  1. made a couple tweaked a couple things. Can’t have a pond without a gater and a pelican. Hope to finish the bricks at the front. Can’t wait to add the goldfish at the end of month.
  2. Picture would help, but sounds like a variant of algae. Here are a couple pictures from my tanks the first one is a sword plant with some black beard algae (BBA) and some java fern that had recently been treated with reverse respiration. Basically submerging the plant in carbonated water, and leaving in the them in a dark room overnight. Look here for more information on how to do it: Or ask @Guppysnail she’s an expert.
  3. For me? Yeah it’s that time of year again! but this year I’m going bigger - 300g. Adding a fountain and a cute chubby gater ‘cause, Louisiana! Moving fancy goldfish in at the end of month.
  4. I love this fern. It’s very hardy, and it looks like yours is reproducing. Windeluv typically doesn’t like having its rhizome buried in the substrate, so it could have some rot. These plants frequently threw off baby plants if they are challenged like that. A broken leaf can reproduce. if you remove the tip of one of the leaves with roots, you can super glue it to a rock. Next thing you know, new plant for your tank.
  5. I’m not familiar with quarantining with salt and methylene blue, so not much help there. My angels move tanks pretty well, so I’m not sure that is your problem. What are your water perimeters? How are the rummies doing? What size are your angels?
  6. I think it was @Guppysnail that used to dip sticks into Repashy, then serve them like a giant lollipop
  7. I use silicone candy molds and mini ice cube trays. Here’s a pic of my Repashy worms
  8. So one of my swords put out stalks, runners, something. One looks like it will flower , the other has developed roots and a couple leaves at a couple nodes toward the end. I’m thinking cut the nodes with roots and plant them. Anyone have experience doing that?
  9. Well look at this - I have a pair of discus spawning (forgive the untidy tank. I need to teach ‘em to dust and vacuum) they have many tank mates, so not much hope for fry…
  10. I found that you can take advantage of their love for dark caves to my advantage. Just start trying to net them (to make them run to cover), then cover the cave entrance with your hand and remove the cave. It’s not as efficient as @Guppysnail’s method, but you can catch adults. Of course you can also check you HOB filter. Filter babies are the best.
  11. “if they're really _only_ in that pond” That was something I was curious about. I would love a conservation group verify, and rebuild the population. Good on the kid to figure it out!
  12. Immediately thought of u. @Fish Folk
  13. @Fish Folkhave you seen this?
  14. Thornton?! I love Thornton. (Well anywhere around Denver). your tanks look awesome. Welcome to the Nerms
  15. Cant go wrong listening to Odd Duck, but @modified lung, @Biotope Biologist, is this something your expertise can help? @BeeD’s question is really insightful. If they are acting normal and changes are slow you have more time.
  16. Crushed coral. Definitely crushed coral. it is gentle, and won’t let the hardness get away from you. Adding some sea shells also works. Just make sure they are clean.
  17. Playing on @TheSwissAquarist idea regarding how long in the hobby, the one point for length of your largest fish in inches multiplied by its age. I.e. Hank is 5 inches long and 5 years old, 25
  18. My corys luv tetra shrimp wafers, Repashy and extreme nano. Try feeding just after lights out.
  19. Got to rub elbows with all the famous folk huh? With that was an option for me…..
  20. 1 point for each aquarium you currently have running. 4 1/2 point for each aquarium that you have empty "just in case". 0 1 point for every 40 gallons of water currently in your tanks. 3 (142g) 1 point for each variety of prepared food you regularly feed. 6 2 points for each variety of frozen food your regularly feed. 10 (when I’m raising fry) 3 points for each variety of live food you regularly feed. 0 2 points for each variety of water you regularly use in your aquariums/fish room that require some kind of preparation other than dechlorination (e.g., RODI, brackish, salt, hard water for African cichlids) 0 1 point for each tank with CO2 0 1 additional point for each tank where CO2 is regulated (i.e., not yeast-based or chemical generator) 0 1 point for each species of fish you have raised to maturity. 6? 1 point for each "grow out tank" you keep 0 1 point for each species-only tank you keep. 0 1 point for each 100 comments posted on this Aquarium Coop Forum. 13 1 point for each cycled filter you have on hand, just in case. 2 1 point for each aquarium you have built yourself. 0 (but I really want to) 1 point for each aquarium stand you have built. 1 5 points if you have a multi-tank auto-water change system. 0 5 points if you have a air supply "loop" for many tanks. 0 10 points if you have structurally modified your home to accommodate your fish tanks. 0 10 points if you been collecting in the wild. 0 1 point for each city you've been to and visited the LFS as a tourist activity. 3 1 point for each $100 you've sold of fish in the last year. (U would ask me that) 6 2 points if you regularly attend a fish club auction. 0 (no club in my area 😭) Award yourself one point for taking this quiz. 1 i don’t do public math. But mid 40s? I didn’t really count this ‘cause it’s mostly leftovers Does the summer tub count as a tank? U mean I’ve been around the forum longer than u? Sheesh
  21. They also like to hide them under plant leaves. I don’t think I’ve ever seen panda eggs on the glass, but babies appear like magic.
  22. I found Easy Fry Food by ACO worked well. I’ve only managed to raise two clutches, once by pulling eggs, once with parents. Both times there was a fair buildup of gunk on the bottom of their tank. Bare bottom may help with that, but be extra careful of the fry when cleaning. The fry may hide in the fluffy stuff at the bottom….
  23. No real experience with this kinda thing, but never a good time to panic. Is he alone in the tank, or at least big enough the others won’t pick on him? Moving him to a hospital tank a touch of salt my help the recuperation process if he shares the tank.
