  1. I'm not sure, but I will definitely test my tap water right now. I do have Seachem Prime so I'll be using that right now. Thank you for that. When would I do another water change? I don't want them to get hurt or die. =\
  2. So I am a bit frustrated. I am new to the Hobby after getting my first fist in October 2019 and really venturing into it mid 2020. I've had no water parameter issues for a loooooooong time. I tend to test my water parameters a day after I have done my water changes. I did nothing new this time around and my Ammonia and Nitrate are horribly up there. My poor fish! Idk what to do. Do I change the water again? What can I add? I'm so frustrated with myself for not knowing enough of what to do to be a better person to my fish. It doesn't help that my last Platy doesn't look to well. I isolated her and did quarantine with Maracyn and Maracyn 2 and she was getting better. Now she looks sunken in and is just in the bottom of the little quarantine basket. I want to pull my hair. Anyways here are the pictures of my water parameters in my tanks. This first one is my 20 gallon. My ammonia is always at 0 and my nitrates are usually around the 20 ppm mark. Did water change yesterday and cleaned filter which I do every other week. This tank has live plants. I'm so surprised about these readings as this has always been my "perfect" tank. =\ This second picture is my 10 gallon tank. Ammonia is at and my nitrates tend to be around the 10ppm. I haven't had a high reading like this in months! I don't want to lose my buddies. 😞 This tank I did a water change yesterday and it only has two live plants. Ugh. I understand now when people say they've left the hobby because it's so stressful. It's always been such a stress reducer for me and so calming. Has gotten me through lows in the pandemic but today I'm just so frustrated. Thank you for reading this post that is all over the place.
  3. I'm a Child Support Officer. 🙂 Currently going to school to learn ASL to be an interpreter!
  4. How many hours would you suggest? I have a 20 gallon and the lights are on for 9 hours. I have had that since August? Any suggestions or advice is appreciated! I also use Easy Green once a week.
  5. I am actually currently trying to fight off the algae on the stems. It is so annoying! I need to look up how to trim or I guess keep up with the care of the plant. I'm glad you were able to get the algae under control!
  6. Oh no! I have plants, nerite snails, and amano shrimps. I reside in Southern California. I'll look up to see where I can find Euthromycin. Thank you so much!
  7. Help! I began treating my 20 gallon with Maracyn on Friday and I only have for today. Tomorrow is the fifth and last day, but what can I do? I cannot find any LFS with Maracyn in stock. Amazon doesn’t have it. Online it’s just shipping with arrival date of Jan 22. Suggestions?
  8. Thank you very much! I put a root tab in so we shall see how it goes!
  9. I did a bit more research since I needed to plant it before the night ends. I left the Amazon Sword in the pot and planted the Moneywort in the substrate. I hope I did the right decision. Hopefully they don't die. 🙂
  10. I purchased some plants last week and got them today in the mail! Thank you AquariumCoop! I was reading the link on how to plant plants from the website but couldn’t find the answer to my question. I got 2 Monte Carlo 1 Amazon Sword 1 Moneywort 1 Water Sprite 1 planter So I planted the Monte Carlos in the pot like the website suggested. I also planted the Water Sprite by removing it from the basket and planting it in the substrate with a weight thingy. My question is, what should I plant in the planter... Amazon Sword or Moneywort? Thank you in advance!
  11. Update. I was able to find a home for the betta to be by himself. 🙂 After reading the Danio comment I became concerned because he seemed like a sweetheart. I did the finger test that I read up there and he was more curious about it and would just swim up to it. Lol Thank you all!
  12. Thank you very much! I’ll try that out tomorrow!! Thank you thank you!
  13. I am thinking of rescuing a male betta from someone who may be getting rid of it. I have a 20 gallon with 3 platys, 4 long finned zebra Danio, 1 short finned zebra Danio, 3 Nerite snails and 3 amano shrimp. Will he be okay there? I cannot get another tank. I feel bad for the little guy. 😞
  14. Is there anything I can do to help her shed her shell? I see it’s slowly starting to come off but it’s stuck.
  15. Thank you so much! I was guessing Grupert was a female but wanted to make sure. My 5 year old named her Grupert. Lol
  16. I also see that she hasn’t shedded her shell correctly. It’s like still attached to her. Almost a bit stuck? 😞
  17. GH is 300 kH is 120 It has always been like that since the beginning. Which was in June 2020.
  18. I noticed this about two days ago. This is one of my biggest Amano shrimp. The other large one is beginning to get an orange tail. Is it a failed attempt to molt? Is she going to die? They were both full of eggs the past few weeks.
  19. Is Grupert a male or female? Bristlenose Pleco. Thank you!
  20. Thank you everyone for your replies! I now know that I need to clean that. Definitely glad I asked because I honestly thought it was broken and useless.
  21. Just a tiny bit is above the substrate. If I need to uncover a bit more I'll do so.
  22. Is it growing okay? I was able to bury the bulb two days ago. Prior to that it was just sitting on the eco-complete substrate. 🙂 Please let me know if I did good or bad. Thanks!
  23. OH MY GOSH! It worked!!!!! It was so dirty too. LOL Thank you so much!!! I was hesitant to ask, but I am glad I did. Thank you so much!
  24. No, I have not. Is it the plastic tube? Do I just pull the tube out and clean it?
