A white film since adding fish/frogbit
Fresh replied to Fresh's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
Hope to see it gone in the next week after I do another water change. -
A white film since adding fish/frogbit
Fresh replied to Fresh's topic in Plants, Algae, and Fertilizers
Not at the time this began. It's still there even after a water change but more minimal -
The wisteria is in the background, sprite is the one up front. Did the store mislabel them? I'd be surprised as it is a well known spot but maybe the person picked the wrong one
-
The one closest to the glass was labeled sprite when I bought it. The leaves seem too wide to be wisteria?
-
Awesome. Thanks! They're cool lil fish
-
I take it the node is the area where the leaves grow out?
-
What's the proper way to trim them? Mine is out of control and is even bending so I wonder if that's from the current or it being too long?

It's very light but you can see it. Even look at the one frogbit, it has a white coating on the part that's exposed? -
A white film since adding fish/frogbit

Complete opposite actually, my filter is overpowered for the tank I have so I had to turn down the flow but it's still moving. I'll take one when I get home -
Last Tuesday I received my order of fish & then the day after I received Frogbit and now there's a white film on the surface. My guess is it's from the Frogbit, if so what would it be?

I just got 3 blue ram's & they are cool lil fishes.

Interesting thing happened after removing black background
Fresh replied to Fresh's topic in General Discussion
I doubt I'll be putting it back on. I liked it more when I had piranhas but not so much with this setup -
Eventually I will be getting a spray bar but I was able to turn down the flow. It's been noticeable so we will see how it goes now
-
I was never really sold on the black background I had added last week so I just removed it & almost immediately some of the fish started exploring the back glass which basically no fish has yet since getting them Tuesday. It's a 27g cube so I feel like this is a better move so they explore the rest of the tank
-
I have black rasboras and so far no issue. They've been attacking the food
-
Looks a lot more fitting too. Would look great with the rest of the parts

This one's real nice!

I just realized the on/off valve is actually the flow control valve 🙈. I did a search and came across some articles talking about it, I feel like an idiot lol. I will set it halfway when I get home and see how it goes. I might still get the sponge filter though Thanks!
-
I knew it. Unfortunately there's no adjustment. The filter came with the tank and I believe the previous owner had a saltwater setup which explains the high output. I know piranha's benefit the most with a high output but this is my first community tank so I did suspect 11x was too much from the beginning I have been thinking about adding a sponge filter to the inlet though. Not sure what I can do with the outlet, maybe add some holes? Thanks

I'm not sure why the image uploads upside down.

I have a good amount of plants/decor but it doesn't seem like it has an affect on the current imo. I think the issue is the square design so there's no real dead spot. With a rectangle footprint I feel like dead spots are easily attained. The fish don't seem bothered but it does look like they're constantly swimming
-
Cool. thanks. Just wasn't sure as this is my first time having them I am concerned with the current though, not sure if they like it or if they're actually struggling. The filtration turnover rate is 11x
-
I bought one of the value packs from liveaquaria.com and it came with 3 cory's. It's been a short time but they're acting pretty wild by swimming fast up & down on the front glass. All the one's I've seen in the stores just chill out at the bottom. I do feel like the current is too much in my tank as I have a Fluval 306 in a 27g cube tank so I wonder if that's the issue?

Root tabs in a already planted tank
Fresh replied to Anthony Rodriguez's topic in General Discussion
I've learned myself on here to just use them for the plants that actually need them. I wasted a couple tabs on the wisteria's since they're not root grown
