  1. if i was to guess, its probably mostly crushed coral.
  2. your fish should be fine at the temps you keep your home.
  3. hit the aquarium co-ops videos on youtube. lots of good info there, as well as read here and ask questions.
  4. cant find a clamp, a small zip tie will git er done too!
  5. light intensity is going to depend a lot on the light you choose. but generally somewhere between 6 and 8 hrs is a good start. fertilizer, start with the recommended dosage. everything with plants is a wait and see, then make a small change, and wait some more, and repeat until you find the magic spot.
  6. it was something like 150psi, and it would just blow out wherever it felt like. this was some special green colored pvc that was made for air. our maintenance guy hated that stuff. we were never too happy with it when it failed either, as bad things happen on a press when you lose air while running.
  7. with the low pressure, and volume of air being used in an aquarium or modest amount of aquariums, i think its a non issue. sort of related, back when i was a printer we had shop air plumbed to the presses by large pvc pipes, when those failed, there was no shrapnel, but holy heck your ears would suffer if you were within a hundred feet of the break.
  8. if the plant is in the aquarium water, it will feed from the water column.
  9. i dont think it matters. if its approved for medical use, its pretty safe.
  10. even the culls of those guppy's will make most people pretty happy!
  11. stick a couple rocks under each side.
  12. just hot water, and scrub them.
  13. thats fairly close to level. problem is when trying to level is everything shifts once you add water weight.
  14. lots of nutrients, and light can cause a bloom that will turn the water green. its not harmful, just unsightly. lots of natural daylight really gets green water going.
  15. absolutely, if you have time to safely get the critters, you should do so.
  16. if you havent used water from that faucet in a few days, just run it for a minute before using it for your tanks.
