  1. So, one of my tanks (classic guppies/snails/shrimp tank) had some clear parasite issues so I medicated it with paracleanse according to Aquarium Coop's directions and that is going very well. However I decided to medicate another tank I have because I have been using the same nets back and forth and some of the mollies there had clamped fins and another fish there had recently got half her tail bitten off so I figured the antibacterial and anti fungal wouldn't hurt so I hit it with the full classic trio, Marycin, ich-x and paracleanse. The morning after, the tank is super cloudy, fish gasping for air and my salvini male starts showing some extreme dying behaviour (sinking to the bottom, smashing into the substrate and decor, floating upside down, etc...). So I did a 80% waterchange and added an airstone but meanwhile the salvini male died. Has anyone had a similar experience with those meds? I think they might have maybe killed a lot of beneficial bacteria and/or depleted the water of oxygen.
  2. Dr.rex

    Dropsy I think

She had a white somewhat fluffy spot on her head and I treated it with maracyn first then on day 2 adding the other two of the trio and it went away but this is 4 days after treating with medicine and all her scales are like puffed out, badly tattered fins and that white fluffy spot went away and turned into like a red patch, real veiny and red all-over but like 10 minutes after these photos she laid on her side and passed, I would just like to know what could have done this, cuz she got sick in a community tank and I put her in the hospital tank to treat and welp 1 less sadly 10gl ,ph 7.2, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 50ish, GH 300+, kh 40-0 (working on it) light 100w led soft white, 18/6 cycle, Caribbean sea aragonite in a filter bag, 2 old whisper filters and the med trio running, picture of the 20gl long community tank she originated in added
  3. Hello, I have a 3-year old, 15 gallon nano tank. It contains 1 betta, 6 otocinclus cat fish, and 2 amano shrimp. My parameters are: ph 6.8 - 7.0, ammonia 0, nitrites 0, nitrates 5ppm, gh 179 ppm, and kh 35.8 ppm. Water temp is 78 degrees. I do biweekly water changes and dose with Aquarium Co-op Easy Green, Iron, and root tabs. My tank is heavily planted with low maintenance plants (anubias, java fern, swords, crypts) and I do not use CO2 injection. Here is my question: How do I raise the KH to a more acceptable level without increasing the water hardness/GH? I have SeaChem Equilibrium, but do not know how to dose my tank enough to raise the KH without raising the GH. I do not want to use RO water. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
