  1. Love your idea of breading up to the amount you ultimately want in your display tank!! Great idea!
  2. I noticed you wanted to try out some German Blue Rams. I have a new 75 gal planted tank that I have yet to stock w/ anything besides the cleanup crew. I too wanted to try my hand w/ rams and then learned they need to be kept in pretty warm water - 84 degrees. 84* is just too warm for my current plants and the other fishies I want to stock...sooo, now I am trying to figure out where my next tank for the rams should be placed in my house! 🤪
  3. I used a rubber mallet to get the plastic to move those last couple inches.
  4. I saw this question posted someplace else and I thought the conversation it provided was awesome! I’ve learned that Molly’s are pigs and bully a lot of other fish around and many people don’t care for them. 🤷🏻‍♀️ The things you learn…😉 What is/was your least favorite fish in your community tank and why?
  5. This way was my most successful attempt! I never would have guessed those things would kick my rear the way they did!
  6. Well that certainly sounds easier than what I had to do. Heating it up helped but I still yelled and screamed at. I have one more kid to do. I shall try your method on that one.
  7. Thank you for your thoughtful reply. I will give heating it up a try!
  8. Alright. I can not for the life me of me figure out how to get the plastic piece onto the back of the hinged glass top for the aquarium. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Is there a trick? I’m so afraid of cracking either piece but maybe I just need to use more force? Help me out here, what’s the trick.
  9. @Colu Thank you for advising on a med change. Any insight on how those meds effect the fry and will that bacteria live on my plants and transfer to my other tank?
  10. I have a quarantine tank set up with plants that I am going to put into my big tank. I am almost finished hardscaping the tank and then I can add the plants and water. I purchased 3 platys for my son's tank and put them in the quarantine tank w/ my plants and ran them through an ick treatment. During that time one of them had babies so now there are fry in the tank too. Towards the end of the treatment I noticed they started getting fin rot. So, I started a med trio cycle last Thursday afternoon. Yesterday I was confident in my suspicions that all 3 platys have columnaris. 😑. This morning one the platys died and the other 2 are starting to display the same hiding sick behavior. Questions: Do I euthanize the remaining 2 fish or continue on with the treatment. They don't look too happy or healthy. What do I do w/ the fry? Do you automatically assume they have columnaris too? One of them is floating at the surface about ready to die. What about the plants? Are they now contaminated and is it a terrible idea to use them in my 75gal? I am just so worried about messing up my big tank that I have been working on for so long. Thank you for your insight and help.
  11. @Cory Thanks for the reply! I definitely need to treat, 2 fish have fin rot and 1 is all clamped down. 😐 My next concern is withholding feedings from the fry while I treat. Should I keep doing brine shrimp throughout the treatment?
  12. I bought 3 platys the other day and added them to my cycled hospital tank. The next night one of them had babies, so I have about 13 fry in the tank too. I need to run the fish through the med trio before I add them to my established community tank. Can I do that now that I have fry or will the meds hurt the fry? Do I need to set up another hospital tank and move 3 of them over there and run them through the trio? Thank you!
  13. Trying to decipher my GH reading. I tested my tap water here and the GH turns a bright purple that does not line up with any of the colors listed. I am in So Cal and I have the hardest water.
  14. @Spewing_nonsense_ Here you go. I was having a hard time getting one uploaded last night.

    Help!!!

@Fish Folk I used tap water treated w/ dechlorinator. I am using a primed sponge filter I had in his original tank incase something like this happened. Water parameters are: Ammonia - 0 Nitrate - 25 Nitrite - 0 PH - 7.6 Chlorine - 0 Also, he is only using his pectoral fins if needs to move. It's as if he can't/doesn't want to use his tail. Here is a picture of him.
  16. Hi there, I feel so awful and need some advice. Some back info: My tank came down with ich, I treated w/ ich x and everyone made it through. (1 yellow glo Betta & 5 neon tetras) I noticed my Betta's tail was looking a little ragged but I thought that was from the ich and was watching to see if it was going to heal. I also noticed that there was a red stripe more visible going down his body to his tail. He had been acting normal and eating normal until he jumped out of the tank one evening. My son scooped him up and put him back in his tank and he swam to his sleeping spot and just stayed there which was understandable. The next day Irene posted the 5 most common diseases for Betta's and I realized my poor little guy was actually sick with Fin Rot and Septecemia. I broke out the hospital tank and started treating him with Maracyn and Ich x. He is on day 4 of treatment and he is just floating in the tank not moving, sometimes almost floating parallel to the surface. I can see that his tail has a little blood where it connects to his body and part if it is missing - I am thinking that happened when he was rescued when he jumped out. My main question is, do I keep treating him and hope he pulls through or is it too much suffering and should I put him to sleep? (Sorry my 1st go w/ fish I am used to dogs). Thank you for your kind suggestions!

  18. I’m pretty sure she used this type of filter https://www.aquariumcoop.com/collections/sponge-filters/products/aquarium-co-op-coarse-sponge-filter And you could use this air pump if you don’t have an extra laying around. https://www.aquariumcoop.com/collections/air-pumps/products/usb-nano-air-pump
  19. Dear Aquarium Co-Op, I LOVE your branding but, much like Amazon it tips my hubby off to my purchases. 🙃 Maybe you could provide an "I have to hide my purchases from my spouse" option at check out?? 🤣 Anyhow, thanks for getting my order out quickly! Can't wait to put all my new goodies to use! 🐟
  20. 15 gal, 0 ammonia. 0 nItrites, 20 nitrates. Gravel substrate w/ fake plants. 1 betta, 5 neon tetra, 1 bala shark (his friends died). Tank has been established since December 1st and nothing new added...UNTIL today around 3pm. I added some red root floaters to the tank. Tonight around 10pm I noticed signs of Ich on my Bala shark. I feel confident in my research and plan on how to treat the Ich However I was wondering, can the addition of live plants today at 3pm cause signs of Ich in my fish that quickly at 10pm? Thank you for your thoughts...:)
  21. @tnnlynch I decided to make my life less stressful and returned the tank. Also, someone mentioned painting the back of the tank black and the clear silicone looked terrible. I went with a tank & stand combo from Marineland. Their tank was constructed with more attention to detail and used black silicon. It’s sitting in my garage right now full of water so I can check for leaks. 🤗 It was 77* here in So Cal today - no chance of freezing! 🥵
  22. Hey @StephenP2003 & @O13SC3N3 thanks so much! You have both been a big help!
  23. Thank you! Can you add any help with picture #1. Why all the silicone under the rim in the corners?
