    Septicemia?

It’s near impossible to tell in his body, but I am noticing red on his tail fin where the is thinner. Is this septicemia? Or is it a trick of the light? Water params were all good when I checked them a few days ago. I will do a check again and update as soon as there is no one in my house delivering drywall. 😬
  2. I’d love to see it! My LFS just got in a puffer. He’s super cool.
  3. I’m sorry I’ve been absent with personal stuff. But Omgosh! Thank you @Isaac M for the encouragement, ideas, and photos! I LOVE the moss on the log idea. I just got some Java moss, so I might just give that a go! Have another 10 gallon that I’m going to be setting up for some guppy babies. But after that, I won’t have a chance to do much for about a week. Everyone is happy and healthy for now. thanks again!!! Your tanks are BEAUTIFUL!
  4. This is the second fish this has happened to in my daughter’s tank. I’m wondering if it’s swim bladder? Constipation? The area around his anus seems red and inflamed, but I’m not sure if that’s normal. This tank isn’t fully cycled yet, however, it’s been running for about 6 weeks. This fish was introduced last week.. water parameters: ph 8.0 ammonia .25 (I added prime) nitrites and nitrates 0 alkalinity 180 chlorine 0 i only have strips that test hardness, but they say it’s between 150 and 300 water temp 78-80
  5. Well, the problem is that my daughters betta is not doing well. Same thing that happened to the last one. Was great for about a week, then starts to decline, becomes lethargic, won’t eat. I checked parameters and the ph is high, (8.0) but it’s normal for here. The ammonia was at 0.25 so I put some prime in there. Tomorrow I’m doing a 50% water change and removing the substrate. <sigh> I feel awful that it’s always her tank. I’m going to try to remove all of her inhabitants and put them in a quarantine tank so I can focus on cleaning that one. If you look at the first picture, does that look like an ulcer to you?
  6. Someone on another forum said it looked like a scud. 🤬🤢 so I’ll be clearing out this tank as well.
  7. So I was taking my daughters ornaments out of her tank, and all of a sudden, I see this thing darting around. One of her shrimp was supposedly berried when we got them. Is this a bebe shrimplet? (Excuse all the junk floating around. Like I said, I just pulled a bunch of stuff out and her sand is going tomorrow.) link attached since it’s a vid.
  8. This is great! Exactly what I am wanting actually!!!
  9. Oh yes!!! The scuba diver will stay!! And the floating log. I’m not crazy about it, but my betta LOVE it. I’ve place and removed both that piece of black rock and the pink quartz from every tank so far. I like the rocks, just not in my tanks I guess!
  10. Awesome!!!! I will definitely look there!!! Sunday is cleaning / water change day. So I might just start with one tank then. Make it a project! Thank you!!!! (Getting excited now.)
  11. Oh, and sorry. That’s aqueon substrate, not fluval. And I’m not a fan now that I’m looking at it in the photo.
  12. Uhhh…..lol Well, I’d like my small 5 gallon to be a shrimp tank. Right now it’s holding guppies. I want them all to be planted, Natural scapes. I feel kind of limited with small tanks. I have a 10 gallon and a 40b that I can eventually do something with. I’d like the guppies to be in the 40. But my husband has claimed that tank. here are the three that I want to revamp. I want to take the swirly glass thing and the black thing with holes in it out of the third tank. I just got some guppy grass but I didn’t realize it was a floater 😬 no clue how to plant it. But it’s in Q right now anyway. I would like them all to be natural looking, but interesting and full. I’m having a hard time finding a carpet plant. And I’d like a bonsai in the 40g at least.
  13. I did not expect to love my snails and shrimp as much as I do! The snails make me laugh all the time. They like to bubble surf and then float over to the other side of the aquarium.
  14. So I’m seeing everyone’s tanks and I want to completely change almost all of my tanks. Have you ever done this? Is it worth it? Will it stress the inhabitants out too much? I’ve got 3 tanks that I’d like to change (the other is my daughter’s) 2 five gallon and 1 ten gallon. I kind of threw them together because I didn’t have much. In one, I have pea gravel. I hate it. Another I have blue gravel. I hate that too. The other I have white coarse sand and fluval substrate. I don’t mind the substrate, but I need to add flourish tabs (I’m nervous) and remove some of the plants that are not doing so well. (Thanks giant snail.) today I got some guppy grass. I’m going to quarantine it for 5 days and all that business. Also, I don’t know what to do with it! Agh! So many things!
  15. This is my GIANT mystery snail. I got it like that. I fed him a sandwich the other day and he wanted a bag of chips too. (JUST KIDDING) I also have a ramshorn that’s giant. They almost need their own tank altogether!
  16. Very cool! I’m new here as well! Looking forward to some snail knowledge!
  17. Me too!!! I made the happy mistake of going on Instagram and looking up aqua scraping and nano tanks. 😳 hook line and sinker!
  18. Hai! Marcy from Iowa here. I kept fish AGES ago. I had fancy gold fish in a 60 gallon aquarium. Then I kept koi and goldfish in a pond. A couple ponds actually. But I haven’t had fish for probably a good 10-12 years. Until now. And WOW! So much more information and help is available! I now have 2 10 gallon tanks (well, one is my daughter’s) for betta and 2 5 gallon tanks. And another 10 and 40 in storage. In one of the 5 gallons I have a couple little moscow blue guppies. It’s more of a holding tank. tanks: fluval spec v marineland 5 gallon portrait 2 top fin LED bubble wall 10 gallon tanks fish: 3 betta 2 Cory 5 oto cat 1 other cat I can’t recall the name neo shrimps (red, yellow, blue, orange, black) mystery snails chinese trap door nerite Snails blue moscow guppies live plants I can’t recall the names of moss balls anubias java fern i also have a family of humans, cats, dogs. hi!
