  1. you can buy all the parts, but whatever tubing python uses is the bomb. my python is over 25yrs old, and ive replaced a couple of the fittings, but the tubing is great.
  2. im going to have to see the teeth on them things before i render a verdict!
  3. yup, i'd wager they take care of it in some way.
  4. thats a pretty rough looking specimen.
  5. id use faucet washer silicone. people safe, so should be fishy safe too.
  6. my shrimp were safe with my CPD's, however the cpd's found the eggs a delicacy and would rip them off the female shrimp.
  7. looks like its about to start sprouting baby plants from those spots.
  8. i agree with the above. pick of the yellow, and damaged leaves, and plant it. it may or may not melt back. its a wait and see thing.
  9. fish first. shrimp later, as they do better in a more established tank.
  10. you probably wont need an air stone in addition to the sponge filter, but you can always add one if you feel the need.
  11. i would bet it is fine. fill it with water somewhere safe, and let it sit for a few days.
  12. i would suggest picking up a good sponge filter to try. take out 1 existing filter, and put a sponge in its place for a while and see how you like it. if you think its good, you can try replacing the other one. there is no hard and fast rule, every one's tank is different, and you just have to figure out what works well for you.
  13. its a general rule of thumb to get you started. to me, it comes down to how do the plants look? if they look healthy, show signs of growth etc, dont worry about the numbers.
  14. snails, like fish, and plants, everything in this hobby can be accomplished in a multitude of ways.
  15. i would consider trying a few java ferns. they tend to require little care, and dont need a very fancy light.
  16. there are those that use bleach, but if you just have to do it, hydrogen peroxide is a better option imo. for me personally, bleach doesnt come anywhere near my fish tanks.
  17. i cant help. will be interesting to watch how it goes. ive only ever had standard wild crayfish, and they never had anything like that.
  18. it is probably more related to the type of wood than anything else. some woods tend to get soft, and decay quickly when submerged
