    Ack!

Thank you!! I don’t have a photo of one that I removed. I was too grossed out. Someone on another forum (the co-op page off FB) thought they looked like leeches. They sure behaved like leeches. If I find another I’ll take a photo of it. I have no gravel in my tank thankfully. So I’ll vacuum up what’s on the bottom. Thank you SO MUCH for your help!!!

    Ack!

thanks @Colu I will look for both of these today. I actually did remove three of them last night with a tweezers. But I’m worried about the rest of the tank. Like do I need to throw everything out? I don’t want eggs or pupae. And if I transfer my snails to another tank, can they take it with them? Or should I set up a separate tank for them? (I have an extra marine land 5 gallon) what a mess. I hate these things.

    Ack!

Thank you. Can I get fenbendazole at a LFS? Or do I need to go to the vet?

    Ack!

ALSO: I’ve been dosing prazipro. Two weeks in a row. Then again last Sunday and I’ll dose again this Sunday. I’m at my wits end. I can still see little worms wriggling around the bottom. Even with zero substrate.

    Ack!

I’m still having this problem. I have two juveniles left, one with one of these things hanging off his tail. ph 8 0 ammonia 0 nitrates nitrites 0-25 don’t have anything to test hardness. temp now is 76. I got a new tank with a heater and it doesn’t have number on the dial and I had apparently turned it up all the way and it was up to 100°. Anyway, it’s at 76 currently, but ideal is 78-80 tank size is 20g no substrate i can figure out what these are. they’re not eating, this one swims on the bottom, the other that has no visible worms swims at the top. I had 5 of these on Sunday. I’m down to 2.

    Ack!

Help! Whatever this is is killing off all of my life bearers! I noticed him dying off a couple days ago and I thought it might’ve been the assassin snail that’s in my tank but I don’t think it is. I’ve seen these in my substrate but I thought they were just Demetrious wormsI noticed him dying off a couple days ago and I thought it might’ve been the assassin snail that’s in my tank but I don’t think it is. I’ve seen these in my substrate but I thought they were just Demetrious worms or whatever they’re called. or whatever they’re called.
  7. Thank you!! I’m going to head over to the fish store today and see what they have. A friend of mine picked this up for me so I have no idea what happened between then and when it got to me. It wasn’t expensive, so if I have to trash it, it’s no big. I also have some hair grass that I have no idea what I’m going to do with.
  8. The spare tank I have is a marineland portrait. Won’t the water become stagnant?
  9. Good thing I just emptied out a 5 gallon huh? Filter? Sponge filter good enough?
  10. I bought it at my LFS. Who literally got it in like the day before. It hasn’t been hot here. But it has been chilly. I’ll get a pic of pieces and post.
  11. I just bought some of this “moss” and 1. It stinks. 2. It looks nothing like what I find anywhere else. 3. It literally looks like cooked chopped spinach. I mean, am I missing something?
  12. That’s actually exactly what I did. I tried to remove it and I didn’t realize it was telescopic. At least it’s not as noisy!
  13. Ugh! Thank goodness my daughter saw it! He was hiding under one of my lava rocks! I smushed it. I like dragon flies, but not in my fish tank!!!
  14. Is this what I think it is? And could it be why my fancy blue Moscow guppy’s tail is all chewed up? I also found the remnants of a small guppy near where it was at. I have removed the bug….I’m going to treat for fin rot. I can’t get a great picture of him.
  15. So if I’m reading these right, I can remove that black 90° tube and it will increase the flow into the sponge? I am ok with that. I really like that they’re on the side. I have a plethora of suction cups that I purchased. (Thanks Amazon) so I’m not worried about that. thanks everyone! ps. I think I found a dragonfly nymph in my tank! Posted on another topic.
  16. So I got these hang on the side sponge filters, but I’m not really convinced they do anything compared to my normal weighted sponge filters. All of my tanks are 10g and 5 g. So space is at a premium. Here are pictures of the one I have in now, and the ones I used to haves
  17. Wowza. I have only ordered fish/shrimp/snails online a couple of times. But both times they were packed beautifully, everything was healthy happy and alive. I ordered a betta fish from Texas, and he’s my healthiest and has a great personality. He arrived very alert and active. Same with the shrimp from a different online business. The snails of course were all closed up, but very quickly acclimated and are just fine. I would not write off all mail order suppliers. I would, however, use places that you learn of from other hobbyists. I’m so sorry that happened to you and your fish. I would have been livid.

    Septicemia?

Thank you!!! I was really getting kind of worried.

    Septicemia?

It’s near impossible to tell in his body, but I am noticing red on his tail fin where the is thinner. Is this septicemia? Or is it a trick of the light? Water params were all good when I checked them a few days ago. I will do a check again and update as soon as there is no one in my house delivering drywall. 😬
  20. I’d love to see it! My LFS just got in a puffer. He’s super cool.
  21. I’m sorry I’ve been absent with personal stuff. But Omgosh! Thank you @Isaac M for the encouragement, ideas, and photos! I LOVE the moss on the log idea. I just got some Java moss, so I might just give that a go! Have another 10 gallon that I’m going to be setting up for some guppy babies. But after that, I won’t have a chance to do much for about a week. Everyone is happy and healthy for now. thanks again!!! Your tanks are BEAUTIFUL!
  22. This is the second fish this has happened to in my daughter’s tank. I’m wondering if it’s swim bladder? Constipation? The area around his anus seems red and inflamed, but I’m not sure if that’s normal. This tank isn’t fully cycled yet, however, it’s been running for about 6 weeks. This fish was introduced last week.. water parameters: ph 8.0 ammonia .25 (I added prime) nitrites and nitrates 0 alkalinity 180 chlorine 0 i only have strips that test hardness, but they say it’s between 150 and 300 water temp 78-80
