  1. You can get odd random deaths days or weeks apart with parasitic infection sometimes with no symptoms it might be worthwhile doing odd Ducks treatment protocol for parasitic infections
  2. Lower level of salt 1 table spoon for 5 gallons is safe for most plants have used that level in my tank with water spite water lettuce anubias crinum vall with out any issues you could add a lower level of salt 1 table spoon for 10 gallons that won't harm your plants
  3. L260 is a hypancistrus species they require a more protein rich diet can you take I picture of your other pleco if we can identify the species it will help work out an appropriate diet
  4. What I would do is check your water parameters ammonia nitrite nitrate pH KH GH temperature just in case something off it Could have injured itself getting into a small space because it's a long the spine could also be a bacterial component what I would do is get holed of kanaplex or maracyn2 which every one is more readily available and do a course then give an update
  5. I would add an extra air stone during treatment and add a small amount of aquarium salt table spoon for 5 gallons that will aid Gill function and add essential electrolytes After 7 days of doxcycline give us an update if your still having issues with this tank
  6. I can recommend this book lots of stunning pictures of fish from Cameroon ATS aquashop does some really good books on South America catfish there bringing out new books on snake heads bristlenose catfish soon
  7. Most pathogens and parasites can't survive for longer than 30 days with a hostout I would quarantine the snail for at least a month before putting it in with other fish
  8. Some antibiotic aren't effective in food such as kanaplex active ingredient is kanamycin sulfate as it's poorly absorbed by the gut so very little of the medication makes it into the blood stream. maracyn2 active ingredient minocycline and metroplex active ingredient metronidazole are adsorbed by the gut so are very effective in food if your using API fin and body cure active ingredient is doxcycline i would treatment for a minimum of 7 days feeding a small amount twice a day i would test your KH and GH just case something off as to low KH and GH can cause a lot of health issues in Guppies
  9. If there's no ammonia with the Redding to the body possible bacterial infection. I would have expected that to have killed your fish in shorter space of time. 4-8 weeks is long time for a bacterial infection to take to kill your fish. possible parasitic infection causing tissue damage that has caused the Redding to the body it's all speculation at this point.
  10. What your describing could be bacterial in nature what I would do is keep the salt at the level it's at and do a course of API fin and body cure active ingredient is doxcycline will treat hemorrhagic septicemia what are your water parameters in the main tank ammonia nitrite nitrate pH KH GH temperature just in case something off
  11. Ick X isn't effective at treating the problems your fish has with it's eye what I would do is follow up with second course of maracyn and add a low dose of aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 10 gallons that won't harm your shrimp or snails @schmofam
  12. Could be an abscess that's reputed I would keep treating with maracyn and salt give an update after you have finished the first course of maracyn
  13. Redding on the body can be caused by a bacterial infections or ammonia burn fish can die weeks after being exposed to high levels of ammonia is it possible you had a spike of ammonia with the second fish and missed it
  14. Yes I would treat main tank and the quarantine tank as the fish in quarantine tank have has come from the main tank
  15. From what I have read there's a fine line between a safe dose of fenbendazole and a toxic dose that will kill shrimp so I would always air on the side of caution when using any medication with shrimp in the tank
  16. What I would suggest is doing odd ducks treatment protocol for parasitic infections the combination of praziquantel and levamisole will treat a wide range of parasites
  17. What symptoms were you seeing in your Bettas from the onset of symptoms to the time they died how did it take for them to die any Reddening of the Gill's or body rapid breathing what were your water parameters at the time if you can remember
  18. When you get odd random over a period of time I would be concerned about a parasitic infection any rapid breathing hanging out near the surface lethargy flashing spitting food out sunken belly erratic swimming patterns @flyingcow
  19. Sorry for your loss I would keep a very close eye on your remaining Cory's for any similar symptoms @ShineOn75
  20. Colu

    Tumor ?

Salt at that level is fine for goldfish if you have more sensitive fish like catfish or loach I would use a lower amount of salt
  21. Colu

    Tumor ?

What I would suggest is getting some tests strips like the co-op test strips that test for chlorine KH GH pH Nitrate nitire and separate ammonia test strips you want no ammonia or nitrite and low nitrate goldfish do best with a pH of 6.5-7.5 what I would do in the meantime is treat with aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 2 gallons as the lump looks like it could be fluid filled and the salt will help reduce fluid buildup and aid Gill function and add essential electrolytes salt is only removed though water changes if you do a 2 gallon water change add 1 table spoon of salt back in to keep the salt at the required level for a week add an extra air stone during treatment as salt changes the viscosity of the water lowering the levels of desloved oxygen then give an update in 7days without out knowing your water parameters its difficult to no what the cause is
  22. Added directly to the tank I usually dissolve it in a small amount of warm water then add it to the tank
  23. As your in Canada none of the medication I recommended are available Melafix and aquarium salt 1 table spoon for 3 gallons is what I would treat with for one week if he gets worse I would up the level of aquarium salt to 1 table spoon for 2 gallons
  24. His tail look pretty shredded and bit of hemorrhaging to the tail fin what I would do is a course of kanaplex or maracyn2 which ever one is more readily available to prevent any secondary bacterial infections @Carley
