  1. I think they are the same as my red sailfins. Corydoras venezuelanus pictured here with panda corys. Congratulations, I’ve never had luck pulling the eggs. The are prolific breeders though, so I get to sell 10 - 20 @ ye old lfs.
  2. I’m with @Brandon p here. I have a fair amount or crushed coral under a gravel cap, and about a pound in my canister. The increase in gh is relatively small, and the is raised a couple points. I decided to use crushed coral b/c the tank is for discus. I figured the increased hardness was better than ph swings.
  3. Glad to have you on the forum. Fun Fact: there is no known cure for Multiple Tank Syndrome (MTS) [and who would want one] short of total burnout. To manage symptoms, design your new aquarium 3+ the number of aquariums you have before putting it together. Unfortunately, I have yet to pull it off…..
  4. @CKetchum cattle dogs are the best!
  5. I’ve never kept leaped frog plecos (L134), but according to planet catfish: “Although very variable in terms of patterning, this beautiful species is quite easy to identify. Younger fish have more background yellow colour and older fish are darker with more stripes.” https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=213 Looking at images in my google search support variability in their patterning as well. your fish are good looking, so I’m hoping you can get the colony to breed…..
  6. Welcome to the forum. You’ll fit fit right in…..
  7. Baking soda is a non-starter for me. It’s too harsh, and I’m not sure it can hold my ph up long term. tweaking your chemistry is really tricky, and it’s easy set up for wild swings. So best practice (IMO) is work with what you have, so leave things as they are unless your fish or plants are struggling. If you decide to tweak things, going slow is advised. Once you put crushed coral in, you can’t easily take it out. One other thing, if you add crushed coral, you may need to adjust the amount of equalibrium you add. I’ve not used that product, so that’s pure speculation on my part.
  8. I managed to get a better picture today. I few of the larger ones are starting to get their angel dorsal fins. But I couldn’t get a good shot of them.
  9. That’s a really heathy way to look at it! Agreed! I also like giving friends fish for their tanks.
  10. You are describing my water. I’m using crushed coral in the canister filter for my 75, but the other three tanks are just conditioned tap water. The crushed coral does raise my ph and kh just a little, bur I’m not sure it makes that much difference fore me. My corys breed regularly, I have trouble keeping the shrimp population in check. About the only thing I see that is boing better is the snails. And not that much better at that. if you are worried, a pound or two of crushed coral won’t hurt. (I have about 10 lbs in the substrate, and another pound in the filter). But if you fish are doing well, I would leave things as they are.
  11. Here is a little background. what region do you live in? Any where close to Shreveport? I can hook up up with a few https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=716
  12. I thinking, as amazing as those tanks are, they are only set up for a weekend. To maintain them looking like that would take a significant time commitment. And let’s face it, wouldn’t you rather just have another tank.
  13. I know, right? @Fish Folk is one of the most knowledgeable people on the forum, and breeds some amazing fish.
  14. Welcome! Your tanks look gr-eaaat! Any idea what you want to keep in your native tanks? There a quite a few native keepers on the forum. I can’t wait to see your 210 stocked up!
  15. @Guppysnail Look, more baby plecos! I love the Cory playing babysitter @Robert Keeney are those albino or blue eyed plecos? If you have another tank, you can always pull the male every so often. That would help meter the number of baby’s. A 29 gal would help as well
  16. If you can get them to spawn in the mops, pulling the eggs would be a breeze!
  17. Busy day, 50% WC for 4 tanks, did some pruning of my Java fern, topped off the summer tub, took my dog swimming, and made a batch of Repashy. ( 25 soilent green, .25 ipago, and 50% bottom scratcher. )
  18. Right at 2 week of free swimming and they have graduated to cyclops and daphnia. I’ve lost several, but 1 or 2 dozen. They have more than doubled in size, and are much stronger swimmers. Sorry for the blurry pictures, I just can’t get the camera to focus on the right thing….
  19. True. But that eliminates the sneaker tank….
  20. That’s A Look! @lefty o, your scaring me
