  1. 20g long. I am unsure of the brand I will buy and exact dimensions @Lennie. I am looking into it now. Thanks, 20g long is what I was thinking. Is this a 20g long? Considering a long instead of high. https://www.petsmart.com/fish/tanks-aquariums-and-nets/aquariums/aqueon-standard-glass-rectangle-aquarium-5345488.html
  2. Ok, that is good. No fish. How long have u been in the cycling process. For the plants, @Mmiller2001 or another plant person should be able to help there @AquaLove
  3. Hoping that your are in the cycling process? Because the ammonia is dangerously high. If there is fish in the tank, then add prime with daily water changes @AquaLove. Maybe I am misunderstanding. and then we can talk plants.
  4. Stocking ideas. Any centerpiece fish ideas? Bottom dweller fish ideas? Schooling fish ideas? Thanks! How many fish can I have in a 20g. I am getting one very soon, thanks again.
  5. Welcome to the forum! @Unemployed Fish Nerd! Hope you can post pictures of your tanks soon!
  6. Ok, the problem with the shipping with AC is that I live on the opposite side of the US. So it should be here on Wednesday. Good news, my nerite snail has a appetite for algae lol. He is awesome. I might get a 20 gallon in the next week! Maybe, i am looking for a table first to put it on, and i had to save some money so it will not crush my bank account lol Mini update :) Edit: I AM getting a 20g!! I am planning on some honey gouramis and panda corys. I am still thinking of what schooling fish I want🤔.
  7. I am sorry for your loss. Losing a fish is never fun....😥
  8. Yes the bigger the tank, it will be better if you can get a used if possible. But there are some banger deals at petco/petsmart for bigger ones as well. The empty ones are always cheaper if sold with the tank only. If around the same price of new and used, new should always be the choice, because if new its... new lol. But if it is not the same price range and is in good shape, used is my vote again (IMO)
  9. @Guupy42. I got it! Looked up your name and requested to join, all you have to do is accept it. I can play with you on like a wednesday because almost every other day i am pretty busy. It says AC members welcome , nice touch 😉
  10. It looks amazing, can’t wait to follow everything in the future! @Charestv
  11. Oooh interesting, definitely going to watch this! Thanks for sharing @Lisa P
  12. Maybe not a 90%, but a 50% should be good. I have the exact same daphnia in the zoo med trio actually! I would feed every two days during maracyn treatment. If he doesn’t have enough energy to come up to eat, soak in a separate cup of water (the water from the tank). @Colu a disease expert should help more on the maracyn treatment. He is really helpful. He is really good at helping for diseases. He almost saved my betta fish. Vey glad he is on this forum. Hope he shows up here to help.
  13. Maybe if you treat with maracyn that could help. But water quality is so imphasied for HITH disease, it can be a game changer, but if it starts getting worse medication might be needed @JosiahBass, that is my 2 cents lol
  14. Thanks! I will 100% look into that @Guupy42
  15. Oh ok, your good, glad you dont want to either. Idk why i said he might know the disease, i ment he might know about some more info on treatment care etc.
  16. Same way i started. A betta and a uncycled 5g tank. Went to petsmart. Got the tank AND betta the SAME day! Not a smart way to do it, but i had no clue how to keep fish. I did noy cycle it. My betta (name Mario) lived for 2 weeks. Then i said, there is something more to having a tank with healthy fish. He was good while he lasted, i only fed pellets. He got a white cotton like growth on his back fin and stayed right by my heater. He died very quickly. Next fish, Sonic. He lived for 1 and a half years, then he died a few months back. he was the best fish. He went through a tumor, fin clamp, fin rot, swim bladder, and a lot of other issues. He was the best fish i have ever had. My first two fish were named after video game charecters for some reason, mainly because mario looked like he had a mustach lol. Sonic was blue and the first day i got him, he was flying through the tank. Skip to the present. I have a empty 5g, a 10g with white cloud minnows and a snail. I am planning on a 20g tank now, and will post some topics about it.
  17. Bladder snail. Your gonna have a lot more than that soon lol, cool! @CoryWithAKatana Oh no, I am not a Floridian lol. I know it probably doesn’t mater 😆 I am kidding.
  18. My older sister kept a betta and a African dwarf frog. The betta lived for 5 years actually! So that kinda inspired me to keep them, because I was so curious about this hobby, my friend has a 20g long, and a couple of nano tanks. He is now not as interested as me, (not that he doesn’t care now) but that I have a love for this amazing hobby, I just was trying something new, and it clicked!! I will just stare at my tank for hours literally…. I love it. I love the plant aspect of fish keeping, it’s almost as good as the fish itself!
  19. I am sorry, I was just mentioning colu so he might be able to help you…. I was not hating, idk what that means, but I am not trying to start something…..😕 my bad. @JosiahBass…. pictures would be great. I read that crystal clear water helps a lot, more frequent water changes and such, agree with @jwcarlson
  20. @Colu. He might not have experience with bass but he might know the disease
  21. Man, ok thanks, it is very stubborn and takes a while to get off. Thanks! Yes, my anubias has a lot of algae on it, but not black beard. Thanks guys
  22. What is this algae? It’s really thick and stays together when I brush it off….. thoughts? Is there such thing as purple algae? There is like 6 different kinds of algae in my tank so I don’t even know at this point 😅
