They did that when he was found as a stray before he went to the adoption agency. I understand the reasoning but ….

He is our Boo bear.

Mine was caught outside (she used to be an outside cat), fixed and then she came back home after a week with the tip cut off 😅

🥳

Catherine the Great looks like she is going to explode with eggs. 3 yes THREE of the boys have built a little bubble nest in different areas. Lights were out so no photos turned out. The boys are going crazy all over the place in their territory doing sexy little fish wiggles to entice her to choose them 🥰 I’m leaving a little light on for them tonight to set the romance mood. 💕💕💕

Hatch number 2 of German blue rams are free swimmers today. Most are hiding behind the heater in the left but you can see a few.

Tipping an ear under anesthesia is way better than being opened up again and getting a full abdominal exploratory unnecessarily.  It takes a lot of gut moving around to prove to yourself that the bits aren’t there.  Trust me on that one because I’ve been there, done that.

I had no clue you had to open them to know. I thought it was so they could tell they had been caught once and were not able to be rehomed a second time.
Thanks for furthering my understanding.
His tipped ear gives my Boo Bear character 🥰

It’s solely to prevent unnecessary surgery.  Plus they can be released immediately if they’ve been trapped since it’s easy to see there’s no reason to take them in to be neutered again.

Can’t wait to see their fry! Have you started culturing micro foods?

I have tons of micro foods. I’m not pulling the fry or trying to raise them. If they make it to where I can see them though I’ll pull them.

Two of the bubble nests are left. One must have gotten disturbed. The two boys they belong to won’t leave or let anyone near. Cat is still her majestically plump self but no longer looks like she swallowed a cue ball.
The bubbles do not want to show up on camera between the duckweed.

I do love this journal! Fun to see the Anchor cats, I have been considering getting some. They look so fun! 😍

They are not as shy as I was led to believe. They have no fear of me as long as there is shade. They avoid bright light but come right to the coral feeder when I feed them BBS and worms. They don’t move away from my hands at all. I have the tank set up all low bushy plants including lining most of the front against the glass. I only feed near the front so they made their territory there so I can always see them. Very fun fish. I highly recommend them.

Or you’re secretly injecting them with hormones…😜😆

@Torrey is not as active on the forum right now but is a friend of mine outside the forum and has been breeding zebra danios for quite some time. Next time I chat with them I’ll ask for tips and tricks for you.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve managed to breed them before, but the trials of being young and budgeting for ones hobby has distracted me from getting in new spawners. My youngest egg-laying fish are probably the 12 Leopard Danios I bred 8-10 months ago… It’s why my new tank is so important for me!

Thanks for the offer though. 🙂

They do this “something” all the time. I just never see babies resulting 🤨

How big are the babies supposed to be?  I would think at least the size of baby mysteries or bigger?  How big are the wizards now?  Are they still young for breeding?  Don’t they get almost 2”?  I know the Japanese trapdoor snail babies came out surprisingly large.  At least the size of about week old mysteries.
