  1. You will do great, that Betta is lucky to have that tank!
  2. Just the way you described them makes me ❤️ them and want to breed them 🙂
  3. Never bred anything yet...fun to see what folks would pick before I decide what I would want to try my hand at.
  4. Those tanks are amazing! Never really thought about keeping native species. Missouri has the lovely Niangua Darter, sadly it is endangered☹️ https://mdc.mo.gov/discover-nature/field-guide/niangua-darter Until today hadn't thought about that little guy since college, my degree was in Fisheries and Wildlife, don't get to excited though my emphasis was on the wildlife🤣
  5. I bought 3D printed parts off of Etsy for my Fluval flex. It was a spray bar and different intake covers screens. The same person also made other items like lid props.
  6. My tetras love freeze dried blood worms followed by the co-op small fish/fry food. They don't like krill flakes unless they are smashed up pretty small. I am finding its just trial and error to see what they like🤷🏼‍♀️
  7. How is your experiment going with the eco-complete and sand? I was thinking about topping some of my eco-complete with sand to have "soft islands" for the corys I want to get.
  8. Posted this on my journal page but thought I'd share here too. Found this pre-filter and did the trick to reduce the flow!
  9. Almost forgot I found this small pre-filter and slide it on the spray bar and it helped the high flow problem!
  10. Another new addition today, ivory mystery snail❤️
  11. 10/5/21: Purchased three amano shrimp to help pick through the substrate/plants for missed food. Tetras were interested at first, trying to nip the shrimp. 10/6/21: Not sure where the shrimp went, my guess is hiding in the bonsai moss tree. Every so often I might see one. Today I also took apart the pump in the tank because it was making a noise. While it was apart I rinsed off the tiny sponge that sits inside the pump. Hind sight not a great idea because I was already dealing with the pump being too powerful for the tank, cleaning it only made it worse. I feel bad for the little tetras. Going to a pet store tonight to see if I can modify the spray bar to reduce the flow. If that doesn't work I have a new adjustable pump coming Thursday.
  12. Thanks! Read through that entire other forum you linked to, so helpful, love this community!
  13. Same thing is happening to me with my Fluval flex 15. I bought this mod spray bar on Etsy that said it was low flow and since it has way more holes that the original attachment I thought it would help. Not sure it does. The pump was making a weird noise so I took it apart to clean it and of course that increased the flow more. Going to try the sponge idea on the mod spray bar. Wish Fluval made the pump adjustable😑
  14. One of my other hobbies is being gardener. I have a decent size vegetable garden and start many of my own vegetables from seed indoors. Because of that, I already have a couple of metal shelving units rigged up with grow lights on timers so it got me wondering...what would happen if I got another tank(I know right?!) and set it up under one of the plant grow lights?? They are 36inch Sunblaster LED Strip Lights, 72 LEDs, 36W, 6400k full spectrum. Specs are not too far off from a Fluval light so in my mind there shouldn't be a problem but wanted to ask the hive mind what they thought. Thanks to the video @Cory did about a 20gal guppy/shrimp/java moss tank to make money, I have this crazy idea to start a livebearer breeding tank even though I just recently caught the aquarium hobbyist bug, pretty sure my boyfriend will think I am nuts😬😂
  15. I bought different intake covers and spray bar attachment from a shop on Etsy. That is the old mods I have made to my Fluval Flex 15.
  16. 10/03/21: Added 6 Pristella tetras and another crypt wendtii
  17. Never done a journal on anything before but I thought it might be fun to post my pics and videos of the redo of my Fluval Flex 15gal tank. Filter: Fluval sponge block with biomax cubes and carbon, usb nano pump and ziss air stone Light: Standard Fluval Flex LED light Substrate: Eco-complete Plants: Water sprite, crypto lucens, crypto wendtii, crypto parva, pogostemon stellatus octopus, red dwarf aquarium lily, banana plant and a drift wood bonsai with java moss. Also been rooting some Song of India cuttings in the cut out feeding hole. Fertilizer: Co-op root tabs and easy green Chemicals: Fritz Complete Water Conditioner and Fluval Cycle Pics from initial planting week of Sept 19 2021. Growth after a week
  18. Now I have to add a cube to my list of wants!😆
  19. Either Kuhli loaches or corydoras, leaning corys next. Still trying to decide on my top level species. Probably 3 corys. Tank in cycled. Tank is planted. 15gal tank Eco-complete substrate and I am using the filter sponge block with biomax blocks and carbon that is standard on a Fluval Flex 15. Also using a nano pump with air stone in the tank.
  20. Once your empty/planted tank is FINALLY ready for fish, how long do you wait in between adding each species? I just added 6 tetras to my tank and I tell ya I just want to get more fish now! But I know I should wait and see how the tank reacts before adding another species, just wondering how long does everyone typically wait? Are there any indicators to watch for? Thanks!
  21. Welcome to the forum, there is sooo much good content here and it makes me want to have all the tanks😂 I too just started my 15gal tank, currently only has 6 pristella tetras. Thinking I might get a couple amano shrimp as well to help clean up after the tetras. Jealous of your Celestial Pearl Danios, I have only seen them at one LFS but they were out of stock. Enjoy!
  22. Can I ask what substrate you used for that holding tank? Thanks!
