Fish Folk
Nerms, I want to ask for a show of fins: Did any of your fish spawn, lay eggs, or drop fry between January 26 and Jan 31?? I am just curious. We find that a full moon (often combined with a water change) seems to mark off spawning sessions in our fishroom. Maybe it's all in my head . . . but it _seems_ far too common to ignore.
Tory
Something hatched in my tank tonight that I have no idea what it is lol some kind of hitchhiker from a plant from my LFS I'm assuming.
CT_
Could be observation bias too. Like nurses observing higher than usual birth rates during a full moon. It would be cool though if they could sense the moon from indoors. Don't forget to @ me when you need a wet blanket! 1
Andy's Fish Den
I did a some water changes last weekend because we had a front come through last Sunday and Monday, and I got eggs from Aspidoras spilotus, Cory weitzmani and Cory venezuelanus. Unfortunately, the venezuelanus ones might not have been fertile, they all fungused over the next day, but they are still young fish.
Maggie
To my harlequin rasboras and dwarf emerald danios, every day is full moon day!
Daniel
My fish seemed to think the first 3 weeks of January were a full moon. 😊 1
Fish Folk
Going forward, let us call this approach to spawning fish #moonifesting Cause maybe... just maybe... 🌕🤩
Hobbit
My honeys hatched a set of fry then! But they’d started laying eggs on Jan 17 and once they get going they don’t really stop. 😄
Squeegee79
So....sort of. I purchase 13 roughly 1" Neon Dwarf Rainbows 7 days ago. After day 2, every morning when I turn the light on the males are all ready to go. I think the females are not big enough to be interested though. I haven't seen any actual eggs anyway. ColBud
My angles laid eggs on Monday the 25th I believe it was. The eggs didn’t do well they all turned white and got fungus. I need a better place for them to spawn like a slate. Edited January 29, 2021 by ColBud
Ben_RF
I don't know 😉 The only thing in my collection that gets pretty randy are my African Dwarf Frogs. They were definitely hugging and holding on tight with each during this period, but not sure if more than normal. Anyhow already got enough tadpoles to worry about at the moment. 😉
StevesFishTanks
Had eggs all over the glass on several cory tanks this morning. I am on daily auto water. Pinellas park florida. It also poured down rain randomly for about an hour a day or so ago first time in a while. Edit. Just found this really cool site while trying to see when it actually rained. https://www.timeanddate.com/weather/@z-us-33781/historic Edited January 30, 2021 by s1_

Lots of calling and embracing activity compared to their normal frogginess. My guppies and platys, on the other hand, do not show any lunar cycle preference for their reproductive shenanigans. Larrimore
Did a water change in the mbuna tank on the 25th. Three females now holding eggs. Don’t know if the full moon had anything to do with but the water change definitely did.
