I really should QT fish and treat for that kind of thing, but my wife likes to see them in the tank straight away.

Yeah, it's hard to resist that urge to enjoy them right away. I'm thinking I want to pull my Dwarf Rainbows out of QT early and I have to fight myself to wait.

Wow, the colors on these are crazy. Wife brought them home,  they're labeled as "laser beam guppies" which I cant find anything on the internet about and we have 3 of them. I hope this isn't some sort of glofish thing.

Edit: further research is turning them up as "Laser ray" so just a slightly different name.

Indeed! Is this a pic with just top lighting? They look spectacular. I have a soft spot for pastel colored Guppies. I like the saturated ones too, but these are beautiful.

Too bad these two in the photo died!

This tank has some of those submersible under trim lights, so they do get some side lighting. Those lights do help make the fish pop.

I did do the return and got two live ones yesterday, but they are not as pretty, sadly. They are younger, so they may not have colored up as much yet, time will tell --- if they live!

@Vanishnow anytime I see the babies from the spawns I am just amazed and feel awesome that I made their parents happy enough to produce these little plecos. It will be really interesting when I hopefully get into @Guppysnailterritory and have tanks of them. I may come to regret this but until then I will continue to pursue breeding them.

Holy cow. I was just hanging out with the racks, checking for fry possibly in with the Madagascars 20L, and spotted this guy in the sunset dwarf tank.

I just did a water change earlier today, hope I didnt suck others out!

I moved him into the fry tray with the madagascar's of the same size. They are easy to tell apart. He is the dark one.

I had planned to breed these next, super cool if I can get fry in this tank!

Been a wild 48 hours.

Monday, I water changed all the tanks in the house.

Tuesday morning, my wife went into labor and we had our baby girl last night. YAY!

Wednesday after breakfast, I got everyone asleep and went home to feed the fish ( mostly the rainbow fry ). All fish were doing great. I went to feed the last tank, my 150g in my office and the water was not at the overflow. Uh oh. I had just refilled the sump on Monday and had gone past my "dont fill past here line" because hey, there are never any problems and I'd be too busy to water top off for the next month.

Luckily, nothing had overflowed below, but the Laguna pump finally died after 8 years. Not exactly what I wanted to deal with on my first day with a newborn baby.

First, I moved most of the rainbows into the 90g to reduce bioload. The catfish and evaders will have to handle themselves. I closed off the plumbing to the sump, pulled out the heaters and threw them into the tank and added a powerhead with venturi line. This should be good enough to hold them over for a few days until the new pump arrives.

Congratulations on your new little girl!!!

I hope birth was easy for your wife, and the offer still stands if y'all need any information or support. Congratulations to both of you on being birthed into parenthood. I can promise you, it's the first best thing in the world, until you become a grandparent. 💜

We are home now, thank goodness. Being in the hospital felt like every time the baby would fall asleep someone would come in and wake her up!

The fry are all still alive, and looks like there are 8 madagascars now. I also found another dwarf sunset, up to 3 there. They got sponge filter drippings and vinegar eels.

The 150g fish are all doing fine. The rainbows look good combined. It wasnt my plan to have them separated but they need to grow bigger before they could handle the 150, and then I just liked them in the 90. I'd prefer the Angel's in the 150 but I've had trouble with them surviving in there for some reason. Maybe too much flow?

The crypt pontederfolia is angry and melting fast. I'm guessing because of the temperature swing but not sure. I'll have to remove a bunch of dying leaves when i get a moment off daddy duty.

**started this last night and then didn't have time to finish**

Got momma and baby asleep; that meant I had a little time to install the new pump and hang out with the fish.

I'm going to be @Guppysnailhere soon with these srbn plecos.

Will have to separate the Male after hes finished here.

Might move the endlerish to their own grow out tank as there has to be over 100 srbnp in there now.

I pulled all the media out and drained the sump when installing the new pump in the 150g. Probably overdue for that 😄

I found a spare heater and thus started another one of the 10g on the top rack. These tanks are currently only _bottom_ lit by reflection, so I'm not sure how well the plants will grow.

I moved the neat root wood out of the pleco tank before they ate it any further and moved a different piece of wood in. It didn't take them long to find it.

A lot of musical tanks yesterday.

1.) Moved all 4 turquoise rainbows and the 2 australian ( joining 4 others ) from the 90g to the 150g.

2.) Moved 4 of the young angelfish of my wife's selection from the rack to the 90g.

3.) Moved the last Laser Ray Guppy ( sigh, and the least pretty one ) into a 10g on the rack with 2 of my best hopefully virgin females to intentionally breed for BAP.

4.) Moved two Bolivian rams to the neighboring 20H on the rack to reduce aggression while I am growing them out. If neither side eventually pairs off, I will switch one from each tank. I'm also treating one of the rams as I am concerned it has internal parasites. Much less movement from it, and its belly looks sunken compared to the others.

All four Angels are spectacular. I’m normally a fan of the wild coloration but that black one with the red head is stunning!

Heh, well, he is one of the 3 adults we have in the tank. His name is Picasso,  one of the few fish weve named.

We lost our oldest, the father of the current generation, right after this last spawn. Immediately afterwards,  Picasso paired off and started spawning with the other female. We may raise his babies one day when I have space again.
