  1. I guess it will officially be considered a fishroom after this is installed. I can't add anymore tanks until I upgraded to a central air system. This should do nicely for a while.
  2. I’ve got two Threadfin Acaras (Geophagus heckelii) that were amazing g buddies… until they weren’t. Basically, when they grow old enough to spawn, they go into high gear every once in awhile and start digging a hole to China through the substrate. Plants come up… everything gets shoveled around. One began abusing the other, so I separated them. I’ve got in mind selling them both. But I’d like to learn more. Anyone have experience breeding these? Raising them? Heres a video where I ask some questions and show what’s going on more…
  3. Hi everyone I have been trying to identify what is wrong with my big male red head geophagus. Noticed it developed a couple what looked sores with white inside of them. Removed him from tank and places him in hospital tank for about 2 weeks now. The tank currently has one tbsp of salt per gallon and I Have done one full treatment of para cleanse but did not solve problem. Currently the tank has the following water parameters. nitrite 0 nitrate 10 hardness close to 300 buffer is between 40 and 80 ph 7.4 chlorine 0 If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.
  4. I bought the geophagus a few days ago and i noticed one of its eyes is messed up. The eye is sunken and cloudy, it almost looks diflated. It is swims around but tends to hang around in one area. It is eating but its seems more aggressive to the other fish in the tank. it may be a little more sluggish then the other fish but not by much. Its either a disease or a wound from when it was in the tank st the store, anyone know what it is?

    Zit ?

My Geopagus has been getting for lack of a better word "Zits". it's not ich, there's always just one. I dont see any lesions and these come and go away. hole in the head ? when these zits go away they barely leave mark. it's an established tank, no bullying, no recent fish addition, in the past all fish were dewormed, I run plenty of filteration+ purigen. Any ideas on what these are and how to help these go away?
  6. I am changing my mind. I was thinking about doing a 90 gallon angelfish tank, but I recently have fallen in love with geophagus red heads. I have 2 large amazon swords and I want to add them in the tank. I was wondering if the geophagus would just rip up the plants.
  7. Hi Fellow members , I'm currently working on setting up a new tank. Could anyone help me with some general advice on keeping Redhead geophagus.
