  1. I got a pair of electric blue rams with the hope that they'd breed. They were in their own heavily planned tank and one of them was thriving and one was always small and never seemed to grow. I saw him eating and the water parameters were always great and stable. I've had them for a year. The little one randomly died so now I just have one. I was wondering if there's anything else I can put in there with him. I worry he'd terrorise a new baby blue ram. He's quite fiesty.
  2. Oh! That sucks! I've only had one shrimp jump/escape and that was sad enough. Would you think it would be risky if it was a male (more weighed down?🤷🏻‍♀️) The tank has floaters all over the top most of the time and Val all across the top too... Oh, and water wisteria. I was going to have a feeding ring.
  3. I'm not toooo worried about shrimp population growth now, my six has become hundreds and I have little colonies in three tanks at the mo. However.. the tanks the Betta(s) were going to go in have no lids 😬 and are always filled as high as I can have em. I can't decide if I got a Betta that ate them all if that's nature doing it's thing or if I did wrong by my shrimp 🤷🏻‍♀️
  4. @Streetwisethat's amazing! So I could still have my Betta? (Or 3!?) And is it hit and miss if the Betta will annihilate my shrimp?
  5. Would it shock my shrimp if i removed the heater now they're used to it? I always imagined shrimp and snails only, and I'd certainly appreciate less evaporation from that tank!
  6. My corys go crazy for Sera sinking wafers. Like others I feed everyone slow sinking food (i have sera pellets and the baby sera version and a variety of frozen foods) and while they're distracted i use the long angled tweezers to hide the wafers in all their caves. I have bold and fat corys that hoover up as much as they can outside before going in the caves for their main course! I just adore corys!😄
  7. Thank you. I'll move her as soon as I can catch her 😄
  8. I've been thinking about what to do with him, re passing on his cute, but funky genetics. My other tanks are 4 nanos (one with shrimp, two just heavily planted waiting for a special betta) and my cycled quarantine tank that I've never used yet) and a 20 gal with my two electric blue rams. I don't want him to be lonely, Hes super sociable.
  9. He does have a name, I should have used it. He's called Merrick 😂
  10. Hi! I have this little Cory, he was born in my tank and all of his may brothers and sisters are totally normal. This little guy, though.... He's always has a funny shaped head. I didn't expect him to live but he's thriving. He's about 2" long now and seems as healthy and active as can be. Any idea what's up with him? I definitely don't want to cull him, he doesn't seem like he's suffering at all. These Cory's are my first fish babies and I love them all!😂 Everyone else in the tank is super happy and breading. I even had a baby Oto 😃
  11. Thank you.. that was my instinct too. I was just hoping they were so peaceful it wouldn't be an issue. i was just worried about ending up with a million shrimplets in there super quickly. It going to be fun trying to catch her in this tank! I Have a lovely tank that would be perfect for her and the babies but its unheated... but its in the living room which is always around 21c 70f.. is this too cold?
  12. Hi Everyone.. I've got a heavily planted nano tank with 6 red cherry shrimp. Because they came from my other colony I picked one female and 5 male. They've been there a couple of months happily bumbling about doing their thing. Today noticed the female is very berried... then one of the males 'attacked' her! he got her on her back and it looked like he 'bit' her eggs! she hid and he chased her and did it again. Do you think I need to rescue her? or was he just in the mood and didn't realise she was already pregnant? I could put in another female that's almost ready
  13. Thank you 😊 that tall green plant is Nymphoides hydrophylla 'Taiwan' it was a tissue culture and really took off! I love it. I'll look into harlequin rasboras.. I really like them.
  14. I forgot to mention.. there's three caves and lots of spiderwood back there, behind the plants.
  15. Hi all. I set up a new aquarium a few months ago, with a view to getting rams.. they've been in for about a month now and have settled in really well. I was hoping this would be a little breeding project, and I think I have a male and female. Anyway... I was wondering if I should have some dither fish to help? I have no idea who'd suit my tank.. William, the definite male is pretty fiesty! The tank is 20 gal, 75lt square. Really stable parameters. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites 20-40 nitrate. pH 7.5. but it is warm.. 83°f/28°c Any ideas would be gratefully received 😊
  16. Great work @Aubrey That's exactly what it is. Thank you so much And these are fine to be in there? As cute as that little guy is in your video, I do hope they're some free live food!
  17. They do indeed.. I have three Julii and three Sterbai and they've all been doing the mating behaviour. Gorgeous Corys!
  18. Ooh.. thank you.. they're definitely more fast moving slug, than out of control water snake (awesome descriptions btw) but it's more like a leech with that 'stretch and contract' movement. I'll have a look at nematodes. Thanks again
  19. Hey all.. I'm hoping someone could help me identify the worm type things that have appeared in my tank... Theres quite a lot of them on the glass. They're tiny, 2mm long and a bit thicker than hair but not by much. You cant really see detail on my pic but they're long and thin.. have a end that's definitely the head end.. the move by contracting and stretching and they have a thicker section in the middle. My tank is a 27 gal tall 6 neon, 6 cherry shrimp, 6 Cory's and at least 6 cory fry. All inhabitants went in two weeks ago and the fish shop said they all been quarantined for the last month to 6 weeks. Any help is greatly appreciated
  20. They're either Sterbai or Julii.. I think Julli because there was a fat one. Theyce all been doing the mating type behaviour though. It's super exciting. I've only had them 2 weeks today
  21. Here's my first ever fry. So far I've spotted 6 at the same time. I was beyond excited 😁
