  1. @Colu yeah, that's exactly what mine look like, but have been that way since the day I brought them home 2+ weeks ago, so hopefully they're still not stressed 😞 I just finished a round of KanaPlex, so not sure if I want to medicate again, or maybe wait a week and then do the quarantine trio that I should have done weeks ago...lesson learned...
  2. @Colu here are a couple of pics - sorry about the quality of the second image, but she was in the back of the tank so hard to get the camera to focus on her, but you can see the color of one of the other embers in that pic as well...also, there is not a spot in his eye, that is a bubble I think or just a reflection...not ick @Mmiller2001 I just did a water change, so I want to let it filter for a little bit so the readings are accurate, the only meds I've given was KanaPlex for the past week (third treatment yesterday) for possible columnaris...I will post parameters shortly, but have been fairly consistently at Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate ~7, PH 7, Kh 3, Gh 7
  3. kind of battling two issues right now - a possible columnaris infection, detailed in a different thread...but, also have three of my 18 tetras that have literally zero color - the others all are at least a light orange color, and some are that nice deep orange/red color. I am at a loss for why those couple would still not have any color at all...not even a tinge on their fins...literally grey/clear all over and have been that way since I brought them home anyone have any ideas? they all came from the same lfs, so kind of confused at this point, I thought they would color up after a few days (which most did), but these have been in the tank for 2+ weeks... any help is appreciated
  4. well...not why I wanted to grab another tank, but my 10g quarantine sprung a leak...my poor honey gourami and pygmy corys had to deal with coming home yesterday and then being transferred into a different tank today...seem to be doing ok though...I have no idea what happened...that tank has had water in it for a month with no issues...ugh...oh well...at least there was a sale 🙂
  5. UPDATE: Well...I am currently fighting a possible columnaris outbreak in this tank - some white patches on two of the embers (looks like the color just faded out, not fuzzy or raised), but, so far no losses (knock on wood...fingers crossed) my rotala is starting to get some good growth and some decent red (ish) color too 🙂 my chain sword has also sent out its first runner (ok, its two leaves, but I honestly didn't think it was going to make it, so kind of happy) my three crypts are starting to flourish as well 👍 I have also upgraded my light, so I am hoping that with the light better dialed in (Fluval Sky) it will help with some algae control - I am hoping to get some amano shrimp after I figure out exactly what is going on with my fish, but hopefully at some point 🙂 Lastly, I have the last "set" of tankmates currently in my quarantine tank...6 pygmy cories (cutest things ever!!) and a "flamingo" honey gourami...never heard of a "flamingo" variant, but I'm thinking he/she (can't tell) will have more red maybe, like a sunset or similar? pretty excited - they are currently swimming around in their blue water apparently not phased by the quarantine trio I administered earlier - the store I finally found this last group was an hour away, but well worth the drive!
  6. now I want to go out and get more tanks...who doesn't love a great sale!! 🙂
  7. I second this one - my tetras LOVE this stuff - if you can't find bug bites, pretty much any food at the pet store will be healthy for your betta...feeding your fish human food would not be healthy for him
  8. Update: So far no fish losses, not sure if it is spreading, but I don't think so - no real changes in the affected fish that I noticed on Tuesday, maybe a little, but might be wishful thinking. Did the second dose of Kanaplex today, so hoping that it starts to get better in the next day or two, or at least keep the fish going. Opinions welcome - given the choice, should I do a course of Maracyn 2 after the first round of Kanaplex, or do a second round of Kanaplex - and should I do a water change a day or two after the third dose of Kanaplex? Never really tried to treat with meds like this before, so thanks for all of the help!!! One more thing...my nitrates are a little low - only at about ~7ish...I usually dose Easy Green 1x week, but haven't yet this week...can I dose while medicating?
  9. Its not just at my local fish stores, I'm sure there is some out there somewhere, but I've checked several places across the country as well as Amazon, Chewy, Pet Smart, Petco, etc... which is why I reached out directly to API to figure out what was going on.
  10. Currently trying to fight columnaris in my tank and can't find API Furan-2 anywhere - finally decided to take a shot and write an email to API off of their website...I actually got a response: "We have been suffering large out of stock issues with suppliers. We are working hard to bring back the API powdered medications to store shelves. We anticipate 2-4 weeks for all the medications to be back on shelf." Figured I would post this here for anyone else who has been looking for it - if you can find it "BiFuran+" has the same two active ingredients that Furan-2 has, but its almost as hard to find Good Luck to everyone, I will keep my fingers crossed for you (and me) that we make it through!
  11. My brother in law had Kanaplex as well, he just didn't have enough furan - can I do the Maracyn 2 with the kanaplex together, basically swap out the furan for the maracyn and do that treatment? or should I just do the maracyn and then treat kanaplex after? thanks for all of your help!!
  12. I tried to catch them and move them to the 10g tank, but I can't...they're too fast and frankly its stressing me out...if I don't have enough furan for all 5 days, should I just use the Maracyn 2? I have enough of that for the full 5 days...I only have enough for 1 full treatment of the fluran right now...
  13. good news...my brother in law has Maracyn 2, Kanaplex and Furan 2!! My hubs is on his way to get it from him... What is this treatment going to do to my filter media? should I take some out (I have 2 full trays in my canister) and "save" it and then put it back in there after the treatment? Or just leave it and hope it doesn't kill all of my BB? at least my tank is relatively clean...was kind of getting overrun with some hair algae, but much better now...I was going to get some amano, but now may have to replace all of my stock 😢 keeping my fingers crossed though that everyone pulls through
  14. I have Maracyn2 on overnight delivery from Live Aquaria and Kanaplex from Amazon due on Thursday - is there anything I can do until then? I don't want all of my fish to die 😞 Is it worth putting Maracyn or ParaCleanse in there - or salt?
  15. is there anything other than Furan2 that I can use? It is out of stock everywhere 😞
  16. Is this the same (or close) to Maracyn? It does state that it is for the treatment of columnaris on the box
  17. Not exactly sure what this is, but it is only affecting one fish - should I move to a hospital tank (assuming I can grab him) or should I treat the whole tank? If I treat, what should I use? I have ParaCleanse and Maracyn Any help is greatly appreciated!! (**current tank setup is 29 Gallon, 18 Embers, 18 CPDs and 3 Otos)
  18. Yeah, I haven't fully decided on the Water Sprite, I just needed something for that side of the tank and wanted some height that gave the fish somewhere to hide if they wanted - they love the rotala so grabbed the Water Sprite and I'll just see how it goes...I like the different texture it gives the tank...at least so far... I've got a Fluval 207 canister on there (you can see the intake and return next to the heater on the right) so, its almost got too much flow, but the littles don't seem to mind - the embers regularly like to swim the current and then "let go" and ride the wave...kind of funny to watch 🙂
  19. This is my first attempt at a planted tank and my first tank in a long time (~15 years) I know it doesn't look like it, but there are currently 18 Embers and 18 CPDs in the tank...the CPDs just went in today, so everyone was a little skittish when I took the picture...everyone seems a little more comfortable and are all exploring the tank now - it was kind of funny, when the CPDs first went in, they mixed in with the Embers and started schooling with them For my plants, I have one unidentified crypt, rotala, an Amazon sword, crypt wendtii, crypt lucens, anubias cofeefolia, water sprite and I am pretty sure my dwarf lilly finally started to sprout, so pretty psyched about that!! let me know what you think
  20. @tnnlynch looking at replacing my light on my 29 - just curious if you got clarification on your issue? would you get the 24" again if you were to do it all over again? hope its working well for you!
  21. Thanks! Totally not my idea, but it definitely works like a charm!
  22. Agree with this! My brother in law gave me part of his Anubias coffeefolia...literally three leaves, the start of a fourth leaf and one root...the fourth leaf has now started to "unfurl" and the lone root is winding its way around my dragon stone - complete plant newbie too, so kind of excited that I haven't killed anything yet - I am also having some luck with my crypt lucens, rotala, and my amazon sword...BIL also gave me a dwarf lily bulb, but hasn't sprouted for me yet, so not sure on that one...
