ARMYVET
Well I just got my first rack of my fish room build up and running 2 weeks ago. Started with 5 20 gallon tanks. Have some rainbow guppies in 2 …neon pineapple swordtails in 2 and BN juveniles in one. Well a week ago I came home to some new additions. One of my guppy trios gave birth. I was so unprepared!! I started making BBS around the clock. Here they are a week old! They are already starting to show color. I am amazed how fast they are growing. That BBS is some great stuff! 9
ARMYVET
Well today I came home and once again I was surprised to see that one of my trios of swordtails decided to let loose. These are just hours old. I cannot see how many because of all the guppy grass I have in the tank. I have been told swords are notorious for eating their young. I can only hope their instincts to hide kicks in. here was one little guy cruising around chowing down on that BBS. I have been grinning ear to ear for the last couple hours now! Is that weird lol 6
Griznatch
Woohoo, those kind of surprises are always awesome! Baby live bearers are voracious. We used to have a ten gallon tank that had a lot of detrius worms in it. I put 2 or 3 very small guppy fry in there, and in a couple days there was some really fat fry and very few worms...
ARMYVET
Yeah I swear they eat until I think they are going to burst!! Then they turn to stop eating and then I would swear they say ehhh what the hell and eat some more…😱
lefty o
if you have a pair or more of guppies, you should just expect fry. ive had pineapple swords breed before, and never managed to get more than 1 or 2 at a time babies get past the fry stage. This is how I end up repeatedly battling green water in my fry tank. Like you guys, I'm not making you a brisket, c'mon.
Hobbit
@Fish Folk has had fry actually die from eating too much. 😳 I’ve had a few scares but never lost anyone, thankfully! Congrats on the births!
