  1. I have never had that happen to me. But, if you think it is the glue try using fishing line or rubber bands to hold it on the decoration. Also are you trying this with a new plant? If you just purchased the plant maybe just leave it in your tank for a week or two.
  2. Yes, I forget all the details now I will look them up. I think I purchased enough to mix in a gallon of RO/DI and it treated some crazy amount. And all that for like 6 or 7 dollars. One gallon can treat 37,850 gallons. The cost is under $4.00
  3. When I was keeping and maintaining 40ish aquariums and a couple of them where discus I was using it. It was ridiculously cheap.
  4. Well, on fish that are semi-transparent you can kinda see the eyes developing of the fry, so some say. I always look for when her belly kinda squares off. Bottom of belly will appear more a straight line and bulge will extend up to just under her gills.
  5. No. They aren’t that bad…. Bloodworms that is…. Check on aquabid. Look under Medications. MVP is the seller. A lot cheaper
  6. Nope… she should be eating. Have you tried any live foods? Live black worms? Frozen blood worms or frozen brine shrimp.
  7. That’s a hard/touchy question. Attitude and aggression. Size and bio load. Future spawns. I mean with proper maintenance this could work with the proper tank mates - unti it doesn’t…… I’m not sure if I would add any, at least not without a backup plan in case it goes bad. Good Luck
  8. Weird. Is the pet shop having any problems with their fish? Does this pet shop have the same water supply company as you? Is the filter, gravel and decorations all from the older tank? Also for one fish to be floating so soon suggest gases have accumulated in the fish. When they first die sinking is normal. They will float days later once gas as started to accumulate. Us there anything new added to this tank? And this tank was rinsed and or washed
  9. Ok. So these are new setups. Aquariums are just cycling. Most likely it’s not the source/tap it is the cycle of the tank. I would not clean any glass, decorations or filters. Don’t feed, and due a water changes. Healthy animals can go days without us feeding them. Maybe check just the ammonia after a couple hours, if levels are still Maybe very light feeding after another couple hours.
  10. How big are the aquarium’s? How long have they been set up? I would stop adding food to the tanks and if the animals are not showing signs of stress maybe a small water change, maybe 10% -15%. Can you test the source of your water? You may have high amounts in your source/tap water. If it checks ok, maybe do another water change of about the same amounts. Leave them alone for a couple hours and test again. Let’s us know what’s going on then. Good Luck
  11. Is it important to keep it below or around 7.0? What Apisto are you keeping? Are they tank raised? If so what PH? With most (Most) fish they want a constant water parameter. I have seen a lot of people kill fish because they tried to chase a parameter and the water was always different. If the extreme’s didn’t kill them the stress from changing water conditions did. So are these wild caught fish? Or maybe F1 or F2? Even by F2 (second generation tank raised) could be on slightly different water parameters. Also, a lot of the time fish want a lower PH or Hardness for egg fertilization or hatching. Good Luck
  12. I once had a male paradise that was horrible at nest building. (Some young pairs need practice). Anyway this male never got it right. I had a hard time getting any eggs that spent a lot of time on the bottom to hatch. So, I took a piece on wax paper maybe 5 inches square. I rolled it up the side of the aquarium to hold it in place. Even doing this this male would not build a nest, but I noticed that bubbles - Droplets of waters would rest on top of the wax paper. BTW parchment paper worked also. So I used my Turkey baster and placed the eggs on top of the wax paper. Using a clean spray bottle I misted the eggs when they looked as if drying out. Once hatched added water over top of wax paper. BTW, this male was an incredible dad careful attending to the fry for a week or so. Good Luck
  13. Did you mean to say this? I think any of the Plecos I have spawned has been 3 or so days depending on temperature.
  14. I just add it to the tank. Haven’t had any issues yet. I’ve been doing this for a long time. When I change water in my 125 gallon I will gravel vac with tap running and pull out 25-30 gallons, add my prime or whatever and fill the aquarium. Then start vac again …. But second time to save water. I turn off tap and let gravity work. It’s a little slower but I use this time to service filters, clean glass and glass lids…. I then add my prime or API Stress Coat and fill aquarium. On this particular aquarium Changing about 50-60 gallons a week for the last 20 years…
  15. I had two pairs at first and then added a third. When I started keeping discus I had between 30ish and 40ish tanks setup. Once raising them started I went down to 8-12 or so tanks.
  16. You need to do you. I will tell you when I was spawning Discus I started the fry around 13-17 days in a tray a lot like Dean shows. And depending on the size of the spawn, upgraded that to 2 or 3 ten gallon tanks and then to a couple 29 gallons. I don’t have auto water change systems. So I was changing water at least daily. And at least two baby brine hatcheries going everyday. You need to do you….
  17. I think it all depends on the fish. I have kept betta’s In community tanks. I think , in males it’s like a switch gets turned on once separated from siblings and they find it hard to tolerate any tank mates. And as for females, well I had it work until it doesn’t. Good Luck
  18. You do you. You need to look at your tank and love it. You have more than enough BB on the gravel and decorations and glass. Now it’s nice to have BB in many locations. My smallest tank running currently is 40 gallon it is over stocked and I have a under gravel filter and a marineland emperor HOB. Driftwood, Plants and gravel. And I tend to feed heavy. It’s actually my newest aquarium -up and running just over 6 years now. If you love it, and the filters are easy to maintain I think that is the goal.
  19. Yes you can. If they do have something nasty … some might say don’t worry about it. Leaving the tank fish-less - no host.. just let the tank run empty. maybe a 2-3 weeks. I say it’s only 10 gallons. Break it down and clean. Good Luck.
  20. I was just wondering what everyone does for air movement in and around fishroom/house? As for me and my home I set the blower motor on my furnace/air conditioner to on. The blower runs non stop 24 hours a day. I also have a portable dehumidifier. I have done this since purchasing this home 23 years ago. And to be honest I no longer have a fish room I have 6 aquariums in my family room. Thanks
  21. I add the Prime- API Stress coat directly to the aquarium. If you are concerned with over dosing, take total gallons divide how many inches tall the tank is. 125 gallon tank divided by 22 each inch of water removed is about 5.7 gallons. Good Luck
  22. I would think they would be fine. Like any outside fish we have some concerns. Neighborhood cats, temperature extremes, neighbors kids. Maybe wait until water temperature stay above 67-68 at least. Good Luck
  23. I don’t believe it matters. The temperature control valve doesn’t know how the water was heated. But I have no experience with that.. lol.
