  1. fritzyme7, and fluval cycle have done well for me.
  2. id rinse it and rub the spots with my fingers. then keep an eye on it.
  3. 6 months or so if you start with a pair, 3 months with a trio.😲
  4. lets get serious, 3000 guppies!
  5. yup, that is an anubia flower. its a sign your plant is doing well. lots of plecos like the eat them things too.
  6. 7.2 ph, just about anything will go in that. if you are fairly handy and have some basic tools, you could build your own stand.
  7. that is really borderline. i would consider that a tank for an unfinished basement, or a garage, somewhere all the water wont cause much damage should it fail.
  8. the main issue with a heater of too much wattage, is when it sticks on, and eventually it probably will, you get boiled fish.
  9. i remember those days, even had long hair myself!😎
  10. i say that is just air bubbles, not foam. i would not be concerned about that at all.
  11. hmm even the big drain in march should have no affect now. i would start thinking has anything changed, amount of food, hours of lighting, filtration changes. even tap water chemistry could have changed slightly triggering it. unless you can nail down something that changed, i would give it a week or more without changing water to let the tank try and get the bloom under control on its own. small daily water changes may not harm it, but could also keep resetting whatever is going on.
  12. how long has the tank been up and running?
  13. for strictly pan fish, it is hard to beat a whippy spineless little rod. 4-6# test line, and a half decent spinning reel. just absolute fun when panfish go sideways or start spinning with a very light rod. as a bonus with a limp rod you can actually get a little hook set in without ripping the lips off the fish.
  14. to be honest, your plastic set up did not look bad, but the plants take it to the next level as far as looks go. not to mention the benefits live plants provide.
  15. it happens. i run everything for a tank on a power strip, that way i just turn off the strip, and when im done if by chance i forget ill notice pretty quickly the tank has no lights as a reminder to turn it back on.
  16. some time they will eat food, spit it out, and eat again etc. i believe it is that the food is too big to swallow, and they are attempting at breaking it down to swallow. i could be wrong, but that is my theory.
  17. fine, bristlenose and clown max at about 5", the 2 will have plenty of space.
  18. wedge t into the substrate, put a rock on it, or my favorite get a piece of slate, drill a hole in the slate, and screw the wood tot he slate. screwed to a piece of slate, it wont float any more!😎
  19. first thing first, with 3 females you are not only going to be over run, it is going to happen kind of fast. if you are interested in not inter breeding, you might consider getting a few more 10g tanks. every 30 to 35 days give or take a few, each one of those 3 females is going to have anywhere between 20, and 100+ each month. find friends, family etc, anyone you can to take the fry you dont want, and even consider having a couple of fish that will predate the fry to keep the numbers in check.
  20. there is a big thread on the pumps somewhere back in this section.
