  1. Well ****, shes just gone belly up and dead in a blink, wtf I'm now completely stumped
  2. I did a single does of maracyn, it's the next morning and we'll she's out more not running around but she's more uncramped and moving around, she did finally eat though it was just one Crisp, but she did eat something, so thats a start
  3. Well I've got four packets of maracyn and six packets of maracyn 2, so I don't a full courses but if I do one dose I should notice a difference in 24 hours if it's something bacterial right
  4. That's what I was thinking but it's the evening of day three and she still won't eat anything, live or frozen or dried and it's just worrying me
  5. I did 25% on the 20gL with stress coat + at 1 per gal and added 2.5tbs, the Molly's are loving it but she's the same after 24hr, the 10g where she was kept when she came in and during birth maybe 6 hours total in that tank, 1pm till about 7pm, I did a 50% same night same way, no salt and ammonia went away that next morning
  6. Okay I got this sword tail 2 days ago she started giving birth in the bag so I let her give birth in one tank (10g pH 7.8 -8, kh 180, gh 300+, A 0.25 -0.5, nI 0, nA 25-50 and then moved her to the to the other one when she was done (20gL pH 7.2, kh 40, gh 300+, A 0, nI 0 nA 50-100, I floated her and the baby she gave birth to already in the bag for 15 emptied it let her finish giving birth about 3 hours later I moved her into the 20 gallon which houses just a few guppy fry and two female silver mollies with MTS, both tanks are running stress coat Plus, one squirt per gallon is the dosage, no change to her, added a bit of salt no change to her, does anyone know what's going on here, it's 2 days and she's not eating and it's worrying me, oh she also had 57 fry If that matters.
  7. A O, tap A 0, I'll set a cup out and check it in 24 hours but I ran them through the trio 4 months ago and no other new stuff's been added
  8. 55gl 4 months old at 80ish, one canister, one hang on the back with aragonite and a mesh filter bag. stocking, duckweed, hornwort, bell pepper and an unknown plant. pestnails, 12 MTS, 10ish guppies 3 Pilates 4 Molly's and a 7-in pleco, (bad test strip ph7.2) retest 4x ph6.4, gh 300+, kh 120ish. A 0, NI 0, NA 30-40 Does anyone know why my guppies and platys are all hiding up in the corner directly under the outlet of the canister filter, cuz the Molly's and the Pleco are still running around just fine only changed 5gl 3 days ago and the only thing different is I did not add salt back to the water I changed, and some of them are diving to the bottom and rubbing into the sand like trying to wipe something off of themselves for about a week, hence why I changed water and did not add salt, so I don't know what they're doing, do 1 of y'all of know (edit 3 I think I have bad strips and kits, strip 1 ph 7.2 - 7.6 strips 2,3,4,5, 6.4, 7.6 6.4 6.4, api test kit low ph sold 7.6, high ph 7.8 maybe a 8, so still idk I guess the mystery just gets thicker)
  9. Okay y'all what did I collect, Southern Illinois, backyard Creek, water is about 50ish 1 day after rain at 3am, there's an American bullfrog and a southern green frog living in the deepest part of the creek along with wild minnows and pest snails where these were collected, what are they, cuz I have an idea what they are but I'm not for sure
  10. Hey y'all I got these Malaysian trumpets in today put them in a quarantine tank 10 gallon ph7.2 gh 300+ kh 80-100ish A,0 NI,0 NA,20-30 temp 82ish, with the medtrio, (there a ebay from Florida and look like pond raised, so zero trust given) but my question is, do they "require" a substrate because they've pushed up my filter and stuff, and there trying to hide under anything they can and I'm just wondering is it okay to keep them in a bare bottom med tank for the week or should I add some kind of substrate
  11. Yes thats is a ghost shrimp or glass shrimp, I have a 10 gallon of them breeding, if you look extremely closely on the antenna I there's an colored band, yours have a orangeish band that identifies it, I believe as a Eastern North American Glass shrimp, same as mine, if they're more reddish I think they're a western North American variety, (but they have exoskeletons that's built with all the food they eat and stuff in the water and that does affect how their exo looks ). they shed this regularly as they grow, I believe the discolorations you are seeing are imperfections or excess / deficiencies in the exoskeleton of your shrimp, keep watching it and it should molt eventually and then recheck it after it molts, if there is some kind of mineral deficiency of some kind you'll see it but, if it comes out looking like a normal ghost shrimp then it was just an imperfection in the exo from previous conditions, and not all glass/ghost shrimp are going to be clear, they're all going to have some kind of discoloration to a point but because they're called ghost/glass shrimp it does mean they should be at least mostly clear, but take my advice with a grain of salt I'm still learning myself but It appears we have the same shrimp, and I've had them come in and look just like that, they molt and there just fine, if you do see any issues after a molt add a Wonder shell then just repeat the whole wait and check process again, but I don't see anything wrong with that one, looks just fine to me

    Dropsy I think

@Colu these about the best pictures I've got of this little spot I'm talking about
  13. Dr.rex

    Dropsy I think

@Colu no it's not whatever that is, 1 Google search later, it was a little bump on the top of the head just like on the right side of the Temple, I watched it for like a week and then 1 day it turned white and fluffy so I put it in the other tank and start treating with maracyn, 2 days later the bump and the fluff went away, but the exact spot started getting real red and veiny and the fish just puffed up with all the scales out, and the fins started getting real badly tattered and losing all of its color
  14. Dr.rex

    Dropsy I think

She had a white somewhat fluffy spot on her head and I treated it with maracyn first then on day 2 adding the other two of the trio and it went away but this is 4 days after treating with medicine and all her scales are like puffed out, badly tattered fins and that white fluffy spot went away and turned into like a red patch, real veiny and red all-over but like 10 minutes after these photos she laid on her side and passed, I would just like to know what could have done this, cuz she got sick in a community tank and I put her in the hospital tank to treat and welp 1 less sadly 10gl ,ph 7.2, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 50ish, GH 300+, kh 40-0 (working on it) light 100w led soft white, 18/6 cycle, Caribbean sea aragonite in a filter bag, 2 old whisper filters and the med trio running, picture of the 20gl long community tank she originated in added
  15. So I miss identified these guys as parasites, and the lovely community here has helped me identify them as helpful things and that I want to keep. so now the question begs how do I keep these things, are there certain things I should be doing or should I just leave it alone and let it do its thing
  16. I be damed ,you're both right, Cyclops and detritus worms, I feel so stupid can't believe I mistook them for parasites and well started scrubbing I guess would be the right words for it, I guess that's what happens when you see something you never seen before you kind of freak out a bit, but that's what they are so I guess I need to learn how to take care of my new critters
  17. Okay I guess I need more research but ya I guess I do have a colony of these Cyclops things, I've never heard of them, seen them or even dealt with them so I'm not surprised I mistook them, but I also have tiny clear worms on the glass, those are parasites or am I mistaken as well
  18. So in the fish corner picture there's two active tanks left a 10 gallon shrimp tank (bottom right) and my new 20 gallon long, the 2 10s on top and the 5 under the 20 are broke down and drying out and the original 10 gallon on the bottom left with a little bit of water left in it is the one started all of this ****, but ill put pictures of the ones that are still up and that I'll truly have to deal with, but honestly I think I'm just going to bleach the others and be done with them for awhile anyway and just run my 10 and 20 for now
  19. this was my community 10gal of assorted guppy/ albino corridora's/American Glass shrimp and a couple nitrite snails and a pleco that started my multiple tank syndrome Edit 2 I don't test my water so I couldn't tell you what it is but it's Southern Illinois so just stupid hard water is all I know but I use natural regulator seven as my water conditioner so idk and they just got done with a set of API fungus, bacterial and parasite meds and salt. Edit 3 Okay y'all after much research and consulting, sadly this is a failed general cure run that has resulted in the contamination of my tanks Live and learn I guess. Edit 4 ,so with more research and the helpful people here I guess I've done a terrible identification and overreacted taking down most of my tanks, and I have to agree with the people here, it's Cyclops and deterias worms so in the name of discussion, what is the best thing have y'all used to treat parasites.
