  1. Hi all, my nerite snail was missing for 1-2 days and I couldn't find him. I got nervous as there was a big gap in my lid. I was cleaning my tank and saw him on the counter, I put him in the tank, he hasn't moved and doesn't smell though I am worried. Will he survive? How long can they stay out of water? Thank you in advance.
  2. I added some fertilizer. More aquarium plants are coming, Gotta plant those. (the new plants aren't from aquarium co-op! Sorry! Please don't hurt me, lol!) That's about it.
  3. Hi all, I saw on one of aquarium co-op's blog posts by Irene, it said "Following the recommended fertilizer dosing instructions, but then four months later when the plants have grown to triple their original size, you’re still dosing the same amount. Just as you automatically feed more food if you add more fish to an aquarium or if they grow bigger over time, you need to feed your plants more as they get taller or propagate." Is this true? Do you have to constantly up your fertilizer dosage? Am I doing it wrong? I have been dosing the same amount the whole time.
  4. I have otocinclus too but its a bit of a different story. I got new juvenile otocinclus so they are pretty small. Sometimes I can't find them. I search the tank high and low. Then a few hours later they pop up again! They hide really easy but then pop up again! Lol!
  5. So, yesterday I got 6 otocinclus as well as bought a lot more aquarium plants. I got the aquarium plants in the mail so they should arrive in a few days. I will send a pic of the otos later and as well as explain the aquarium plants I brought later. The otos I got were actually really well-fed, happy, and energetic. IMO and IME that's quite rare for otos as they are mostly wild-caught. I fed them repashy soilent green and blanched veggies. They finished it all. (I added the otos to my 20 gal tank) Current stocking: 1 betta 8 harlequin rasboras 6 sterbai corydoras 6 otocinclus
  6. UPDATE: I got otocinclus! So, I yesterday I called 4 LFS and only 1 had them (otocinclus) in stock. Turns out, 3 of them didn't and only 1 LFS had them in stock. The otos I got were actually really well-fed, happy, and energetic. IMO and IME that's quite rare for otos as they are mostly wild-caught. I fed them repashy soilent green and blanched veggies. They finished it all. Also, I have a betta in that tank and things kinda went sideways when I added the otos... My betta is really peaceful so I assumed nothing would happen. I added the otos and my betta started chasing and biting the otos. I got so scared I started shaking, lol. I caught the betta with a net and put him in a clear breeder box in the tank until I think she's calmed down. Now it's a waiting game. I have complete faith she will calm down. She is incredibly peaceful. I got 6 otocinclus when I asked for 4. The owner was really nice and I asked for 4 otocinclus he gave me 6 for the price of 4. The otos are really cool to watch. Thank you guys a lot for your help and guidance.
  7. Here are two pics of my betta , Poseidon. I didn't draw it but someone else did for me. Now, I just need a drawing of my other betta fish.....
  8. Thanks, Yeah that log I bought for my betta but I forgot that cholla wood sinks...lol and on another forum a member recommend that trick and it worked. Thanks, I agree, that drawing is really pretty but I didn't draw another member on another forum did. I will post that pic on that thread if I can find it. 🙂
  9. Oh, okay, I guess I will just post my question on the forum. Thanks for the clarifaction @Daniel 🙂
  10. @Daniel I was trying to P.M a regular member on this forum but she works for Aquarium co-op, Irene. I wanted to ask Irene about hilstream loaches because she recently made a video on them and otocinclus.
  11. Hey guys! So, I have a question. I tried starting a P.M with a specfic person and it said (person's name) cannot recieve messages Can someone help me out? Thanks in advance!
  12. I have already watched that video about 5 times already, I am a big fan of @Irene and her channel, girl talks fish! 😁
  13. After @James Black's post and after @Brandy's post I am not sure the shrimp will be happy and content. Besides. the rasboras and corydoras are two other "predators". I think the shrimp are off the list. Thanks though guys! 🙂 Hey @Seattle_Aquarist I agree. From my research GDA and BGA are tough algaes to beat and most fish, shrimp, snails won't eat those algaes. Yeah so far I have been scurbbing it off with filter floss and aquarium safe foam. That procedure for BGA was super helpful! I am gonna try it out. It's mostly on my driftwood. There are a few spots left, wish me luck!! (I will try your prcedure today and let you know how it goes) Thoguh Brown Diatom algae has been taken over my tank like crazy as well....
  14. Even if the betta is really peaceful (the rasboras sometimes steal food from her but she doesn't mind, she never harasses her tankmates) will the betta still see the shrimp as a snack? I think I am considering the otocinclus or hillstream loaches. One of them and 1 nerite as well.
  15. Hey @Seattle_Aquarist The type of algae I have is cyano bacteria, green dust algae, brown diatom algae, and regular green slimy algae. IKR, I need help, lol. Based off of this, which one do you think would be best for my tank?
  16. Agreed, Dark mode on other forums is much easier on my eyes, when will it be back?
  17. Hi all, I have a tank that needs help. By help I mean an algae eater. There are so many choices, which one should I go for? Info about the tank I need an algae eater for: it's a 20 gal long tank It's planted It's cycled Current fish: 6 sterbai cory 8 harlequin rasboras 1 very peaceful male betta
  18. Thanks for the warm welcome and complementing my fish! My bettas are showstoppers. 🤩 I agree, that is one of my fav pics. All the corys lined up are so cute. The corys are usually pretty skittish, I guess they were just in the mood for a family pic, lol. 😋 Lol, they posed perfectly for the shot. 😅 Thanks, I agree, I like the scape too, (it's my first planted tank, IMO I did pretty good) I just need to plant it more in my opinion.
  19. I did water changes on all my tanks including trimming plants (that have dead leaves) , scrubbed off a bunch of algae, filter cleaning, added fertilzers. The usual water change routine.
  20. Hey! I'm new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself and my tanks. I have been in the hobby for 2 years, I know about the aquarium cycle and I am not am a newbie to the hobby. Glad to meet new people and be on this forum. 😊
