  1. resize your pics slightly, and they should load normal. as for disturbing the tank, id not be too concerned. remove plants, hardscape etc to a bucket. scoop out the blue gravel you dont want, then add in new, and rescape. likely it will have very little effect on anything as the remaining plants, hardscape etc will still have all the good bacteria on them. i would say within a few days the tank will be back to normal.
  2. it depends entirely on how heavily you intend to stock it. i have a 120, i run 2 ancient emperor 400 HOB's on it. run them at one level below full blast and ive always been happy with them. if you are going to moderately stock, try a large sponge with a good quality hob, or canister. if in the long run it doesnt get the job done, you can always add another HOB, etc.
  3. i just stick them between my thumb and first two fingers, reach in there and shove 'em down into the substrate. its really not a big deal. they just need to have a little substrate on top of them to keep from floating.
  4. yeah, doesnt sound right. guppies can handle high 60's no problem.
  5. it could very well be a plant pearling.
  6. i dont care for snakes on land, in the water, poof im gone. michael phelps isnt keeping up with me when snakes are involved.
  7. ive pondered this too. started to wonder if i might have a few too many guppies in my 120, when it looks like a piranha feeding frenzy when i open the lid to toss in some food.
  8. there's some beutiful waters to be found out there. ive swam off of one of the smaller phillipino islands. couldnt ask for any better water to watch swimming things. but like everything else in life, its all fun and games until the sea snakes come out.
  9. yup, likely some egg layer, and the egg came out with the baby when you netted it.
  10. totally agree they need biofilm to graze on. unless everything you put in that tank came out of another one you should really consider waiting longer than a few weeks to let the tank mature. id probably toss in a few small fish, or a nerite snail to help it along.
  11. lids help. nerites seem to be escape artists. eventually he'll make a break for it, and you might not find him until he's dried up.
  12. i think they are great. ive got crypts, and anubia's i bought as tissue cultures at one of the box stores a good decade+ ago that just keep growing and growing.
  13. 2 nets, one for it to swim into, 1 for you to chase it into the other net with. your hand can be used for the chaser if you dont have 2 nets.
  14. fungus looking crud=fungussy.😜
  15. looks to be a tear. if you see white fungussy edges along the tear, then you have some rot and should treat. large guppy tails are just fragile things.
  16. ice storms coming. that lump of coal might be important!
  17. welcome aboard. did see you asking in the stream today. here's my idea, 6 more embers, and if you're brave 10 cherry shrimp.
  18. i think your plans are okay. now i myself personally would start with just 1 of each plant. lots of us seem to have a few plants we just cant keep alive. so i would start with 1 of each, see what thrives, as you can always add more later.
  19. i would think, even if they just absorbed nutrients during light hours (which i doubt is true), if you dosed ferts at night, the ferts would still be in the tank for the plants to use when the lights come on. i cant see any problem with dosing ferts at night.
  20. i would say there was a manufacturing, and or an assembly error on that stand.
