  1. Shrimps always drip (especially Caridina). Other fish Pop & Drop after 30 minutes or so in the closed bag in the tank for the temp to get even.
  2. I have cory's in the tank with my culled shrimp. Population in that tank is thriving so it wouldn't be to much of a problem. I've had the blues on both dark and white substrate. They get a bit lighter on the white substrate but pop out more then on dark substrate. So i wouldn't change to much on the tank now. Because your current gravel is kind of bigger, small darker gravel will probably sink underneath it anyway. Filter with intake filter should be fine. Don't need a lot of filtering with all those plants and shrimps. Biggest thing to watch for is that you don't overfeed. Tank only has as much waste as you put in. When i start a new tank with 10/15 shrimps mostly i only feed once or twice a week a really small portion. If the shrimps go nuts on the food, add a little bit more next time. If they don't care to much they have enough food already. You could remove the remaining food after 1 or 2 hours to keep the tank cleaner.
  3. Never had real problems with shrimps and betta's. They probably will eat some of the small once. But in both betta tanks i still had a thriving shrimp population.
  4. I keep confusing my albino cory's for a death betta. Gives me a heart attack at least once a week...
  5. So because you didn't read the instructions/manual before use, nobody should be using the product? 🤪
  6. My shrimp tanks are on top of a closet. Exactly on my eye level. Perfect to watch, less perfect for maintenance 😉. Lower aquariums i use my girlfriends meditation cushion. 😆
  7. Watch a lot of video's, try a lot of different stuff and don't be afraid to fail. I got 6 aquariums and a palladarium and still everything is trial and error. Sometimes a scape is really great, some others are big fails. You will also learn what works for you in terms of rocks, wood or types of plants. Good thing is that you can re-use most of the stuff, so a new look doesn't have to cost much everytime. Just know that you probably won't hit the jackpot in the first try. (Or you do and only find that out 3 aquascapes later 😉 )
  8. The man is a machine... Still going strong after 3 days non-stop talking with fans and standing in a booth...
  9. Albino in general not the way you want to go? I love my albino Cory's in my tanned water tank with black substrate.
  10. As long as you use the right glue, no fish will be harmed. Or isn't that your question?
  11. My girlfriend didn't allow me to buy a 'car'. They had another great one on the other side of the room (real car) with an aquarium in the back. To bad I didn't take a picture. Didn't leave empty handed though. Got some new Harlequin rasbora's, beautifull male Beta and new group of Caradina Blue Shadow Mosura shrimp.
  12. I can relate to wanting to know a lot of information about a fish you want to get. But with betta's I found the best way to make a decision about the fish to get is just look at a lot of fish in real life. They are all so different from each other. Not only the color and shape, but they also all have their own personality.
  13. Had a great time at Vivarium and great to see @Coryand Chris Lukhaup there.
  14. It's not allowed to trade or sell live animals on Facebook either. (Although it happens a lot. Most of the time by avoiding the words selling, buying or trading).
  15. Welcome Anita, Already started with the tank? I started the hobby again 2 years ago and Aquarium Co Op has been a great place for information for me! Couple of things to keep in mind that are a bit different in The Netherlands compared to the US. - We are not allowed to use the medicines for fish they use in the States. So the 'Med trio' Cory is talking about a lot is not an option for us. Haven't found a great option yet. So it's even more important to start with healthy fish. I found that the quality of the fish in the small general petstores and for example the Hornbach are mostly in bad condition. It's often better to go to a specialized fish store (that for examples quarantines the fish themselfes as well). - Hornbach is a great place to buy other aquarium related stuff like aquariums, materials or hardscape. They have the well known brands but most of the time a bit cheaper then other places. I guess the 'always the lowest price' is also on the aquarium stuff. - Our tap water is one of the best in the world and without chlorine. We don't have to use the dechlorinater stuff they use in all the english videos. Just tapwater is fine for the fish. The amount of KH en GH is different in every area. So you might want to test that to see what plants/fish will work with your water. Can't wait to see some pictures of the tank getting ready!
  16. I feel left out because i don't live in a state. So i just act like i don't know any better and you asked what country people are from. I'm from The Netherlands, Europe 😜
  17. Printed 2 posters of 'The Shrimp King' (one from the Co-op site and one from Dennerle) as said in the last Member Live stream. @Coryasked to show the result on the forum but i think it doesn't show the real result with my bad camera. The close up shows the quality a bit better i guess. Really sharp. Can't help you with a (cheap) company because i'm from Europe myself. Paid about $24 for the 2 posters total at European A1 size. Guess thats called "Double Demy" in the US? Plan is to put the posters in a frame to go on the wall of the 'Fishroom'. To bad the fishroom itself is probably another year away because we are still in the middle of renovating our home.
  18. I did add a new 'feeding corner' (don't know the english name for it) 1,5 week before the crash. So i did disturb a part of the substrate. Wasn't a big area tho, which would mean you can't really vacuum the gravel without a spike. Smell was really strong eventhough i couldn't messure the ammonia. Smell was still strong after a 80% water change. But good to hear that the smell could be ammonia. Last shrimps died the day after. So emptied the whole tank today and will start over with this tank soon i guess...
  19. My betta and shrimps are fine together. He might take a newborn shrimp here and there, but doesn't seem to bother the adults. Just make sure the shrimps have enough space to hide if they feel like it. Love the looks of Karl. Especially the tail is beautifull!
  20. Hey all, Came home to an Shrimp massacre today. In one of my shrimp tanks (left one on the picture) 7 out of the 10 Caridina Blue Bolt shrimps died, the last 3 are barely moving. The aquarium itself has a strange chemical (almost chlorine) smell to it what it didn't have before. Thank has been running since begin november, shrimps added mid december. Except for 1 death shrimp couple days after adding them never had any other problems with the tank. Water tested good all the time and even with the funny smell and death fish i can't see anything strange in the numbers from the tests. Did it both with a drip test as with a strip (because i didn't trust the first results. Tds 149 (normal between 130-140) Ph 6,0 Kh 0,0 Gh 6 No2 0,0 No3 0,0 Nh3 0,0-0,5 Po4 0,0 Aquarium is filled with reversed osmosis water with some GH+ and ADA Amazonia 2 substrate to get the PH lower and in balance. Someone that knows what could have caused the deaths and the strange smell to the water?
  21. Not sure about the steeds from Amazon, but heard a lot of stories about the ones sold on Ali Express or other Chinese cheap sites. Most of the plants in those seed packs aren't real aqua plants. So they are doing fine the first week, but die if they stay under water for to long. Which gives a lot of problems because of all the rotting materials. For the cutting part. I've got a shrimp tank with Monte Carlo. Just be careful when cutting and move around with the scissor before actually making the cut and you will be fine. Most annoying thing I have Most of the time is the shrimps climbing on the scissor out of curiosity.
  22. Here they don't use chlorine or any other toxic stuff in the water, so no problem with using tap water to clean the sponge. But still i try to do it in aquarium most of the time, just so i don't waste to much water. Prefer using the tap water to refill the aquarium after taking some out for the cleaning of the filter. Also i got the feeling i use less water in total this way, because you don't have the constant running water.
  23. Nitrates, if not from fertilizer, comes from waste. So to much rotting food, rotting plants, or dead animals in your aquarium. Hoe much and how often do you feed? I follow @ARMYVET that this might be the problem.
