  1. Made 150 poops already 😂 We have good energy today and we found our hide. Use it like this, right? I didn’t notice any bites out of the squash I left overnight, but we rasped on the wood and we like Soilent green Repashy. (We are very wiggly for our Kodak moments..) Oh ok, maybe this is how this works. White tail 🤍 Now I did notice a loooong split in the tail. Hard to tell from web images if that is normal. Using the web image, I will draw the split. If not the norm I plan to add catappa leaves. Also we picked out our Christmas tree and it is being inspected. On staff is a professional inspector, going over every detail for quality assurance. We learned years ago about the Christmas tree bags. You put it under the tree and it will be hidden by a tree skirt. End of season, remove base and pull bag up to enclose the tree. No needles everywhere in the home; only some around this area from movement of the tree. Time for lights!
  2. New kid, settling into quarantine. Has a hide, mopani, and some yellow squash. Has white tipped fins! I learned the parents do too. Too young for the bristles! Can’t wait to see them later. (Hide added after video taken)
  3. Agreed! And such personality. The big box store was selling them as “ruby clown cichlids” for some reason (?) @anitstuk
  4. I would highly suggest planting the micro sword in a clump; the pot is a good idea (per Cory) if planting in lightweight substrate such as eco complete. In my situation, I have pool filter sand which holds it well. After awhile it will make runners. The runners will lead to new plants that may want to float. Simply tack down the runners with plant weights and guide the micro swords the direction you’d like them to go. This photo shows one or two of the micro sword plants that have grown from a runner.
  5. Walstad jar update. Flowers every single week. I don’t do anything to it except the occasional top off using some tank water. Oh, I did take out the floaters. Tops were yellowing and bottoms were soggy. Soggy Bottom Boys.. looool 🎶
  6. Thanks @Odd Duck, I know you’re busy. His energy level has been good. Wall surfing, but good. Still hasn’t eaten since I started the deworming treatment. Actually, not true. When I did the 50% water change, then he did eat. Then I put the prazi in, and he stopped again. That was 11/27. So I guess we head toward kanamycin; that’s the one I have in the fish med cabinet. How long of a rest between Prazi & kana?
  7. Worm cultures doing quite well. It has not even been one week since I got the grindals and they already ate the cat food they came with and another cat food. So I added a third yesterday, and today they are all over it again. The white worms are doing great too. Many are burrowed and active.
  8. Fed some foods this morning. Spike was energetically wall surfing; lots of butt wiggles. He saw his own reflection and was just so enthusiastic about it, utilizing all levels of the tank. While I hate wall surfing and usually try to cover the wall (one side is already covered due to same issue) I just let him be. He was hiding in the log the last day or two, and I was just glad to see him having a good time with "the other fish" he thought he was socializing with. LOL Unfortunately too busy socializing with said fish to notice any of the food. Dropped Repashy in again before leaving so he has things to graze on. I hope he does. The fluctuations of the natural light coming into the room should reduce glare intermittently throughout the day.
  9. So see if he will eat after the 5 week course has been completed? Seems like a long time without food, but maybe that’s ok for a fish. Spike was out front & center today. I offered levamisole-garlic food. He didn’t eat it in front of me but may have eaten some while I was getting ready for work. Then again it could have been eaten by the tetras. Left fresh Repashy in there during the day. Removed remainder at night.
  10. I like Aqueon forge. It has two sizes. Each size can accommodate a smaller tank on the bottom. The ones I have hold a 10g and a 5.5g. There is a stand one size up from that. For larger tanks, some folks are using garage shelves. But they need a little decor or something to look nice inside the home. Maybe wrap vines around the tall beams. There is a panel above the bottom tank that flips up for maintenance. It is flipped up in the photo.
  11. Spike is on a hunger strike I guess. Rejected live worms and levamisole garlic food yesterday. I made it snow in the tank today with frozen brine shrimp. Spike had no interest, even when a brine shrimp floated down onto his head. He just swam away. I sucked most of it back out. Every time this happens I add prepared Repashy and then go to work, hoping he eats some of it while I’m gone. I had also added powdered Repashy to the tank so he’d get nutrients while sand sifting, but I haven’t seen him sift the last 2 days. I did see him flash against the sand once this morning. The tetras in his tank are having a banquet fit for a king.
  12. Idk seems I always have devices with big power packs that cover other outlets on power strips 😕 Although I guess the power blocks from nano pumps would not be needed if I had usb ports like @Guppysnail’s power strip. I think I may have one of those already. Those photos were from the yesterday mess, which I sorted through
  13. I went to war with my wiring, with a new weapon: However I lost, and both of these are being returned. These are hard to plug into and remove plugs from. I can’t seeing myself giving a fierce tug with my hand behind a floor tank. It just seems like it could be a disaster. I made a big mess of the wiring in the process of trying this out and reverting back. I resorted to 2 smaller power strips and some garden ties to kind of tidy things. (Still have the cyber power with outlets pretty full plus a power strip plugged into that, plus all the wall outlets used up.. The process was pretty annoying; one has to be a contortionist to be crawling around and reaching behind tanks to do the things. But anyway.. looks pretty decent now. A bit satisfying. The last thing is to put some kind of sound absorbing stuff under the air pumps. I wonder if a piece of yoga mat would work.
  14. Spike showed stress when I checked on him last night so I did the 50% water change early. He had 7 hours of expel-P yesterday. This afternoon I dosed the PraziPro. He doesn’t seem to mind the Prazi.
  15. I’ve got a new fish coming, and I just now learned the fish may* be coming from a 6.5 pH, and my tap water is a 7.5. The fish is already in transit. Any advice? *per strips. Liquid test will be done on source water tomorrow to confirm. My tank: Amm 0 Nitrite 0 Nitrate 5 PH 7.5 gH 150 kH 180
  16. Maracyn almost always crashes my cycle. Not immediately but like halfway through the course. Paracleanse does not. Just test daily, have some Seachem Prime dechlorinator on hand. Water change with the Prime to reduce ammonia and nitrite levels if any exist. Prime detoxifies ammonia and nitrite for 24 hrs. Also if you can pick up a good bottled bacteria (ie: Fritz Zyme 7), to rebuild your bacteria colony if/when necessary, that would be a good tool to have in your fish room.
