You should have no problems using stainless steel in your aquariums. The main added element to make iron stainless is chromium. It is not toxic like copper can be. I have stainless machine screws attaching a light under hood in one of my tanks, that remain wet all the time. After two years there have been no ill effects. I think you are good.

Today I thinned out the guppy grass because it got too thick. Also it was full of hair algea. I was kind of concerned a baby barb could get tangled in it. So after I did that I was able to see eight fry darting around. Some were on the glass and rocks, others on plants. They are still quite small and hard to see. Here's a few snapshots I was able to get.

I did that once. I don't think you can undo it.

It doesn't look bad in the bubble, but over the span of a four foot tank that probably is out of level by 1/2 inch. I would go ahead and shim the stand.

His expression seems to be saying, "I can't believe I ate the whole thing".

Not record breaking, I admit.😁

Look what I found in here today. Five more baby barbs, hopefully more tomorrow. It's been just four days since they spawned, so I'll let you know what happens.

You will need to add a hob or canister filter to polish the water. The aco sponge filters are too porous to do that. I had the exact same setup in my 40b, two medium sponge filters, and the more time goes by the more debris in the water. I took out one of the two sponges and installed a canister (fluval 207) which cleared up the water nicely.

A plant density more along the lines of this will help you to make your fish more comfortable. My chilis used to never come out until I put them in this tank, alone, except for a hillstream loach. The dwarf barbs they used to live with were too active for the chilis taste. Perhaps yours are similar in nature.

My favorite piece of wood came from a dead dogwood tree in the back yard. The next favorite source is my pear tree. It drops an occasional dead branch which is great in the aquariums.

Yes, this is my 32g flex. I also have a 15 gallon with a bunch of chili rasbora. I was going to show the other barb yesterday but the forum was down. Here's a shot of two babies and some older siblings.

I thought so. Explains the pink sand.

Ya, definitely not cool for an expensive custom tank.

Oh, man. That's something unexpected. And I'm sure something you didn't ever want to see. Hopefully you can just push it back in place.

Thanks for the heads up about snails. I might thin out the snails' population before I try again, but I don't want a dedicated breeding tank. I have reached my limit on number of tanks, at least for now.

He eats frozen brine shrimp, blood worms, VibraBites, Bug Bites, and his very favorite, all the neocaradina shrimp in the tank. Yes he is. Definitely my most favorite fish ever. Thank you.
