    I can't say how many times I have done that with my sponge filter, all my fish survived and my cory's go crazy(in a "happy" way)

    welcome to the forum. I don't have any saltwater fish yet but I think a 50 gallon could have a pair of clownfish, and I haven't researched anemone's all I know is some move liveaquaria says 20 minimum here is a nano-reef thread about clownfish tank size: https://www.nano-reef.com/forums/topic/304349-clownfish-min-tank-size-10-20-30/

    is there an aquarium club near you? maybe one of the members could hold them for you 🤔 or you could buy/borrow some filter media from a aquarium club member

    do you have any goof fish store local to you? I would ask about them holding your fish until the tank is cycled(can process ammonia and nitrite quickly it helps to add plants, and filter media from an old heathy aquarium)
