paarkrosis
Joking….perhaps. I already have 5 tanks and I just got back into fishkeeping back in August with a betta named Rascal. I’m currently on here because lately Rascal hasn’t been acting himself at all and it’s worrying me, but that’s something I’ll have to start another thread on. Anyways, I have 2- 10gals, 2 - 5 gals & a 29gal tank. Edited December 17, 2021 by paarkrosis

I finally got around to making a post about him in the disease section. Right now it’s a lot of troubleshooting pretty much. Torrey
Rascal flaring for the camera, he's feisty! Welcome to the forum, and I'll go look for your other thread.

Welcome to the forum, and I'll go look for your other thread. Yeah, he’s always been like that until recently. He would follow as you walked by the tank and if you stopped to look at him, he’d flare. But I appreciate any help. Here’s the link to it for the ease.

I hope Rascal will be alright, I am also coming off a big scare with the tank my betta is in, so I know how stressful it can be! Love the flare lol. paarkrosis
no idea why everything uploaded upside down, but I’m not gonna try to figure it out. Karl settled into the tank last night. Do you think I could get away with cherry shrimp or would he murder them?
Remi de Groot
My betta and shrimps are fine together. He might take a newborn shrimp here and there, but doesn't seem to bother the adults. Just make sure the shrimps have enough space to hide if they feel like it. Love the looks of Karl. Especially the tail is beautifull!
paarkrosis
I went to petco last night for some plants and this guy was too ugly to pass up. I had to get him to balance things out due to Karl being so pretty. His name is Feo which means “ugly” in spanish. He’s a halfmoon king betta. Didn’t say anything about his coloration, though.

I bet Feo's going to change colors once he's settled in! I had a King betta from Petco for 2 yrs. He was my absolute favorite betta. Just a big gentle giant. Karl settled into the tank last night. Do you think I could get away with cherry shrimp or would he murder them? Karl is quite handsome! I got back into the hobby last August also - have 2 5s, a 2,5, and a new 3gal QT setup. About shrimp and bettas. I hear it can work, but it was disastrous for me. I had a betta (agile plakats) in both of my 5 gal setups, one really mellow one and one fiesty one. The mellow one seemed like a great candidate for shrimp, especially since he was already fine with his chili rasbora roommates, which are quite small. Got in an order of 10 neocaradinas.... within the space of a couple of hours, he killed half of them. You could see actual bites out of them, but not eaten. He just killed them as a prey instinct. I had to move them in a rush into my QT tank, where 4 of the remaining 5 died within a day from stress and probably PH shock. I read and read and read on the combo, seeming to find about an even amount of yes and no, but wanting them so much decided to listen to the "yes". Maybe in a larger tank like a 15 or larger they would have done better. I still have my one survivor who is now a shrimplet machine - I kept her in the QT setup (the 2.5) and ordered more "skittles". 4 months later I am almost overrun with them and am starting to move older juvies into other tanks.... just not the one with (Steve) McQueen, Shrimp Hunter. Patrick_G
Wow, Karl is a stunner, and a good price too. In our area he would cost close to $50!
