  1. I dont fast my fish. I get baby endlers and dont want them becoming the missed meal
  2. I'm not sure if its species or personality. I have a red honey gourami that is always watching me and observing everything i do with the aquarium. At feeding time, she will even come and "kiss a finger" It's my first of this species, so I don't know if they are all that way, or I just got lucky
  3. I have a 20 Long that is still in the cycling stage. I have a couple nice pieces of wood that leach tannins giving me a yellow water color. Best fish stocking ideas?
  4. I have a pair in a 20-gallon with Endlers and cories.
  5. instead of pearl ghouramis, look at honey ghouramis for a lighter bioload, as well as playing well with others
  6. I would get a shoal of 6-8 corys, for big schools, look at some of the tetra or rasbora varieties. 8-10 for schooling
  7. I did a small water change and the fish fasted. This morning, the tank is hugely improved. It looks like it should be back to it's original look by tomorrow. No fish problems. Everyone seems happy and active.
  8. Got home last night and found that my grandson tried feeding a 20gallon tank, half a jar of flake food. I sucked out most of it and replaced half the water, Still cloudy, fish seem ok, Question is, should I do a change in the water again today or wait a few
  9. I have a small community tank with 6 Endlers, 6 Albino Corys, and 5 Ember Tetras I recently picked up a red Honey Ghourami Everytime I am messing with the tank, he follows my movements and looks up expectingly at me. Last night, I was vacuuming the gravel and he just stayed close to my hand and was looking up to watch me. He's like a puppy. First time, I ever had a fish that was more of a pet, than livestock
  10. You may be at capacity with a 12gallon tank, however, if the size was just a typo, then I would look at ember tetras
  11. i would get a shoal of cories. i have about a half dozen albinos that are very active and keep the tank a busy place. they are peaceful and playful and do a great job as a cleanup fish
  12. I've never used rapashi, I like sinking Bug Bites bottom feeder formula, Hikari bottom feeder sinking wafers, and live baby brine. of course, they scavenge whatever comes from above that the other fish miss
  13. I'm sure that would be fine. Anything closer to earth tones, maybe? Dark brown or black
  14. For all the bad press, a Convict tank was a lot of fun. I actually had two nesting pairs that took up stations on opposite ends of a tunnel. They always watched the entry, but didnt care about the other pair behind them. All in all, a fun, prolific breeding fish.
  15. A more aesthetic looking sponge filter, something invisible or looks natural
  16. really for that small of a tank, i would just use the small Aquarium Co-op filter, it should be planty
  17. I picked up some red Mickey Mouse platys for my granddaughter, they are in the 5 gallon quarantine tank. I also picked up a trio of 20gallon tanks, one is a long, during the Petco sale. Washed gravel and set up the sponge filter for one of them. Busy couple of weeks ahead
  18. Just moved into new home. Used the test strips to learn about my well water Hardness reads 150/ppm, pH is 6.8, buffer is 40ppm Overall, are there any fish (I do mostly community aquariums) that are going to be negatively effect by the hard water? Who will thrive?
  19. I keep a single male Betta. Just give him plants and a variety of play structure
  20. I generally go 5watts/gallon. Others say 3, but why overwork the heater, causes premature failure.
  21. Any fish whose max size is under an inch, I would consider a nano fish
