TheSwissAquarist
@GoofyGarra you did have a point with the entire color changing with age stuff. It seems that zebra danios first develop their iridescence before they get their gold colors underneath. I’ve reset the spawning tank by draining it completely and letting it sit for a day to kill off anything that may get at the eggs. There’s some peat in the mini HOB to condition the water. Which species should I try? Glowlight or Black phantom tetras??? Fish enjoying the Halloween pumpkin 🎃

TheSwissAquarist
There was some kind of tetra unfriendly bubbly mess on the surface this morning. I’m thinking that it came from the new filter ? Looks like I gotta drain the tank and start again. 😑 Edited October 30, 2023 by TheSwissAquarist

The glacier I occasionally ski on nearby got a much-needed foot and a half last night. Three days of snow must suck. No free RO water!

TheSwissAquarist
Haven’t been in love with the desk shrimp tank lately. The shrimp have really good colors (natural sunlight?), but….yeah it doesn’t float my boat so it’s becoming my Daphnia culture.
TheSwissAquarist
I added a trio of Glowlights to the spawning tank last night, which had been left in the dark for about a week to kill off any parasites. After checking this morning I almost lost heart after not seeing a thing, before spotting this along the seal at the back (sorry for picture quality!) 🎉
TheSwissAquarist
Better pic of the eggs. I’ve put some into a breeder box and kept some in the original tank. Divide & conquer!
TheSwissAquarist
Picture taken with my phone on full zoom and through a magnifying glass: There’s also ca. 30 in the spawning tank. I’m starting to get a bit nervous about these guys. Hopefully they’ll take sera micron 🤞.
TheSwissAquarist
Fresh Cory eggs in a tote I set up during the week end. I didn’t think much of it at the time… tho the ~50 eggs are a bonus!

Leaving them in a small tote for a couple of days at room temp (21 ish Celsius) as a pair they usually spawn pretty quickly. The tricks getting the eggs out fast enough. TheSwissAquarist
3 day old tetra fry seem to be doing ok (they don’t do much!). Zebra danio fry have just celebrated their 6 week birthday. Somehow they look more like black neons than anything else. 😅
