  1. spider wood doesnt tend to be very dense. it will probably sink in a week or two. now i have some thats been in water for a couple of years that doesnt float, but it doesnt take much to make it mobile in water. malaysian driftwood, and mopani are pretty dense and usually sink instantly.
  2. store bought guppies can be tough to keep alive. usually if you can get a store bought guppy past 3 weeks, then you got good ones. hard to tell, but if those red things i see in that tank are shrimp, and you are keeping them alive, its for sure the guppies themselves. sometimes its the fish are weak, sometimes it is the water they were raised in compared to yours. im told many breeders will raise them in mildly brackish water, and the transition to pure fresh water too fast can be hard on them.
  3. id adjust the legs, and shim them if need be. the tank doesnt have to be perfectly level, close is good enough. main thing is the base of the tank sit flat and even on the top of the stand.
  4. rain, rain, and more rain. beats the heck out of snow, snow, and more snow!
  5. that is mold, i have no idea the best ay to get rid of it without tossing everything.
  6. looks like a platy, and chinese algae eater.
  7. as long as sneezy, dopey, and doc were okay!
  8. i want to know how you count them??? i have a hard enough time with a couple dozen guppies.
  9. nerite herpes. that is the work of a female nerite snail.
  10. im not an angelfish person myself, but because of their finnage i would suggest a 29 as a minimum as it gives them some height for their fins.
  11. absolutely, they dont exist in the wild in what fish keepers consider the environment they should be in.
  12. living in a glass box isnt ideal either.
  13. carbon will likely help reduce it, or a few water changes.
  14. actually, cory's really do fine on gravel. only concern would be if it had sharp edges, which most aquarium gravel doesnt.
  15. hot water, and some vinegar. scrub it out good, rinse a couple times, and should be good.
  16. if they are out, they are fine on their own. as for the lfs, call and ask them how big they like them.
  17. if its the clown pleco eating on it, he's really hungry. clown's like to eat wood, they not to not be big eaters of algae, and plants.
