eatyourpeas
This is what I think happened: I came in just as Ursula had grabbed the crab. Started to record the swallowing process (took almost 30 minutes!) and at the end, she spat him back out! That is when I realized he was still perched on the filter, quietly doing some geriatric looking calisthenics. He had molted! So, somehow Ursula caught the molt thinking "dinner", but the joke was on her! This picture shows the spit-back, and her pouty mouth showing disappointment. The video is very long, so I will upload it sometime later tonight once I have sped it up.

ChemBob
This is such a fascinating tank! I love the different critters you have and how much they differ from the standard freshwater and tropical saltwater tanks.

eatyourpeas
Acrobat crab is still perched on the filter, so maybe his shell is not quite hard yet. At feeding this morning, I discovered a second krill, and was really fascinated by the largest sculpin changing colors as he moved around the hardscape. His tail is a beautiful red now. Couldn't take a picture because I fed Reef Snow and it makes the water cloudy. 😞

eatyourpeas
The Acrobat finally came down this morning (or last night) and went to visit Ursula first thing. Ahhh, love! I managed a picture as a scale reference of the before and after molting. He is huge!

eatyourpeas
This tank is never, ever boring! Someone has been busy, or was busy before coming to the tank. Still reading about Kelp crab eggs and such, but I found this little one this morning: Hiding under a shell beneath the red algae:
eatyourpeas
Anemones got fed this morning. Happy critters! Sculpins are growing beautifully! And then, this! I am still trying to figure out what he is! I was guessing Pandalus danae but the rostrum is a bit short and the eyes look different. Perhaps Mesocrangon munitella? I only noticed him because he moved and one of the krill was saying hello over and over. 2

They definitely get a bit close sometimes... 🤓 Edited August 20, 2021 by eatyourpeas
