  1. I have 5 Male Endlers in my Flex. 2 of them who were put in first are constantly chasing and posturing at each other but no damage has been done. Occassionally the other 3 get involved or posture at each other but a lot less than my main 2. On that note I have 4 male Guppies in QT they do similar things. It all seems pretty harmless.
  2. I am no expert on this but from what I researched those with fungus are no longer viable and should be removed. I would venture to guess that if not they might spread fungus to the others.
  3. Interesting. My Harlequins like dark corners too.
  4. @Patrick_G I've said I'd gladly take all of @Mmiller2001's cast offs, I would likely just kill everything but it'd be like getting flowers delivered every week.
  5. No more tanks. Hoping to get my daily maintenance down to 30 minutes or less. Be able to enjoy my fish more.
  6. The three horned Nerites in my Angry Man tank decided today was the day to clean the high up things. This is not a regular sight for me to see all three at the same time- it's usually a game of where's Waldo.
  7. @mona that'll do it. I used root tabs for a little bit when I started back in the hobby. I didn't like how it threw my parameters off. So I stopped. Not telling you to do so- just saying it's something to expect and you have to manage it. My Amazon plant is in a 20 gallon tall and it's curling back down towards the aquarium floor. No root tabs. Just sayin 😉
  8. I agree, they don't deserve to be hated and I understand why they are not welcome in certain environments (I'm not going to let ants or roaches or mice invade my home but understanding why and how they show up and using prevention methods will keep me from having to do erradication efforts). Healthy respect and understaning of nature is what we should all strive for.
  9. Sometimes taking a break is the best thing you can do. Hope everything works out well for you- if the online fish work out you still have store credit for fish food! 😉
  10. I've never understood why people don't appreciate what humans have labeled "pests". Most of them serve a very valuable service to their environment and when looked at closely have some pretty amazing abilities and purpose in the cycle of life. I love this tank.
  11. Ouch. Do you fertilize with just the Easy Green or do you have root tabs too? Others might say it's ok but if I were in your shoes I'd stop fertilizing just for now (it adds nitrates to your water) and do a big water change. Monitor until your cycle is back under control, THEN start fertilizing again. I don't use fertilizers- and my plants do fine. 🙂 So they'll be ok for a little bit. IMO
  12. Generally I've found they are low to medium lights- some of them are not great at growing things- some are. Set it up and if it's not to your satisfaction there are lots of submersible lights on the market you can look into that can be attached to tanks via suction cups- a lot of them can be attached inside the tank lid or you can put them under water. Some have some nice options and they are relatively inexpensive.
  13. I see online an alternative is containing them with an airstone- apparently the bubbles keep the fungus from forming, likely from movement. "Rolling stone gathers no moss"
  14. One of our moderators like @Streetwise can hopefully help you when there's a chance to do so.
  15. You could try Vallisneria for the tall grassy plant, it's really pretty but I've never grown it myself. Never been successful with carpeting plants myself due to my low tech status, trying Monte Carlo for the first time, going ok so far.
  16. Hi there, welcome to the forum. I'm low tech and love a good easy plant. My favorites of these are Anubias (of any kind) as they can just be glued to wood and rocks and look real nice- easily moved when you want to rearrange. I also love Java- Windelov, Narrow Leaf etc, another plant that's glued to things and propogates easily. I don't use fancy lights or fertilizer and all of these do really well in my tanks- even better if you do do those things. I'm a fan of a few stem plants too, Red Needle Leaf, Ludwigia Super Red, and Bacopa.
  17. @Gator had to google it....it says that most species of cypress trees are evergreen with the exception of those in the Taxodium genus which are deciduous. So I guess there's a mix!
  18. @Gator agreed I really like Cholla wood for how cool/alien it looks. Cypress is in the Evergreen family so maybe that's why they put it in the same category as Pine?
  19. Perfect, that and a snail or 2 will be a nice stocking for the tank.
  20. You'll be able to keep several Embers in a 10 gallon, they are super small and very cute and super social. Mine are about a half inch and when healthy and happy they are a pretty bright orange. Bioload is small. I'd probably put 10-15 in a 10 gallon depending on other stock. Mine are in my Flex, they hang out with the Endler males I've put in there and I'm working on bringing up their numbers. I had 10 but lost 5 to a tank illness. 😞 I miss the little guys.
  21. @Torrey probably why I've never been there, I'm not done with my other rabbit holes (here and youtube and....)
