type of noise🙃. While I could put a high output pump in the basement to run all tanks (I only have 6 tanks soon to be 7) it's a hassle IMO. Seems like most pumps of this type use 2 to 4 watts. I could post a picture, but you will laugh. I don`t have 5v pumps, I think the power cable is rated for 5v. All of these pumps use lithium batteries. A 12v lithium battery is very expensive. (I have 5 in my boat 60Ah and 100Ah) As a side note the only reason I went with these types of pumps was the ease of mounting on a wall. I wanted to get stuff off the floor including power. With pumps and power mounted on the wall it's easy to access for me. Looks strange but I don`t care.
  5. I have four different battery backup pumps and they work just fine. I would say get those that have the biggest battery that will make a difference. All of mine are mounted on the wall and no matter where they are placed, they all hum. I do have a ACO pump it only has one outlet and its ok, does not seem to put out a lot of air but it works. My power strips are also mounted on the wall. Good luck.
  6. Here is a silly question but I would think a high lumen light or lights could work?? I`m not into lots of different plants (I might have 3) but I would try high lighting because I think that would work.
  7. The only thing I see Amano`s do is steal food they don`t like to share🙃 they also go everywhere in the tank and like to hang out on wood or plants.
  8. I agree, but I think I would check with a glass shop just in case it could be fixed. (That would also make me nervous.)
  9. Welcome, nice looking setup how long have you been in the hobby, how many different types of plecos do you have.
  10. I have to agree, I have a Fluval 107 and a 207 and while you are limited by 2 or 3 trays, they are simple to use and setup. I have said this before but my go to can is the 10L stainless steel, if you break this, something is very wrong, easy to service - easy to replace the pump if needed. Yes it`s expensive but cheaper that some other canisters and I know it will last. I will get another when I setup my next tank.
  11. I also have these little pumps but don`t use them 24/7, so far, I haven't had one fail. I remember this and some people had a high failure rate and there were some fixes, when I do use this pump it's for hatching BBS or use in a temporary home. I would think a company could make this pump more reliable, I sure like how quiet they are.
  12. That could lead to MTS in a hurry 🙃 welcome do you have any pictures.
  13. That sounds great what size tank do you have, pictures would be nice😜
  14. A neat idea but I think I would start with several types of shrimp, you start with 4 or so and before you know it you got a hundred or more. IMO a lot easier to raise than fish. Good luck to whatever you decide to do.
  15. Yes welcome, tanks look great what size are they.
  16. Let's say I had my fill of lots of different fish years ago, so this time around I wanted guppies again a couple of pleco`s and some pygmy cory's (21in 2 tanks, to me they are fascinating little fish, never had before.) also a few ottos. I also got the bug for shrimp, so some red rili - cherry - black and some amano`s. There's only two other fish I would keep, one is a Butterfly Goby also called a Wasp fish and they need brackish water the other is a Belonesox belizanus also called a pike top minnow the female will give birth to 100 babies 1 inch long and they like baby guppies. I have had these fish 25 years ago but unable to find them now.
  17. Guppies are great, I have a 20T with guppies and so far, I don`t separate them until I have to many, then I take some to the LFS. CO-OP sells a good fry food, and it will last a long time. Good luck.
  18. Last winter the tanks were between 69 --73 or so. Now they are between 73.9 -- 76.4. (House temp is 72 -- 74 right now) will go up a bit till I turn on the A/C later today. I haven`t check temps when A/C was running, now you have me wondering🙁.
  19. Will be keeping an eye on how you do this, very interesting. I also have an Amano with eggs but I`m not setup to try and raise little ones or if I would have the patience or smarts to do so.
  20. I think I would try, just to see what's inside. There are times I have trouble opening a bottle of water or jar, but I like to tinker with stuff. (Sometimes I wait till someone stops by and I say open this 🙃) A while back for reasons I don`t understand I replaced my air pumps with ones that had battery backup and then did the silly thing and hung them on the wall, might not be good to do with cats around 😼, If possible, I would like to know what was wrong with your pump.
  21. Is this moss the same stuff that grows on the north side of trees (you know when your lost in the woods😜) I have some moss back along my fence but never thought about use in an aquarium, very interesting. Nice job.
  22. Yes welcome, very nice-looking aquariums what size are they. Guppies look awesome 😀
  23. Since I don`t have a green thumb I`m able to save lots of money.
  24. I`m kind of dumb here but what kind of stands are you talking about (I have a vague idea.) I think that whatever is used as long it is level that is what counts.
