Seems like there is a rash of fish loss around the forum this week. I appear to be no exception as I came home from the doctor to find my L270 (maybe?) Pleco seemingly randomly dead 😢 We had just been watching him last night so I have no idea what happened. Tank params are fine. All I can guess is maybe not enough food, as I havent traditionally heavily intentionally fed him.

@Vanish - just breezed thru your thread - will go back  and spend more time.  Thanks for documenting your condition 🙂

So much nice work to look at and ideas and knowledge to gather.   And here I thought I was getting silly with a 40B, 20H, 20L and a 10...

Thanks for sharing,

George

BAP submission #2 is ready to send as I have passed the 30 day raising period! Approximately 116 of the larger SRBNP and uncountable numbers of the latest spawn. I couldn't even catch all the little ones. There were many more in the tank yet. I moved all the endlers to a different holding tank as there were 54 of them. There was over 250 fish in this 20H!

Also, this was exhausting and took me around 90 minutes. 😄

Some photos from the shrimp paludarium. I cant tell the numbers of shrimp since the back area is so dark, but it looks to be down since I've not been able to count more than 3. I'm not sure there were any females in the shrimp I put in. Debating whether to add more from the other shrimp tank. I'd really like to separate the endlers in the shrimp 10g as I have seen the attack the shrimp, but I dont have anywhere else to put them.

Google a users manual🧐

I can honestly say that I have never seen a filter like that, if the filter is in the bucket🤔

That worked! Its a Fluval Chi. I'm not sure I'm into it and might DIY something, but I'll give it a try first.

Sadly, this little Bolivian Ram did not make it. I treated for a week with no improvement. Seemed like it had gill flukes, as when I introduced to a heavily salted tank, little white "trees" came out of the gill area. You can kinda see one above and behind the eye. The fish never would get in a position to take a good photo.

The other three rams are doing well and I am considering moving them into the 90g to see if they'll pair off there. The 20s seem too small to distribute aggression.

I added the 3 bolivian rams to the 90g yesterday. Also. removed some lava rock and added a few river rocks to see if I can trigger them to show spawning behavior at some point. I think they are too young still, but maybe I can start to see pairing. Also, wanted an excuse to add some rive rocks. 😄 I like the contrast they are adding and might add some more.

Been busy with the babe, but I stole a few minutes to start insulating the rack. It is just press fit if I even need to deconstruct.

Not sure what my plan is for the top level yet, if any.

I like the rack!  Really nice wood look there.  I have a dumpy garage rack so yours is aspirational!

On my rack, I have a bunch of 20H's.  I'll say that the bottom dwellers are kind of nice there, because I get to be eye-to-eye with them.  But overall, I'm glad my longer term plans are to have them be for fry tanks.  Other than the bottom dwellers when I am on the step stool, I can't really enjoy the fish there in the same way.  Fry tanks are practical, but rarely really enjoyable to watch.  Anyhow, that's why I'm planning on going that route.

Yeah, that's exactly what my top level 10s are going to be. Really, only the middle row is any good for actually looking at fish. Luckily this whole rack is really for breeding / fry / growout as I have display tanks in other parts of the house.

Hah, thanks. The wood and black look just kind of came together on accident, having extra black materials hanging around. I do like having it look halfway decent, though. That pink insulation look isn't going to stay! Not sure if I will paint it, or cover it in coroplast on the exterior. Coroplast wouldn't be the cheapest, but I already have some, it would give me a better hand hold on it, do great around water and match the light shields.

I had moved one 1m/3f Bosemani rainbowfish down to the breeding tank a couple days ago. We then made the decision to travel in a few weeks, so I decided to bring them back up to reduce the number of things for my caretaker to have to worry about. Already found 92 eggs in the mop 😄

Well, that was a much bigger project than I imagined! I mounted the main rack power strip to the wall. This meant unplugging and detangling all the heater cables. I then labeled each one as well as mounted their adjusters with sticky back velcro. Its all much better now. Guess I should have taken a bigger frame photo. Both sides are now insulated, too. Next up figuring out insulating the back!

I havent started a dedicated breeding thread, so I'll record here that I hatched 18 Boesemani rainbows today, with many more close.

Edit: 4 more at days end

Not sure what happened, but I lost all the Boesemani fry. 😞 Having a die off across my whole fry system. Not sure if it was the golden pearls or something I did during the water change.
