  1. That makes sense. I was worried about fungal. Thank you for your reply. I figure a good sign they vigorous and active.
  2. I have Colombian tetra in my 40 gallon. They have spawned and are doing well. I have two that have developed strange spots. I tried to quarantine, but they are fast and can’t catch them. I have a dense plant load so hard to catch. Here are some photos. I did treat the whole tank with trio regimen and no change. Community tank with Corey cats and a few zebra danio. They eat normally and otherwise are active. Any thoughts?
  3. Thank you for the insight. I will watch it for changes. So if really increases in number, then that would be more concerning?
  4. My flame dwarf gourami has had these two spots for like 3 weeks. Do they look like Ich? I wasn’t sure since it’s been 3 weeks with no change.
  5. Yep. Quite smelly. All parameters are stable. I wonder if this was a resource issue with the hitchhiker bladder snails I had. Have since removed majority of the bladder snails. Hopefully won’t be an ongoing issue.
  6. KH is 120. Typo. Temp is 76 That’s a good point. The tetras were a bit nippy until my tank grew in a bit. Seemed to have calmed down now.
  7. I am at a loss with some snail deaths. I have a densely planted 40 gallon breeder. I have healthy zebra danio and Colombian tetra. The tetra are spawning and have some babies. I use coop fert weekly. I use Seachem potassium 2 days a week due to my ferns turning brown. This week I noticed three of my rabbit snails and 3 of my Nerite snails had not moved. I pulled them today and they are quite dead. Smell test was not good! Ph 7.6 nitrate between 25&50 nitrite 0 ammonia 0 chlorine 0 kH 120 GH 150 temp 76 and iron and copper are not detectable. All done with test strips. I have two mystery snails and several more nerites cruising the glass. The only recent change is added purigen to my HOB and did about 10% water change a week ago. I feed pellet, algae wafers and bottom micro wafers only three days a week due to a bladder snail boom. I also have Corey’s and shrimp that are doing well. Any ideas. Just thought it was weird so many died at once.
  8. Wow those look great. Not sure what I am doing wrong. I had 4 starts and 2 slowly died. The other two staying tiny. I have in a planted aquarium held with airline clip and all leaves emersed. Do you do any fertilizers or supplement. My other aquatic plants growing well.
  9. That’s awesome. I just set up a fluval flex 15 as well. I used dwarf sag, Java fern, Christmas moss, bolbitus, moss balls, and Anubius. Have some riccia floating and well. Only planted for about 5 weeks. Seems to be doing ok. I use easy green once a week and potassium as my ferns seem to do better in my other set ups. What do you think of the light? I am Thinking maybe changing the hood and getting 12 inch coop light.
  10. So really leaving in the pot is not the best idea either then, right. So far I have attached all to hardscape in my 40. But thinking about doing a new aquarium with planters. This is my 40 gallon.
  11. I am new to the forum. I have tried to find an answer to this question online searching. But, I can not find an answer. If one can pot the rock wooled and potted fern in an easy planter, why can one not place the rhizome in the substrate? Or will the rhizome rot in the rock wool as well? I just can’t reconcile this in my mind. I am sure I am missing something.
