  1. I've been very happy with the etsy one (by GalaxyGlowStudio). I'm using it on a Penguin Biowheel. I hated this. If the power goes out, it dumps all the water immediately. Then it doesn't self prime and that thing will run dry all day if you're at work or something. I returned it within a week of having it.
  2. Wooooowwww how lovely he is! 😍 @Rita I found this: Source: adelphi.edu It's neat how you hung the coconut.
  3. You can hold it in the tank with the aquascaping tongs. It dissolves quickly.
  4. Ludwigia did poorly in the 29g but in the 10g it has grown so much that the top is now continuing to grow along the surface of the water. I figured out the key factor was the distance from the light. The 29g was too deep, and the plant wanted higher light.
  5. I bet they want to prompt your reorder. Same thing how the fish food package says feed 4 times per day. Or the filter instructions change filter cartridges every X weeks or every month. Etc. Revenue.
  6. Maybe daphnia could help here? @Odd Duck mentioned that it helps when bettas get bloated. Daphnia is a food that helps fish pass parasites and/or clear digestive blockages. Due to its husks/shells. But if using a parasite med instead then I would not feed.
  7. Poor @Mahi27 has multi-tank columnaris. I believe they are on the right track though w/ treatment & recovery.
  8. Sometimes my 2 are very, uh..... "energetic" and then the male falls asleep on the back of the female and she's travelling the whole tank all day w/ him. Romeo & Ingot.
  9. Someone laid a clutch on my lid for the first time yesterday. They usually go behind the HOB waterfall and they lay them there, thinking I won't know. But I do a sweep under all the rims with my hand every other day. One day though I'm sure I will have surprise baby snails crawling around in there just because of all these covert operations going on. Also I think the moms are having social hour while laying eggs because I will do a sweep one day and then the next sweep I will find 2 clutches, side by side, behind the waterfall.
  10. What if they are both viable? Then you'll have 1,000,000 snails. 🙃
  11. You guys like HOBs with the pumps in the tank. Have you guys seen the marina ones? I'm not up on filter models or whatnot so this could be old news. https://www.amazon.com/Marina-A285-S10-Power-Filter/dp/B0032G8TPW/ref=asc_df_B0032G8TPW/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=167154348866&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=16088399162912950656&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9011791&hvtargid=pla-310095067110&psc=1 Not sure what the flow pattern is like on these. Looks like it may go alongside the cartridges and then take a left. Odd? It's almost like we need a diagram with little arrows and stuff. 😉
  12. From what I've read about columnaris, it exists in every tank, whether there are symptoms or not. It comes down to the immune systems of the fish. I move fish w/ visible symptoms out to quarantine. I've never had other tankmates affected after I moved them out. I'm dealing w/ columnaris a second time though, but it is in a newly purchased fish.
  13. They do need to eat calcium though as part of their diet. Nom nom nom Shell development Woodstock is moving in with Snoopy today. The 10g bioload is a bit heavy, as you may have noticed from the photos I’m having a hard time keeping that sand looking nice. And with shrimplets on the way, I may not want to vac as much. Woodstock will be joining York (mom), C3PO (sibling) and the magenta and nerite crew. 1 hour drip. Probably overkill, but I have the time so why not? Plus I did awaken him, so let’s go ahead and ease him into his day.
  14. While I was at work, Geppetto made his bubble nest bigger. I had some browning of the crinum and realized I should have kept the bulb above the substrate (fixed).
  15. I got some ad in my mailbox yesterday from Northern Tool & Equipment - it was advertising a shelf that holds 8,000 pounds. Whoa!
