Since all the plants and filter came from seasoned tanks my hope is there is already biofilm on them. But I will supplement feed them as well. Took em no time at all to find other food dish. My concern is mostly about how hard our water is but has a low kh. One of the reasons I went with locally bred ones, hoping they stand a better chance.

Finally set up my first shrimp tank! Took my old Fluval spec 2.5 and ripped out the back panel so I could have more space. Stratum substrate with a variety of buces, java Fern, anubias, myriophyllum mattogrossense and marimo moss balls. Filter was a gift, but I know they got it from Amazon. Ran it for few weeks in my main tank to build up the beneficials. Today I picked up 6 locally bred fire cherry shrimp from my LFS. They were nice and included a female that was already carrying eggs. I even noticed a couple new born shrimplets in the bag when I got home but they didn't make it past the drip acclimation. Feeding them Xtreme Shirmpee food. I use a straw to drop the pellets into the dish. Here's hoping they like their new home!

Well it looks like the first batch of eggs got fungus, wah wah no babies....yet!(I hope) But I am finding new eggs all the time in the tank. Going to leave them and see what happens, plus I need to learn more about breeding corys I believe my corys are still pretty young so fertilization success may be low I'm guessing.🤷‍♀️

So glad I randomly bought a breeder box before I even had fish🤣 Managed to get five eggs set up in it. I am sure there are other eggs in the tank I didn't see but least these a have shot! Super excited! Never breed anything before!

First time corydoras keeper here, had them couple months now and today noticed these spheres and wanted to get the opinion of more experienced fish breeders. I have 6 corydoras cruziensis and from what I can tell there is a mix of males and females. If they are eggs, what do I do?! 😂 Thanks!

How did you make the overflow into the third chamber? I've been thinking about modifying mine as well.

Just plants while I figure my next fish purchase. Had Corys and few hitchhiker snails in it couple weeks ago but they have moved into my main tank.

Looking for an ideally colorful centerpiece fish/fishes to complete my tank. It's a 15G tank with 5 pristella tetras, 6 corydoras cruziensis, couple amano shrimp and one mystery snail. Very hard water, 74deg temp, planted tank, pH around 7.2. So far nitrates have been around 25ppm when it comes time for the weekly water change. Thanks!

I thawed one cube of bloodworms last night I. aquarium water, feed half and store the other half in the fridge. Are they ok to feed next day? They look ok but thought I would ask, thanks!

Last night at my local fish meeting I won an auction for 6 corydoras cruziensis and I love them already! I brought them home and have them in my 10gal glass bare bottom quarantine tank. The tank has been going for awhile, nitrite and ammonia are zero, nitrate is near zero as well. The thing I battle is high gh, test strip shows 300 but also have a low kh. Ph is around 7.4. There are a couple live plants in the tank and a co-op sponge filter. I know I haven't even had them 24hrs but they aren't moving much and don't seem interested in the frozen bloodworms I gave them. Should I give them another day or two to adjust or start worrying now? Is there something else I should test or try? Thanks!

Sorry things are rocky right now, I recently had a fish disappear with no trace as well. Not to mention the three shrimp I had that disappeared. Wish I could help, but I'm a bit of a newbie myself so all I can say is good luck and I'm pulling for you!

I third the Pristella Tetras! They caught my eye at a LFS when setting up my current tank. Their bodies may not have lots of bright colors but I love their fins!

I have been using Fluval Cycle Biological Enhancer, which I believe is similar to Fritz 7, to cycle my quarantine tank and have similar results.

Been working like a charm, pretty happy with it!

I do like the pristellas for sure, had six one has gone missing but that's the subject of another post lol. I plan to get some corydoras and then something slightly larger than the tetras to be my center piece, like a dwarf or honey gourami.

Still no sign of the missing tetra, every time I check I'm hoping he shows up. I have gently shook the tree just to see... nothing. Don't want to completely remove it yet. No spikes when water testing so that's good I guess. I could see my dog thinking it's a tasty treat, plus her food bowl is near the tank🤣 My snail is a voracious eater so maybe she took care of it before I could tell.

The air stone is in the front part, not behind the black wall divider in the tank. It's on the side of the pump.

Welcome and nice tank! I have the flex 15g and I enjoy it. Right now it has one snail, three shrimp and 5-6 Pristella Tetras. A dwarf gourami or Betta is on my list as well for my centerpiece fish. Looking forward to more pics and updates about your tank!

I did check the back compartments. Only have the one snail but it is a large efficient one, lol. I did also check all around the tank and on the ground, no little bodies found. No cat but do have a dog so I guess that is still a possible theory.

Has anyone ever lost a fish in a tank and had no idea where it went? I have a small Fluval 15gal tank and I had 6 tetras yesterday now only 5. I have searched high and low but there really aren't many places to hide. My only guess is he went up in the bonsai tree and got stuck. Which is also where I think my three amano shrimp hide because I see them every now and then. Wondering now if I should remove the bonsai and try to look inside so I don't have a dead fish decaying in the tank. But it's growing so well I don't want to disturb it or the shrimp inside.🤷‍♀️

I love we also get to listen to Bluey in the background! 😂
