  1. At time I would place the pvc spawning tube inside my egg tumbles I used for my African cichlids. Same principle I guess….
  2. Age is important. I would say with once sexually mature and the correct conditions 3-5 weeks if all goes well.
  3. Maybe. Anything is possible. Is it possible for you to remove them? Place in a small breeder box? Maybe floating in the tank? I have even used a small plastic cup with a air stone, just make sure to change water often. I once even put them in an empty box filter with a airline with a little current. Just put some gravel on the bottom so it sinks. Good Luck
  4. I guess anything is possible. I had two females that would both lay eggs and guard them until they would fungus up. Good Luck
  5. Not a problem. I love it when it works out like that.
  6. I just spoke with my buddy. He really didn’t want me giving out his number but he did tell me they allow people to come to a meeting and get/gather information before becoming a member. Have fun and best of luck
  7. Goldfish are not usually aggressive. Could it be spawning activity? Could you add another goldfish to the tank? Maybe add something to break line of sight? Good Luck
  8. If my tank I’m working on is well established I don’t add a beneficial bacteria. But I also treat for the amount of water I am replacing. If just topping off a tank because of evaporation I don’t usually add chemicals.
  9. I see a guy that is a member from time to time at different auctions. I will try to find his contact info. I also do not use social media. Lol.
  10. I have never been, sorry. Pretty sure they have a website and you might be able to find some answers there. Or at the very least a contact person. I am a member to three clubs and they allow people to attend a meeting or two before joining. Good Luck https://www.aclcpa.org/ I think that is the link
  11. I tend to over build. I have a surge protector in my electrical panel for my entire home and for the breakers for my aquariums I have GFCI breakers as well as the power strips with built in protection. Just FYI, the breakers will sometimes trip before power strip. I’m lucky that’s it’s only a 20 foot walk to reset.
  12. Thank you. I only use sponge filters in non display tanks. (Breeding- grow out and qt). Thanks
  13. Does it count if the mom and pop store is a chain pet store? Locally owned and the husband and wife are in the store just about every day. The last thing I purchased was 12 clown loaches at $8.79 each. They ordered them in for me (as they often will) and then they give me the option they will call and let me pick up in original bag shipped in or they will place in the back room and hold until I get there. Either way I get a no questions asked 14 day warranty.
  14. Why not under gravel. The forgotten filtration. I still use them a lot. I actually have a canister filter’s intake tube attached to the filter plate. I also use power heads with them and some just with air. Do what you like…. Good Luck
  15. Way to many unknowns. tanks age, tank mates, other foods? a small tank that isn’t seasoned can go bad rather fast. Maybe one or two near front so you can watch. Make sure they are eating. Maybe add some cucumber. Wafers can and will dissolve over time. Cucumber- squash- zucchini you will be able to tell if the fish are eating. Good Luck
  16. How big/small is the tank? I think we put some small amounts of contaminates in our tanks from time to time and never realize it. Maybe keep some active Carbon on hand just in case. But I’m pretty sure you will be fine. Good Luck
  17. I try not to go cheap here. At one time sure whatever… What could go wrong? I buy just about any power strip as long it is GFCI and UL listed. And I also mount under stand off the floor with the drip loop.
  18. For some reason it would not let me select other and explain. My other: would be something along the lines of a detailed spawning report. For those of us that have completed them you know what I’m talking about. The video would be a very detailed description step by step. Could be fish, plant invertebrates…. I also think this would free up Cory. Could use Dean, Or other employees. Thanks
  19. @Zenzo I have a couple follow up questions. 01. Does the distance from the surface to the top of the lift tube have any impact on how much oxygen is absorbed into the water? Longer bubbles are in water column equals more oxygen? 02. Does a longer lift tube create more pressure? Making sponge filter even more efficient? Thanks
  20. I think everyone and everything looks healthy and great. I think it’s up to you. BTW I know how you are feeling. I have a tank I feel the same way.
  21. I was wondering the same thing. Can you give us some details!
  22. Sounds like you answered your own question. And you want Otos. Make sure they are eating well and ask the store to feed them. Ask what they are feeding. Ask how long they have had them. Ask when the store gets their fish in, go the day before so you know the fish have been there at least a week. Don’t be afraid to observe them in the store. BTW you can/should do this with all fish. Most stores do not quarantine and or medicate new fish. Good Luck
  23. Slow down, unless things are dire. Are you sure the test kit is good. Also are you using a liquid test kit? Was the bottle of Stability new? I think they put a date on the bottle. When you change water you do leave the filter alone, correct?
  24. I was wondering, would you/could you patent something like this? Or would the risk-cost outweigh the rewards-profit?
