  1. i have never had a problem with either. tissue culture plants tend to be on the smaller side starting out vs potted. the 1 real big difference is you wont get snails with a tissue culture plant.
  2. for just 1 fish, i myself would personally not buy a hatchery. buy frozen brine shrimp, blood worm etc, whatever. i believe there are some smaller hatcheries out there if you really wanted to try it out, or do a DIY hatchery, but for 1 fish even a tiny amount off brine shrimp eggs will give a ton of hatched shrimp.
  3. wow i missed this thread. tank looks great. i'll be honest, i saw the first pic before i read, and my first thought was oh no i hope thats not going to be the stand.😲
  4. not quite sure how the bird got in there again, but here's one for loretta lynn. 90 years isnt a terrible run.
  5. so the clerk was one of those people who are "you must do exactly as i say or everything is going to die". id just ignore that person. super glue is pretty darned safe, its original purpose was for gluing wounds shut.
  6. im hoping to not see that white stuff for a while yet.
  7. some people never take them out of the pots. wont hurt a thing to leave them in the pots for a few weeks or even a month or two.
  8. snails, shrimp, and some fish, all openings must be smaller than the convicts trying to escape.😜
  9. with the exception of a serious sub zero blast, the co-ops plants will get to you fine (as long as the usps doesnt lose them).
  10. i agree with any plant. if they can climb on or in it, and pick at the bio film, and algae on it, its good.
  11. holding water to offgas chlorine is a good idea, but unless you know what type of water treatment is done, just assume they use chloramines, and those dont readily offgas.
  12. if you get long power outages, ie more than a few hours then a battery backup of sorts is not a bad idea. if power does go out, you can always wrap the tanks in towels or blankets to help slow the heat loss.
  13. is that your first one? if so, ill warn you, they can become addicting. i stopped at 3, but its been over 30 years since the last one and i still get the urge or desire once in a while.
  14. i kept local wild caught crayfish a few decades ago. about all i have for you is they will eat just about anything they can get in their claws. from pellets, and flake to minnows if they can manage to catch one.
  15. that is sooooo much better than the normal snails you get with plants! go buy your lottery ticket!
  16. while lighting may play a part in the appearance, that looks to be a darker female endler.
  17. no doubt. give me 2 stores that have what i want both with reasonable pricing and ill pick the one i know is going to ship quick, well packed, and will handle any problem that may arise.
  18. id give em a small amount of salt. id be willing to bet they come from tanks with a decent amount of salt in them, and a little may help them transition.
  19. ill bet its fine. my bottom feeders favorite is wardley shrimp pellets, and that has to be about the worst name in fish foods. try a small size, not the jumbo size first!😎
  20. hope rockfisher and anyone else in the area gets through this with little or no damage. ive been through typhoons on ships, i would not want to do it in a house.
  21. black velvet is one that has always stuck with me. the words/meaning, and for me her voice is soul stirring.
