  1. 2-3 degrees F isnt a big swing, 2-3 degrees C is. It could be getting too cold at night, What temp is the tank normally at? also what pH is the tank normally at? perhaps test the pH during the day, and then again before the sun/lights go up/on.
  2. Could be, I'm sure that would be disorienting at first. If I would guess it seems this little guy roughed himself up pretty good. Might just be 'limping' around, licking his wounds.
  3. I've medicated 3 times now for internal parasites. Paracleanse for a week, PraziPro for 5 days, and Fenbendazole for 3 now. Not sure what more I can do about that. Was going to try another round of Fenbendazole after a water change today.
  4. Yeah, at this point, I'd add the salt and wait, It might just be another injury. I don't know if I'd do anymore water changes unless you have something fouling the water. just let him recuperate.
  5. What are your parameters out of curiosity? This doesn't seem like fin rot in my opinion. He looks clearly stressed, also abdomen looks kind of swollen, but he might just be plump 🙂. You say this happens overnight, maybe something is happening overnight like temps are dropping too low, pH is dropping too low because plants are using up the O2. Also how long have you had this fish?
  6. Does it look like it could be a worm attached to the fish? Could be anchor worms. not sure the best way to treat that, but I've heard you can pull them off the fish manually.
  7. If it is parasites, it does sound like it would be gill flukes or something similar. I'd probably medicate just to be safe. I don't know much about Coppersafe, never used it, but there are things like Paracleanse that would work well for stuff like that too.
  8. I've had Bettas that had eye issues that looked similar and with good parameters it got better.
  9. I bought 9 rummy nose tetras from the local big box store and placed them in quarantine and medicated with the Trio. These guys came in rough. Skinny, sickly, and just weak. 4 of them died before the next morning, which honestly didn't surprise me that much and they started showing signs of ich. The remaining 5 were doing better with the meds, the IchX did the job and everyone was looking physically better. Immediately when I brought them in I noticed that none of them would eat flake/dried foods, so I switched to frozen foods. This leads me to believe the might've been wild caught. Everyone started eating the frozen foods, or so I thought. after a week or so, I noticed one fish slowly wasting away, getting real skinny, when fed, he will suck the food in his mouth, roll it around and spit it out. He darts around mouthing and spitting out seemingly everything, everyone else just eats it. I figured I'd treat with some PraziPro, let that run for another 5 days. Still wasting away. I'm treating with a dog deworming now (fenbendazole) at ~100mg/ten gallons. Its been 2 days, and no real change. Anyone have experience with this and treated successfully? I'm kinda figuring this guy is a goner but trying to give him a chance.
  10. Definitely seems like a swim bladder issue, I had a Cory that had this issue. I put him into a quarantine tank, and medicated it just to be safe. I treated for internal parasites and just a general bacteria infection (2 of the 3 med trio). My fish seemed to have an actual injury or maybe it just took a while to come back. He swam like that for almost 2 months and eventually got better. I kept him in a small 10g tank with nothing in it except the sponge filter. After medicating once I just kept the water clean, and eventually re-medicated a few weeks later just to be sure. When they swim like that it's hard for them to get food, and also easy for them to injury themselves further. So a bare bottom tank allowed the fish to struggle in food.
  11. If what you have been doing has been working, i'd keep doing that. and observe. It looks like it was some internal issue, perhaps a failed birth or injury or both?! But if the fish looks like its improving with what you have done/did, then keeps going with that.
  12. This fish is in a plastic bin? What kind of bin is this? Most plastics leech chemicals into the water unless its food grade. Might be irritating gills/scales? Idk. it might be a parasite as well, but you just moved this guy, so he might just be freaked out by the whole thing, might be the plastic in the bin? Maybe just observe for another day or so and do a small water change? I'm always weary of jumping straight to chemicals after making a huge amount of changes. Stress kills fish faster than most diseases in my experience.
  13. If it seems like it was damaged in the shuffle, I wouldn't do much of anything except make sure that the water is clean. If you changed the water after you re-scaped then maybe a little salt couldn't hurt, but I'd worry that changing things too much is just gonna stress the fish. He's probably cautious because you just rearranged his living space. In my opinion I'd keep an eye on it and make sure water parameters aren't getting bad.
  14. Sounds like you have hard water with high pH. In my opinion, the nitrates are nothing to worry about at that level out of the faucet. You say you're planning on keeping shrimp, and if you should use reverse osmosis or not, that really depends on what shrimp you plan on keeping. most neocaridina shrimp do great in hard water, and most caridina shrimp do better in softer waters.
