  1. my opinion, that tear just looks like some of the smear out. if its not actually torn into the corner seam itself, i would not mess with it. especially since new silicone does not like to adhere to old dry silicone.
  2. pythons come with a shutoff valve right near the suction end. if yours dont have one, have no fear, you can buy the parts.
  3. a 20-30 gallon rubbermaid tub makes a good temporary tank . you can stuff everything in it, fish/water/plants/substrate, etc while you paint your hearth, and the tanks stand. when done you have a nice storage tub, or emergency fish holder.
  4. depends on how much medication, how much carbon, how much water flow thru the carbon, and how much water in total. imo best to do a water change, and add carbon, then in a few days repeat. that will typically remove the vast majority of any kind of medication.
  5. if the rhizome is down in the rock wool. i personally wouldnt leave it in the pot.
  6. sometimes you can get away with it, but you really dont want the rhizome in the substrate. its fine to stuff the roots into the substrate.
  7. brsitlenose plecos are a decent alternative if you like babies. once they get started, they keep making em.
  8. heres my take. everything below the surface of the water in a tank feeds from the water column regardless of whether people classify them as root feeders or water column feeders.

it depends on just what you mean by juvenile. if they are old enough to breed, there's a decent chance they have.
  10. theyll be fine. i have an old (16yrs+) bronze cory, its buddy died 2 years ago. it is doing just fine.
  11. i myself would move them all at once, however if the 32 isnt really well established, do a few at a time , every other day or so, so that the bacteria levels can adjust.
  12. give it a try, worst case scenario you can always go back where it is now.
  13. for color, you really have to go with what appeals to your eye. i myself like either a natural river run type gravel or if i go color, i mix 3/4 dark blue with 1/4 black.
  14. if you like it low, what you have should be fine.
  15. id just swap it out, and feed light for a day or two.
